Thread: People who are jacking up our economy...
Vyper, everything you said was incorrect ![]()
I actually *AM* on Naritus, odd conscience, but true, message me (sobel) and say hello sometime. I run (up until last week, I went on a small real life vacation and had to updeed all) 16 heavies 2 Fusions, and a friend Lends me a few more slots for housing and Factories. I give money to people to help them out, Buy my GF (she plays an enterainer, say hi, Aclodava if your ever in theed Cantina) way too much clothes, as she loves to shop at Lerek's House hah. I have the same expenses as you do bud, But at the same time I also have the money to do it. I guess I just got lucky, but I've made many good friends on Naritus, and many people come to me for repeat business on both Furniture and Deeds, so I usually have the money to burn. You are right though I did unjustly stereotype all Master Crafters are being rich with nothing unique to spend money on.
Not counting in the typical Matience fee's what else is there for pure Crafters? I can only dress my house up so much before it gets a little old, I can only try on so much clothes, and I can only buy so many Scout Blasters to go with my whole Pistol III marksmenship. So what does this mean? My money sits, and colors dust, because there is nothing worth spending it on. Thats why if someone comes up to me, and says look man, Im in a bind and I need a heavy, will u make me one for a small discount, Im usually not against it (mind you Im no undercutting moron like our friend above in this post, I try my damnest to keep the Architect profession alive and with dignity).
Well then I tell you what, do us all a favor and quit posting. You're not convincing anyone that your undercutting prices are good for anyone else but you. Keep doing it, but don't talk to us, because you're insulting our hard work and time. You're making it so that the profession is worth less to the rest of us and to the economy as a whole.
Do you not feel annoyed when weaponsmiths and armorsmiths can sell their wares for 10-100 CP/R??? A house that never decays is worth less. Come on, give an honest answer. Give the only one you can.
ok i am a novice architect i just became one...but I AM ONE YOUR SIDE
people alwasy ask me for small house for 4k, mediums for 25k
i decline there offers...ive sold plenty of small hosues for 12k and i will not lower my prices just becasue other noobs do....im tryin all i can to spare whatever of the economy we have left

Not true, I am the archetect in our group. Now selling large houses and heavy extractors at reduced prices.
We also have a Wesponsmith and a Droid engeneer. We will be shaking the weapon crafters markets very soon now
I highly doubt that you'll be 'shaking' the weaponcrafters market unless your guy is incredibly dedicated, wait I like crazy better. Two reasons:
- Personally I have over 50 different resources I stock for everything I make, and I can easily see having over 100. You cannot mine 50 different types of resources in substantial amounts yourself. So if you start paying around 10 cpu just for resources you need to have, you'll soon start having a stock of a few million credits worth in resources. Trust me you'll sell for what the market can bare because you need turn around.
- I spend more time running around finding the best materials to use than I do actually building weapons. This isn't like architecture where you just throw harvesters down and use what's outside your shop. Furthermore you need to contend with other smiths that will pay top dollar for good resources that have shifted out.
Basically there is a considerably higher time investment and a considerably higher credit investment. However go ahead and start charging low prices for guns. I think you won't be able to keep up with your servers best smiths. Then your products won't be anywhere near the best they could be. Once that happens it won't matter that you are selling for less than other smiths because few people want greatly sub-par goods anyway.
Oh Dayln,
It is pretty obvisous the man is a complete newbie in the game as well as real life business. Hell, why do I even bother to reply here? I was a Master Architect several months ago when Wanderhome first went live. I was there when the prices were still the way they should be. A small house sold for 25k....uhhh what a rip off. But guess what, most of us Masters back then stuck together and kept the prices high for as long as we could. They sold like water in the desert. Then little newbies like you came along with your undercutting and cheap cheap cheap and destroyed the profession as a whole. You don't just damage yourself and kill yourself in the long run, you kill the profession. YOU ARE THE REASON that Architecture is going where it is...nowhere. Yea, decay would be nice, but if ignorant fools would not be undercutting and destroying the economy, then this profession would not be doomed like it is now. I don't know what server your are on, but since as of today you are NOT A MASTER, yet your sales are well, you must be on a underdeveloped server. When the number of Architects increases on your server, you will feel a change in your sales. Sure, go sell at your rediculous low prices, makes you look ohhhh soooo good. As far as this whole "SWG Community" goes, you are a thorn in it.

I never said I was undercutting, I said I sell for less that a whole lot of people and I will defend the rights of others to sell what whatever price they want.
Why do you do us a favor and stop posting yourself.
talk about an overinflated ego.. gezzzz
After sorting through the noise, I have to agree with the folks who are protesting super low pricing practices. That goes way beyond a competitive market and into the realm of undercutting. I'm not in favor of price inflation either, but something reasonable is needed.
You show no respect for architectural products or the craftspeople who produce them when you devalue them so dramatically. What is the intent in flooding the market with 1-2 credit per resource furniture and structures? It is to dominate sales anddrive out the other architects, whilesetting unrealistic expectationsfor the other players.
How can these people afford to do it? Some fund their little hobby via missions or other sources of income. Others duplicate resources or use other exploits to reduce their costs. What happens to the economy and the expectations of players in the meantime? They start to think of those folks who charge 3-4 credits per resource poorly. Quality and good service has no value.
It also sends them the message that our products have no value and that we must build things solelyfor their pleasure. Our failures are our own problem to fund.
The temporary good feeling you get from undercutting prices and increasing sales comes at the price of the other architects ability to stay in business and enjoy the game.
Imagine if weaponsmiths or armorsmiths dramatically undercut prices and charged less than 20 credits per resource for their goods? Many charge up to 40 credits per resource and they are worth every penny. Listening to us quibble about 2 credits per resource for furniture, much less structures, is very odd indeed.
After damaging the competition and driving down the market, what dothe price undercuttersdo? They go hunting or play other professions and leave a damaged architecture profession in their wake.

