Speaking only for myself, I never have custom work sliced. I'm happy to offer referals to slicers that I know to be honest in their trade, but it's up to my customer to make that decision. For that matter, when it comes to elite custom work like that, I ask my customer to have a sit down with me before I craft toexplain what I can do, how I do it (well... maybe not everything ),and find out what he really want's. Then I offer to have him sit in with me while I craft, telling him how the experimentation is going, offering input on alternatives and getting feedback before I experiment again.

Without knowing about the materials your smith used,I can't claim foul onhis part, but it just doesn't sound right to me.If he's a cheat, he'll stick to his line and deny any wrong doing. If his crafting went poorly or he's just inexperienced and did a poor job, you might get him to admit it, but you'll still belittle better off than you are now.

The choice to confront him or not is one that only you can make, but before you do, you should be sure of what you intend to accomplish and how. Then be sure to have a clear head.

Sounds to me like the the smith didn't use your bones.

My hammers come out to 5.3 speed using crafted cores, and using Acklay bones they're 6.0 speed.

Sounds like you got a couple of regular crafted ones with damage slices (best slice being about 28%)

I'd say it's time to have a discussion with the smith in question...

In the future, I'd only go to a weaponsmith that you know and trust. Friends of Friends are good choices, as are guildmates (if you've been through some times together).

I hope this isn't becoming common practice among smiths, because that's just plain terrible!!

Best spedd i ever get on acklay hammers is 5.9 ,ussing 998 ut iron and 798 ut copper( bout as good as it gets).Bottom line , if these got dmg slices then the speed is impossible on an acklay hammer, but right in line with decent dmg sliced standard versoins.
Also yer math is right,if these were speed sliced acklays(using said bone stats)yer hammer's should be around 520-530 max dmg.

It doesn't look like an ackley to me i'm only a 10point smith for 1 month now and i can make 137-469 5.3 hammers with 107/35/23 ham on eclipse that's about the best on this server but still it looks like a normal sliced hammer.

You shouldtell your story on your server forums.

I am not sure that you'll get your money back but for a WS the reputation is essential. I assure you that he'll loose a lot more money in the long run than the price of your bones. Revenge is good.

man, if that is the case, im shocked. if this ever got out it would ruin his weaponsmithing career, and why do it over some average bones?

my power hammers are standard at 5.3/138-470 range -13 to all and a ham very close to those stats you just posted.

acklay hammers have a general speed of 5.9 if crafted with 1000 kammris and 800 polysteel, so unless hes double sliced em (can you even still do that?) i dont see how on earth he's managed to get such a high damage and low speed
Range on acklay hammers have a -40 too, with a +2 smith maybe could get those down a bit but only by a few points. check the condition on them too would like to see what the stats are on those.

TBH it looks like he's crated some average hammers and just sliced em mate, not even using the best resources he can get either (or that could depend on the server for the extra .1 on speed.

wow still cant believe someone would have the nerve to do this......

On our server we have 1000ut iron, and very good copper. Best hammers possible are 5.3/470. Basically you got screwed guranteed. Sounds like he probably used Geo cores on it to help increase the range a little bit and still get the damage up, Should still end up near the same speeds depending on his resources and could easily get into that damage range with a slice. A reputable WS will never slice a weapon for you without at least checking with you first. You got screwed it's up to you if you want to confront him or not but either way find a different smith for future crafting. An acklay Hammer will always come out to roughly 5.9-6.0 speeds. Which means under no circumstances was it possible that your hammers were made with Acklay bones period.

That isn't true...I am a completely reputable Weaponsmith. I work as a cohesive unit with a master smuggler on Tarquinas, and we slice all our work...

But then again...All my clients know up front that work comes sliced unless asked otherwise...

looks like normal hammers with a damage slice to me.
5.3/470 is what i get on chimeara.
good damage slice will kick it up to 5.3/600

seems like you met a bad smith, like others said before..ask around for a good smith.no good smith would stake his rep on a few ack bones.

Yeah i would mark this up as a lesson learned. Those bones, though slightly above base, where not uber so you didnt lose much at least since well sliced normal ones can be better than a hammer made with low end bones that doesnt get a good slice

Myrddin,

I'm coming from your server, just to give you an idea of the resources available vs. your situation.

As these guys above said, these look like base models to me as well. Lotta smiths are making 5.4 speed PH's in the upper 460's. With that said: the smiths that are maing the 5.4 Hammers are capable of getting the 6.0 speeds on the acklay enhanced versions. 5.9 speed on acklay weaponry is top notch stuff on Kett and =a 5.3 speed base hammer using the same resources.

With 73/94 bones, the hammers should be turning out around 520 with the pretty good resources on Kett and around 522 with top notch stuff, along with a 5.9 or 6.0 speed. So...

Given that the stats were:

Speed: 5.4
Min: 170
Max: 596

And we know you can't slice both speed and damage...it's gotta be true man They are sliced base hammers.

However, you should confront him in game first. Could be a mistake, we don't know the circumstances surrounding the exchange, and pehaps he indeed give you the wrong order. Don't take it to the Kett boards unless you are sure it was done out of malice and you feel the community should be warned.

Good luck, and I hope it works out for you.
