Thread: harvesters

I try and harvest everything I can on my own, with a few exceptions. I only buy power unless the radioactive is particularly good and I want it for pu36s, in which case I plant some fusions. I also have to buy all my meats and hides.

It's quite a task balancing the focus of my harvs between my chef and architect needs. I pretty much have to just look and see if anything stands out, and if not I focus on architect resources (LGO/metal). I have a healthy amount of lots donated for my use, but there never seems to be enough. My fleet consists of about 15 heavy min, 12 heavy flora, and about 4-5 of each of the rest.

I harvest alot of my own stuff. I'm lucky in that I have one of the 21 BER Fusion Gens, so I am never low on power. I contract out alot of the minerals and such, but do enf up having to get my own flora - I just need better Flora farms.

I primarily harvest my own resources although I never pass up a reasonable deal on the bazaar or a resource vendor.

I usually harvest about 80% of what I use.

I've never harvested before; I was wondering what is a decent to good base extraction rate would be?

Idea to help with architects money flow problem.

Have it where certain parts on harvesters can break.. Now take it it will take a month or more to break but architects could replace the item that broke. and the item would break less if better resources are used. Also have the ability to upgrade parts. let say you buy a harvester at BER 10 and a architect comes out with a new part that will make it BER 13. The architect could go out to the harvester and replace the part.

I don't mean this as a flame, but I think any idea where we have to go to someone's harvester to fix it is not plausable and I don't think most people who would have to get those repairs would like it much either.

An architect isone who designs, supervisesand constructsbuildings and structures. We are not maintenance people.

From a RP standpoint this is the way these things should be done. I would love the idea.

BUT people are to freakin lazy to have this kinda of setup in place, hell they don't even wanna go to there own harvesters to add

maint. let alone go to other peoples to actually do a virtual job. I personally would love to see the work type system revamped to more of this

not a let me pick up arch do huge factory runs so i can make tons of money, while i go and combat and not be bothered with actually being an arch.

i will now go mosey along while you all flame me lol.

Again, an architect is not a maintenance profession. We don't tote around our tools and do "house" calls. We're not on call to come fix something. We build things and when they are done it is no longer our problem what happens to them, unless their is a design flaw.

Architect isn't all about making factory runs. There is a lot of planning to do and a lot of resources to gather and surveyingto be completed. Any established architect knows that surveying is a pain and can take close to an hour sometimes just to find a concentration of 50% ore. I'm not talking about the architects who have huge fleets of static harvesters. I'm talking about the architects who use their 10 lots and shift their harvesters when the resources shift and then buy other resources from miners.

This would be more suited as a maintenance profession. One that goes around and repairs things. But how practical is that and how exciting would that be in gaming?

Well it can then be said that combat medic is not a bio terrorist profession, but we won't go there. I kinda like the idea, but instead of the upgrade being permanant, make it kinda like a powerup.

Well if you wanna get technical with it.. arch's don't really do anything. they draw up an idea of what they like a building to look like, they then hire some guy to make a model out of popcycle sticks and trys to sell the idea to rich people then does a layout. So your saying you wanna be a schematic maker and then thats it? lol.

Yes im being a goob... but if you want a re-newable income and want some good content to the game i think making the jobs more hands on like these would be cool. I know i spend more time chating to people on my arch then i do actually doing stuff. its like im a robot.. gotta make more harvs... gotta make the donuts.. If the jobs took more time like this.. it could be a fulltime profession and more people would seek us out then vice versa.. hey this guys cool he came right out and did some repairs.. ill buy my stuff from him kinda deal.

Just my two indian heads.

It's a idea I had.

I know most people wouldn't want to do it maybe it will cut down on all the server swap harvesters because people don't want to mess with it all.
having to get 150 harvesters repaired would be a pain.
