Thread: State of the profession
Great post as alway, Marqie!
I just have to /agree with the Vendor UI being overly complex and convoluted. Let me sell, buy, reject, and retrieve multiple items with a single click rather than three clicks for a single item. The horrible UI complaint applies to harvies too, btw.
Let me monitor and PAY vendor maintenance for all vendors from any vendor. Better yet, have vendor & structure manitenance automatically deducted from my bank account at regular intervals.
There is a cap now of 325 items for sale per NPC vendor. When did this happen? There is no warning when you reach this cap. Any items placed for sale above the 325 limit are just gone. They do not exist on the vendor and do not exist in your inventory. I just discovered this a few minutes ago, when I said goodbye to over 50 pieces of 67%-68% base effectiveness composite that I had placed on my vendor that exceeeded the 325 limit. I noticed it when Iwent to pull a suit offvendor for a customer andfoundcertain types of armor (left bracers for example which were the last to be added to vendor) were mising from the vendor. Then I noticed the 325. So I placed another item on the vendor. It didnt show up either, and the item count remained 325. Removing an item from sale, reduced it to 324, so the missing items are not stacked up waiting to return to the vendor. Placing another item returned the count to 325. Placing another item, the vendor ate it and count remained 325. Don't let this happen to your valuable items!
/rant on- In fact, I will probably have a hard time selling whats left the last whole crates of left bracers are missing (they were the last pieces I added). Its kind of hard to sell suits of colored armor when there are pieces missing
Some of these pieces had been sliced up for resists as high as 89%
I had been saving the very best resources since launch just to make this one big batch 45 sets of super-composite. I spent countless hours and millions of credits hoarding the resources needed. And now... SOE has managed to ruin it for me. I have been with SWG since beta 2, and this is the worst moment yet for me in that entire time. There is a great chance that this will be my last post, as I am seriously considering canceling my account. I have put up with a lot of bugs and problems over the last year, but to loose such valuable items to something so stupid as this.... well, its a difficult feeling to describe as millions of credits in rare resources get flushed down the drain. /rant off
/salute
thanks for using my post in your "state of"...just to let you know ive been hunting around some more and found a "quriving butt load" of items that i will be adding to my site titled "THING YOU CANT HAVE"..lol
but yeah in curently cuting and pasting now id say i have about 15-20 new items for that list![]()
Another thing we need as Master Merchants is a skill other than another Vendor and reduced vendor fees. I mean come on.. As a Master Weaponsmith, or armorsmith, or Droid Engineer, or Architect you get a really Ubber skill or item craftable.
I would like to see an Ubber skill called 'Public Advertisement'. It allows you to place an NPC that walks around in an area (not limited to outside NPC CIties) which Bark your store advertisement. I am only asking for one NPC Character that would walk around saying this.
It would highly increase business if someone knows about my shop when I am not online or in the cantina doing my own Macro Barking. As a Master Merchant, I think that I am worthy of such a mighty skill.
Great thread here, a lot of much needed fixes and anticipated responses from our awesome Dev team!

As a Master DE I got **edit** all.
Great posting so far. I would like to add this to the wish list: Merchants need to have the ability to resort the items on the vendor (maybe this could be a feature the Master Merchants get).
I'm also a Master Tailor and it is very hard to keep track of how many and what colors of each item I have on the vendor. The items are listed on the vendor in the order that they get put on the vendor over time. The only time that items show up in a nice neat organized list is the very first time your vendor is set up. Unless you are willing to remove ALL items and relist them (and I'm not willing to as I have between 250-300 items on my clothing vendor) they are always in this disorganized state.

Marqie just reading your post has made me feel a little better about the Merchant class. I stopped logging on a week ago after I lost the contents of two vendors in one day. It just killed my playing spirit. If these items truly get fixed then I will feel better about rebuilding my stock and rebuilding my harvester pool.
I lost 8 large harvesters of various kinds this past week simply because I did not feel like logging on to check on them. I too want to have fun playing a Master Merchant again. I have been simply holding onto my two accounts in hopes that your communication to the Devs is getting through to them and real changes will be on the way. Thanks for what you are trying to do for us.
I messed with this the other night and found the twileks lekku styles are all the same. I make 25+ twileks and they all had the same lekku style. My guess is there is a more general problem with hair not being random on some/many/all the vendors.

Suggestions:
Anoption of replacing clothes on the vendors without losing the old ones.
An option whereby we could hire an artist to change the look of our vendors.
An option whereby we could write our own ads for our vendors to bark.
We should be able to put a factory crate in the stockroom (isn't that what they are for) and set individual price and crate price without having to disassemble one of the crates. This would solve the WHERE ARE YOUR FACTORY CRATES!?!?! tells that we get 1,000 times a day because the crates are listed under Misc:Factory crates while the items are listed under what they are.
