It only makes sense... i mean you can do all the pre-maint you want on your car... ie - change oil, rotate tires, etc. But it still sometimes just breaks down..

Grab your tool box, head on out to the harv... ahhhh i seee your problem right here.. you blew a ore mining unit, or ahhh its a structure storage module giving

ya trouble... ill have that fixed right up.

I'll commend you if no one else will lol... specially since i had the same idea a bit back i posted for houses lol.

yea its a good idea I just don't think we will ever see it.. And I think harvesters will make more since than houses since harvesters are always running...

Architects actually do a lot in the real world. They just don't draw pictures and then hire somebody to build it based on their picture. Most of the time a company will hire them to design. They have to get every detail right and do all of the technical work. Make sure the design is solid and is actually something that can be built. Then, depending on the project, they will actually supervise the construction and be on hand to rework the design or put out fires.

I consider the actually work we do in game to simulate that. It wouldn't be fun to just draw things up and have others build it, so the process of making factory runs and the like makes up for just designing.

And honestly, how much fun would it be to travel to repair someone's harv? Travelling is already a timesink in itself! So you get on your speeder and head to thispersons harv. You diagnose the problem, drag and drop a part on the harv and its fixed. Get on your speeder and go back. Not only do I not find that fun, but how do you think other people are going to feel when their harvesters stop performing and they can't find someone to fix it right away? Then theyhave to wait for this person to travel to their site and fix the problem. They are going to just think this is just more stuff to make them waste their time.

I didn't say that this was not a good idea, it just isn't the right idea for us. I didn't get into the architect business to go on site and repair people's things. I'm a builder, not a maintainer!

Not saying this is what should be done... im just saying that it would be cool if it had a more life like simulation.

I already said people would be to lazy about it... and yes you would sometimes have to wait for people to come fix it... when is the last time you called a plumber and he said ohhh heck yeah ill be over in five minutes. Its the same mentality of the AS/WS yeah ill make the armor and wepaons in bulk and ill sell em to ya for crazy prices... but heaven forbid you send me a tell and want me to repair it for ya. It would be your own perogative if you wanted to go do the repairs or not. You could continue to run schematics and factory runs then go to play whatever really excites you like killing meatlumps or whatever else. People always say that everything is a time sink... well why else do you play the game. yes there are things you don't wanna do.. but you know if you don't wanna do them there are always other professions you can do... wah wah i don't wanna survey.. well then don't .. stop mining... wah wah this takes to long... well then stop doing it. We all play the game cause its a small little retreat to a alternate reality. but in a sense we want it to be like rl. well add some realism to it.

The profession is just getting boring as it is. They need to do something to spice it up... i mean just contructing harvs over and over again is kinda redundant. The money is good.. but id rather play the profession to its fullest. To many people out there doing arch for the money, so yeah they want a profession the way it is.. that way they don't have to spend much time doing it, just make your money. you can do your 30-40 minutes of schem switching and go about your buisness. anyways back to work hehe.

When my harvesters are in use, I'm paying maintenance every half hour. Why do you think this is... this is MAINTENANCE! This is the money I'm spending for upkeep and repairs! It goes on in the background with no player involvement to save players from the tedium of continuing maintenance, so we can spend our time on things that are more fun.

Hi there,

Just a quick question from a newbie artisan. If I turn off my harvester do I still have to pay maintanence on it?

maintenance, yes. it keeps burning maint as long as it's in the world.

power, no. it only burns power when it's drawing resources.

Yes Artisans can build Personal Harvesters...the average BER is like 4 or something pretty low, but they can be handy

The Max BER on personal is 4.
Except for wind power generator wich is 9.

It's in the engineer skill tree, and for some require a public crafting station.
