One question comes to mind. How exactly did you get to be our new corrrespondent?

I give a lot of weight to people who see the a Correspondent has stepped down and email me directly. It shows attention, initiative and the ability to assert one's self.

These are very important qualities to a Correspondent. By staying involved and attentive and assertive it means they can hear player issues, get those issues to me and remind me to stay involved.

Game development is a long, hard process and offers little instant gratification. Folks who have these attributes are always a asset to their community.

In other words, if you are at all a casual player, you need not apply.

A fair, open and disclosed selection process would allow us to trust that a Correspondent isn't put in for personal reasons, as has been shown before.

I totally agree. And are you saying just one person emailed about this position? If so are you saying that the first to email you in other professions will get the job? No, I don't think so....

don't look the gift horse in the mouth, ppl! however he got here, and however alienatingly cryptic he was about HOW he got here, he's still our correspondent. pointing out problems with these thing isn't getting us anywhere. we've got a correspondent again, and we can make some progress. i will welcome any help in making this game and this particular profession better.

although a little word to Dvnce: tight-lipped and/or mysterious will get no one anywhere in this community. so you're in a position that makes you more...not powerful, but visible. don't be elitist, that turns everyone off and negates the reason for the position you fill. i would suggest something a little more warm and friendly.

good luck to you, Dvnce and good luck to use all!

hmm.. leave the guy alone please.. if we want to get anything done around here then we need to come together as a community. we need to support our correspondant. he is here to help us. he doesnt get paid, he doesnt get any benifits that i know of and he has to put in a lot of work.

as for the comment on the casual gamer not having a chance at the job... well, duh. personaly i dont want someone that only has time to play 4 hours a week as our correspondant. i want somone that is on every day. has time to play on his/ her own server, has time to play on test centre, has time to read the baords and has time to do his behind the sceens work.

this is the type of person that is able to do the best job. i dont doubt the heart of the casual gamer, but if you dont have the time to do all these things then you will not do a good job.

now, can we leave the flames at home and get on with it please?

action this day i say again but lets try not to set europe ablaze at the same time if we can avoid it.

I apologize if i came across as trying to be cryptic.. or alienatingly.. The truth of the matter is I know that there are a few people here that would do a good job as Corr. too.. and i know that they have their supporters.. and i know as i have seen in every other profession forum where there has been a need to assign a new Corr. some people are not happy with the decision. I know this . I accept this..

However I would think that all most all of us here, with being faced with over a month period of "catch up" to do that there are way more important issues that you would like to have me get addressed as apposed to spending my time and energy defending why i am qualified to do this. I fully plan on letting my actions speak for me. and encourage all the leaders to stand together here and lets get things done here..

As for how.. I was PM messaged by alot of people that know who i am and know of my efforts and asked that I apply .. So I did..

We should all be happy that we now have an activecorrespondant rather than an AWOL one.

BTW, I did not apply myself.

So quit bitching and whining like children about stuff that doesn't matter and let him do the job that he was generous enough to volunteer to do.

Welcome aboard Dvnce.

Let's roll up our sleeves and get to work. This isn't rocket science, and we'll never agree on everything, but I think that there are some clear things that we can agree on that will make the game a lot more enjoyable - and less discouraging - to all of us.

Welcome aboard - glad to see someone draw the short straw!

You guys have a great person as your correspondent. I play on Gorath with "Big Momma" and she is the best architect on the server, if not on all the servers. She is intelligent and has great ideas and will work very hard for you guys and gals. Good Luck.

I agree 100% here, let's get to work on ideas, etc.

I'm a novice Architect, and the 'grind, while expensive, goes fast. items give good xp, etc. The issue I've found, not much in the way of interior design and such, is there? How about placeable 'screens'? more statues, and some a bit less..modern? I'm sorry..but that unidentifiable rubbish I got for a holiday gift..well..I sold mine for 500 credits to buy a ticket.

Anyhow..how about marble-looking statues, of twi'lek dancers? you KNOW those would sell like hotcakes. hehe. or bronzes that look like stormtroopers, or whatnot? I know there's no tin in game, not sure if it could be added..but could make bronze with Aluminum and copper, that's not far off.

and, decay is an issue. I know no one wants their houses to poof...but maybe, could tie this to the Droid Invasion? Architects make disposeable items called 'home maintainance kits' that are bought, and used to fix a house's condition, rather than paying a set maintainance fee?

the item could be put into a special droid perhaps, or a vendor style npc, that would do 'handyman' jobs...or you could hire novice architects to do the work, masters would likely be far too busy with orders. Some sort of consumeable items for Architects are needed. DEs get batteries, tailors get Entertainers (styles change daily, hehe), chef stuff is all consumeables...perhaps a furniture piolish kit, to change color of furniture, that would last a week or so, then need to be touched up?

or an indoor harvester, an incubator, that would last for one week, put any organic in it, and it would gradually make more of that resource, maybe doubling it after a week? Not that big an advantage, but good for BEs who are always out of organics, etc. and it would only make a set cap of any item too, to prevent too much abuse (you know people would use it to make millions in resources over time, but hey, they can do that with harvesters now for most things, which are sold by architects anyways, so not like we'd be taking business from anyone).

Just some suggestions, as a low level architect, I have yet to see any of the serious issues I've heard about. But these are things that get my attention alot.

No I don't have a freakin sig. Just make something up and pretend it's here man. woman. umm...Whatever.

I really don't see what the fuss is all about being a crafter and fighting. I'm both a Master WS and a Master Artisan and I can hold my own in a fight. In fact I made sure I had room for Master Rifleman to go along with my other skills. No creatures going to stand in my way of getting the materials I need.

kinda gimped on merchant skills though if you master a combat class as well?

merchant efficiancy 4 = every crafters friend

getting a vender (or 3) on the map (advertising 3) is a must for anyone that wants to sell anything too expensive for the bazzar (like architects).

not to mention that npc venders look better than the coke machine artisan ones.. personaly preference there though hehe
