Thread: Jedi Revamp
If you look at history, the most dangerous people to Jedi are notoriously other Jedi. Yes, Vader hired bounty hunters. However Vader is the one who had the Ackard tracking droids developed to his specifications. This was done specifically so he could track rebels and Jedi. Vader routinely paid bounty hunters to find people. This did not mean that the bounty hunters killed the Jedi. As I understand it, Vader took most of the credit for wiping out the Jedi himself.
I feel that Jedi should limit themselves. (Bounty hunters will still have their role). Many times in the movies, someone did not actually make it to a higher level unless they "faced off" against another Jedi and defeated them. For example, Luke would not become a Jedi until he faced Vader.
I think that in order to make Jedi fun, the developers need to create special Jedi "dungeons" that only Jedi are allowed to enter. In the dungeons, or training facilities, (one for light, one for dark) young force sensitive will take quests. There will be several force-related quests they must take before they can create their light saber.
Here the Jedi will be able to spar with one another, (light vs light and dark vs dark). There will be no death blowing, they will simply spar until one of them looses. (Like and incap but perhaps another animation where they lower their saber and give up) After getting a certain ration of wins, the Jedi will get an opportunity to face the "trials".
They will not be allowed to go "out into the world" with their light saber at this point and they will not be allowed to travel outside the training areas except while they are running a quest. (All quests will be in special dugeons)
Once a Jedi is "ready for the trials" they will be paired with a dark Jedi of the same general level. Whoever is the victor gains the next level, such as Padawan, Knight or Master. Devs will limit the number of Masters, Knights, and Padawan’s allowed on the server of each side at any given time. (This should be scalable based on population) Padawans, Knights and Masters WILL be allowed to go out into the world with their Sabres. These groups will have a chance to make some sort of impact on the GCW and PVP throughout that week. However once, a week they must have another "face off" with an opposing Jedi in order to keep their rank. If they lose this battle, they have to re-roll their character and start jedi training again with a new toon.
The old battlefields will be converted into the new face off areas. For a "face off" to begin, both jedi, light and dark must enter the arena. Jedi will be able to invite their friends to watch and cheer for them, since the face off makes the difference between leveling and death. Nobody will be able to attack the 2 jedi, they may only watch.
Perhaps after the face-off is over, everyone in the battlefield becomes overt. The GCW could be tilted that week depending on which Jedi won the most face-offs (light or dark) (There would be no consequences for dying here even for Jedi, although the battle may affect the GCW)
Essentially this would give people the opportunity to spar and train their PVP skills with their Jedi without being in danger. Leveling will not be based on how may mobs they kill, but by having a face off with an opposing Jedi. Because a high ranking Jedi will die every week, there will be a churning affect, allowing everyone an opportunity to become powerful and PVP their Jedi without months of mindless grinding. The way to Jedi master will be fun and rewarding. If you die you can start all over again from the bottom.
This is just a general idea, I want to see how it flies with you guys.

this knew "quest based" system is a bunch of bull, who in the heck would ever want to do that?
I'll speak on behalf of the members of the Jedi forum...
We don't give a Gnorts backside.
can this post be removed from ourforum?
For the uneducated, we areIN-GAME architects, not GAME architects
(although sometimes I feel we could do a better job than the 'professionals' - and I use that term loosely)
If you are looking for a nice house to display your stuff in or a lovely factory to make your goods then you are in the right place (Well sort of. If you looking for them, try the trade forums. Onlyif you need advice on afformentioned nice houses or lovely factories, are you in the right forum)
If perchance you want to flame someone, possibly make some ill informed judgement about something then wildly speculate and start inane, pointless and potentially damaging rumors then you probably want the jedi forum.