First off Viper
I can make Small, Medium and Large hosues, I am also now making Heavyextractors. Many of my customers that bought smaller units from me are now buying larger units. I will be master archetect before the end of the week.
You think helping customers is not what what business is about,? Then I would guess you are not in busienss in the real world. I care very much about my busiiness, and that is indeed why I sell for less, because I gain market share among my customers and their friends.
I sell for less than most archicetcs, but not all. My prices generally run around 3 cr per resource unit. Now that my resource rates are falling well below .5 per unit ( currently .46 jsut checked ) and re-deeding and other overhead is less expensive for the same number of resources with the heavies. I feel I am poised to compete at less than 3cr per unit when I need too.
So far there is no need, I have a steady supply of customers at my current prices while I make very large profits and am making a name for myself as a low cost dealer.
My customers like me, they come back for other stuff, The people I sold a Large House to yesterday have placed an order with me for 5 heavy extractors.
That is good business. You can flame me all you like, but the sucuess of my business is what will make an impact on me, not your arguments.
I'm glad you have a warm, fuzzy feeling deep inside when you sell a product at a loss. Btw, dont you think that all these establishd Architects know something about what it takes to BE an Architect? I have a feeling that "someone" is NOT mining their own resources, and NOT buying off the bazaar or vendors. I think maybe someone gets their stuff for free through a PA or something as so, YES, .5cr per unit IS a profit.
All you are doing while you get that warm fuzzy feeling is bringing the end of the road that much closer for all of us. Actually, let me de-personalize it: "People who believe as you do". Unless the Devs do something soon, there will be one or two Master Architects per server, and a half dozen die-hards below them. The only way our items leave the game is through frogetting to pay maint, or if a person accidentaly or purposely destroy it, or if they quit and dont give it away.
So your warm fuzzy feeling is going togive dozens of other players a rancid taste in their mouth. You win. You can be the only Architect on the server. You can be the only one having fun as an architect. How selfish you are.
You know Dayln, there are a WHOLE LOT of people who need your particular brand of help. It's a big job, though, and I'm not sure even you could do it. They are simply unable to grasp those simple concepts. I think you ought to head on over to the nearest Weaponsmith trainer and sign up! I tell you, if anyone ever needed help, it them!

...What I have been trying to explain to people is about the faiy tale of 3cr per unit....
...The problem on this board is that people expect to make 400% profit from 1 unit of resrouce like it is a god given right, it isnt. This is an open economy....
Business is war, and it is PVP war. You need to learn that. Your ranced taste does not bother me at all. This is not the USSR where some government sets prices, this is not OPEC in the Arab world where a few big bozos decide what everyone else pays. This is not some monolopy that a PA owns. This is a free market, an open market, you commies! ![]()
( Although it is true that Sam Walton was sued over and over for doing what I do, he won every suit , selling for less while still making a profit is NOT illegal, in fact he won the suit where was selling at a loss )
We can set our prices wherever we want, I wont complain no matter how high you set your price, and you have no right to complain no matter how low someone else sets theirs. Me, I am somewhere in the middle, Lower than most, but ready to compete with the low ballers once I actually need to.
I hear many of you say the same thing, that you could compete on my level but dont need too, that is good, that means your business is working, so is mine. I expect mie to work even when there are only 20% of the customers there are now, I am not sure that is true for everyone, but only time will tell.
It would be so easy for any of you to trounce my business ( hence why I prefer to reaminbehind this handleon the boards ) Becaue I dont have the resoruces you do.
But I am sucueeding where some ( not all ) Masters said they would have to fold if they sold at that level. That is part of what I wanted to prove, to myself really, I dont reallycare if aIl convince anyone else.
I want to see if real world business values held true in this artificial environment. So far they have.
Smile, treat your custmoers like the are are somebody, because they are! Make your customers feel like they are more important than you are. ( kids have a really hard time doing this )
Sell a good quality product at a very good value, have the customer walk away talking about how great it was to do business with you. ( Probably more important than anything else )
Whenever you can sell for less than you competition, do so even if it is just a little bit less. ( kids have a really hard time doing this too, they cant see past the one sale to all future sales )
Keep in touch with your customers long after the sale, dont harass them, but ask them how whatever you sold is doing for them. If it is doing well it will put you back in thier minds. ( this is difficult to do right, it is easy to become a harassment, tread lightly )
I could go on and on, but for me, it is working very well.
