Thread: State of the profession

I like the list so far...

I also had a merchant tent disappear from my inventory.. not sure where it went.

One thing I would like to see for Master Merchants only, is some way to rent or drop a vendor for a limited amount of time in a city.

I do alot of player weddings and when I do weddings at the Lake Retreat there is no place to drop a vendor for wedding cake, champagne and other trinkets for guests to buy.

In a PA hall I can do nice custom add barking for the couple and name the vendor something nice, but when the wedding and reception are held in an area like the Lake Retreat it really limits my ability to run a successful wedding.

thanks

My two cents,

It is an unfair trade policy to allow every nonprofessional access to a galaxywide bazaar while forcing professional Merchants into anonymity 1.5km from the nearest city. Player to Player secure trades should be the nonprofessionals only access to marketing. If that is too strong to stomach, then how about a single flea market per planet that lies no less than 2km from the largest starport. Bazaars could still be there and the merchant vendors could probably compete with it if an appropriate price cap were included.

Introduce a new resource called delivery droids, they could be to vendors what power is to harvesters. A Master DE could make them and a Master Merchant could use them.

Example:
The vendor must be "powered" with delivery droids.
The customer must have a declared residence.
Under the retrieve item options is "Droid Delivery Service" (the Merchant sets the amount to charge for this service) the customer selects this option and then the droid appears on his front steps much the way the signs do now. Doubleclicking the droid drops the item into the player's inventory.
This would only be useful, however, if Merchant vendors are granted galaxywide visibilty like the bazaar currently does for nonprofessionals.

The "offer to vendor" option is really lacking appeal. Steps should be taken to make this the desired method of selling. Merchants do not craft - they Buy/Sell. Crafters are and should be the manufacturers and wholesalers. Merchants should be the retailers..in short just about everything that is bought or sold should be through a player merchant. At the least the player Merchant should be more appealing than just about any other form of selling. Please, these are my ideas, you probably have different ones and even better ones...but fix my profession, don't eliminate it.

I agree that the bazaar hurts merchants!!

For one thing, people sell items way too low on the bazaar forcing prices down or putting some crafters out of buisness.

I don't like competeing with the bazaar, and in fact I hardly ever use it. I really like the flea market idea.

This has been fixed some time ago. Human vendors now have hair and Also Zabraks also have their hair and horns back.

I really like these ideas...great job guys!

- Allowing higher lvl merchants to "auction onvendors"
- Only allowselling onthe Bazaar if you have Business 1 (20 skill points), Premium auctions at Business 2, Private Vendor at Business 3
- Fix the bugs with keeping vendors after dropping skills
- Rentable storefronts, structures (guild halls - or tent space) in permanant cities - should be VERY expensive!! This will make it so that the cities don't look soooo empty.
- More options at higher lvls, sell to PA at discount, ban certain factions, allow trade ins on certain items
- Better management, "Sale Reports" vs. the listing of a hundred emails
- Ability to change prices/descriptions without removing the item from the vendor

/agree

/agree - but would be easier if just novice artisan(hard to earn business xp if you can't sell)

/agree unfair competition

/??? I don't understand this point. I'm sorry, I'm not too bright sometimes.

/agree /agree /agree Oh, how I want some options here. Also, I like the idea of being able to discount to certain PAs and/or players.

/agree /agree No merchant tools ingame are causing clutter on my desktop out-of-game. 8)

- Ability to change prices/descriptions without removing the item from the vendor

/agree /agree /agree THE most time consuming element of my day. I have been keeping a text file in notepad with all my ads and descriptions that I copy and paste from. This speeds up the process on long ads a little bit.

Good ideas! Keep 'em coming.

I woukd like a comand that lets me delete a vendor that has been placed in my shop by someone else that is an admin on the house. I had someone i gave admin rights drop a vendor then a few months later quit the game without removing it. And I can't get rid of it.

I would also like to see the ability to make individual people admins on my vendors so they can fill them and i wouldnt have to have other people drop their vendors in my shop. The abilityfor me to then set the split of who gets paid when an item sells... perhapse just setting percentages for all admins on a given vendor.

I would also like to see all vendors only in the merchant tree and none on the artisan tree but that isnt gonna happen ... hehe... but I would like to see2 more vendors added to the total number we could have in a shop. And for shops to be allowed to have 1 per building no matter how many you have elsewhere ...

/applaud to everyone on this thread

>How about billboards instead of a spamming NPC barker in town? We are constantly bombarded with angry players telling us not to SPAM out in the open, esp. near Coronet Spaceport. Billboard space could endear us to the local populace.

>I would love to have an automated function that could transfer my crated goods automatically to my vendors. That would save so much time for me having to run all over the place.

At least SOE was on the right track with this latest patch. But I couldnt agree more with banning temp merchants that are there to just bring out a vendor.

- I would love the ability to place a vendor outside. Personally I have a hard time getting into houses and about 50% of the time I go into a house and have to wait close to 5 minutes before the house all generates. If we could place vendors outside in player cities that would be great! I'd even be willing to pay extra maintenance for this option.

- My guildie came up with this idea but I like it. We need a way to be able to "rp" our alignments. If I'm a Rebel and I know a customer is Imperial, I may choose to charge them a higher price or act differently towards them in an RP sense than I would a Rebel or Neutral player. It'd be nice to somehow be able to give different prices on items depending on their alignment.

- In player cities, I wish they would give a new category on the planetary map called "Bazaar" and only allow Master Merchants to declare an area or point a "Bazaar", some symbol that shows up much like how dancer/musicians can register their location or how mission terminals show up on the planetary map.

I agree with the need for a move up/down command. I am a weaponsmith and I would love to be able to display weapons on the walls of my shop.
