Or just become a Master TKM too... heh I dropped some muon and whipped a Tusken captain and a whatever they call them battlelord? and some of the lower level cronies with them by myself at the same time using a combo of Flamer, LP, and TKM attacks.. good fun!... and the injuries I took I just meditated away!

hehe the key to soloing tuskans for me is a fast flamethower! I walk in with flame cone 2 and set all of them on fire then watch them burn! I did a ip mission near the bestine med center, and in the last rrom there was a tuskan warlord and 4 tuskan elite guards. I killed htem all unbuffed, except for a muon. Master commando helps so much against big mobs.

Currently i have some awesome armor, it has 80% kinetic 76% electricity and 68% base... i need to be buffed to wear it, but once the buffs wear off i can still wear it so i have no problem. Tuskans are no problem mainly because of my armor and the flame dot. If there is a big group of tuff tuskans or whatever you usually dont stand much of a chance without flame cone 2. If you have some good armor and a fast flamethower it shouldnt be that hard to take on one even if your only flame 4.

On starsider myself, can't find any cooking quality ingredients whatsoevr, I managed to get some of the recent endorian fruit that's really good, but as for cereal, berries, vegetables etc, nothing at all. I'm eager to get cooking, but I don't want to try and market inferior foods. I guess this goes out to the chefs on starsider.

How do you get by in these ingredient dry spells? I don't want to have to wait 3 or 4 months before I can start cooking the most basic of foods, that's no fun at all.

i'm having the same problem...

I can't make brandy higher than 360 with bio... longer smiths can make 420+ brandy with bio.

it takes time to acquire some good resources to make good products.....i suggest investing some some heavys harvestors and watch swgcraft.com everyday for new spawns of good stuff... then drop all the harvestors you have on it...rinse and repeat..until you have a good stock built up.....only other way is to pay high cpu for the good stuff

I am in the same boat. I have been a master chef since about a week after the chef revamp and I'm still not selling food. I have spent all that time collecting good resources. I would rather make no food than make subpar food. I am getting close to having all the resources in place but I have noticed that for the last few items I need, I have been settling for decent rather than good. I just want to make the food.

You are probably going to have to makea choice. You will either have to wait to make the food or settle for lesser quality food. If you choose to make the food rather than wait, you might want to consider selling on the bazaar. Most people don't pay much attention to who makes the items so you won't get a reputation for making poor quality and you can still make a few credits on the side.

I've been a Chef since June 2003. First on Tarquinas, then on Chimaera.

As I knew what I'd need, I built up large supplies right from Chimaera going live. I got hit badly by the Chef Revamp, making a lor of my ingredients useless for all but components, so I just followed every half decent resource there was.

I use the SWG Resource Manager from hte www.swgcraft.com forums to keep an eye out for anything I can use.
Until recently, due to lot issues, I was buying the resources in, but now I'm harvesting some.

You just have to weather out the dry spells, check every day's SWGCraft updates for new resources, and harvst when you can.

I really feel for any Starsider chefs who are just starting out. I haven't dropped any harvesters in about a month as there hasn't been much worth harvesting at all. (Those Endorian fruits were nice, but I already have a lot of fruit, and I hate Endor, hehe.) We haven't had good berries in about forever.

Like the others said, the best way is to get as many harvesters as you have free lots, BER 13 heavies if you can afford them. Then keep an eye on SWGcraft, figure out what the best chef resource is currently, and throw everything on the highest concentration you can find. If you have friends or PA mates with harvesters, get them to harvest it too and buy it off them if they can give you a reasonable rate. Get as much of it as you can by any means possible. When it shifts out or something better pops up, pull your harvesters and move on to the current best resource. It's not overkill to get a million or more units of a resource - I'm still using the killer Dantooine greens I harvested about six months ago, and we haven't had much since that's better. Over time you'll build up quite a resource stash (ask me sometime about my storage issues, LOL) and will be able to replace mediocre stuff with better stuff (and sell off the old stuff). Your food will keep getting better and better.

I wouldn't hesitate to make the best food you can with what you have right now, and market it. Priced accordingly, it should still sell. There are two kinds of shoppers - those who must have the best, and those who insist on a bargain. The latter group is willing to sacrifice a few buff points if they can get it cheap. (It's the reason I sell both BE and non-BE versions of many of my foods - the non-BE versions are less popular, but still have a following.)

Finally, a plug for SWGcraft.com, mentioned several times in this thread. It is a crafter's best friend, reporting new resources and their stats so we know which ones to gather. However, it is only as good as we (theusers of the site)make it. The weaponsmiths and armorsmiths on Starsider do a pretty good job of keeping the inorganic resources up to date, but water, flora, and creature resources are rather neglected. And if a good resource goes undiscovered or is not reported in a timely manner, the chefs of the galaxy lose out. I do what I can - I update Dantooine daily, pull out the survey tools every time I have a shuttle wait, and try to visit the advanced planets at least once a week - but I can't keep up with all of them on my own. Please, if you use SWGcraft and have survey skills, give a little back by helping keep the site up to date.

SWGcraft is one of the best kept secrets... it allows you to see at a glance what's worth harvesting, and cuts your harvester-chores down to a tenth. Kettemoor is lucky; our docs tend to keep the flora up to date, at least on the central planets and moons. If you're planning to be a serious crafter of ANY type, you need to hit that site every day.

Usually when good stuff pops I harvest and hoard as much as possible; that, plus buying any nice stuff off the bazaar or the few flora shops on my server, will cover any dry spells. There's something really comforting about sitting on a million sweet berries (dantooine berries no less... the resource gods were kind to Kettemoor last month!)

Like fatgit, the revamp hit me rather hard too in the resource department, when suddenly, PE became THE stat to have, not OQ any longer, and DR suddenly played a factor. I sold off a lot of my suddenly-not-so-uber-for-chefs resource stacks and started over. So even those with massive quantities of pre-patch resources feel part of the pain younger chefs are going through.

And like Olanthe pointed out, there is definitely a market for "bargain shoppers" - non-BE food (particularly synthsteak, brandy, canape, brandy and ahrisa) still sell well, even if they aren't top-end.

People have covered the best of the best resource gathering techniques. I just wanted to point out that there is a market for a bit lower quality stuff. Not everyone needs the ultimate in food to go grind out some missions. An average buff can work just as well as the top of the line food. That being said, it is possible to find a market of more average consumers to buy your foods as you work your way into better quality items.

yeah.. you can still do a good brisk business with selling semi decent items at a cheaper price... its always been my theory that quantity of items sold beats quality anyday... i make enough to live on.. and i dont have to spend my entire day working to get the primo resources...

jsut be mindful... dont sell the 180 brandy on the bazaar for 6k a small glass... if your making standard items.. affix standard prices... also you can augment your sales by selling individual pieces instead of crates... so that folks can try the different items out a bit..

i am a TKM/novice swords/novice fencer

by the time i am finished with my template i will be TKM/master swords/fencer 4440, the rest is going into scout and FS.

my question is, how the hell do you guys put up with grinding out xp? i tried doing the same mobs that i did for TKM and my few boxes of swords and even with great buffs, food, drinks, powerboost, and 75% ubese armor, i still could barely last a single lair. after every lair of regular huurtons, i would have to meditate and redo powerboost.

what is the secret to getting fencer xp? or is it just a long patient waiting game. should i be hunting other creatures besides huurtons?

if you are jedi and you complain, i have one question for you. how many remember permadeth, kenetic damage lightsabers, and lightsaber TEFs?
