Hello and thank you for your support. I see that many of you are on the starsider server also and I hope to see the prices rising. Thanks for your support everyone!

why don't we setup a minum for our goods, like the 3cred per resource minimum, and then add on a labor fee?

You base your prices on bought resources.

At the moment my lowgrade costs me 0.75 credits per unitto mine and my steel 0.3 - - Hence I turn a good 400% profit selling at 2.0 credits

Maybe Architects have made the mistake of paying too much for their resources.

When I can do something very few others can, I will consider my time worth something.

NPCs will buy items for a minimum price. You can't buy from an NPC, but you can sell to one. Having points in the merchant tree increases the amount the NPC will pay for each product.

Again thank you all for your support... I spoke to a few architects in game on starsider today, I think they liked the idea b/c at least one of them has responded to the thread. I'm thinking of creating/deleting characters on each server and advertising this so that it spreads quickly... I'm soon going to provide a list of what each item costs to make and post it somewhere.... for now though I'm off to work! A 15 year old has to pay his galaxies bill somehow...

Well I used to sell for 3cr a unit. And with moving my mines with the resource shift and losing tons of materials when I failed at a combine I barley kept any money that I made. Now that im a Master Architect I dont sell for anything less then 5cr a unit and now I dont worry about where the creds will come from to keep my mines going to keep my buisness going. On the bazaar on the bria server most people are selling thier material for 4 to 6cr a unit. If I have to buy ore to finish making someones order I would start losing credits selling my stuff at 3cr a unit. Yes I do have my own mines but I also end up buying lots of material off the market to keep up with all the orders I have. So for my own two cents.. dont sell for anything less then 5cr a unit. oh and things that take lots of factory time I add 2cr a unit

Hi, guys...

This thread was certainly interesting reading. I'm a noob to SWG (but not to MMORPG).

Here I was all set to become an architect. I thought it would be interestingto finally play an MMORPG where a character could be successful without killing anything, and Architect looked like that path. So, I created my first character and ground her up to Engineer/Surveyor and looked to the Architect path. First, I see I need a gazillion GCXP to just be a novice architect, and then I read this thread that verifies what I suspected: Buildings do not provide enough game benefit to justify a cost that will support their creation by an arbitrary number of Architects. If buildings were 'gotta-haves' for all character types, then there would be more demand to support a larger population of Architects. If non-masters were not forced to 'grind' for XP, then the'ground' product wouldn't be flooding the market. If Architects could truly differentiate their products, then there would be a market for a spectrum of architects, instead of just needing a few masters to do it all.

I honestly belive that most people entering the games do not know the value of buildings, and therefore low level characters don't buy low-level buildings. Once they're more successful and realize the value of buildings, they're going to want a good building, and they're going to have the resources to buy one. This further devalues the small buildings and drives the small building costs even lower. Thus, pushing through the lower ranks of architect is even less "fun."

It's too bad that the population of Architects will be controlled not by some interesting game element, but by making the architect less fun to play.

So, my character will not be wasting time with the Architect path. That leaves Droid Engineer or Armorsmith or Weaponsmith. The DE's have this problem with permadeath, and the it's tough to be a "pacifist" armor or weaponsmith...

So much for the reality of being able to play a pacifist and have any fun at it. Maybe I'll start the character over as a dancer with really good surveying skills...

Keep in mind thatthe buyer doesn't give a hoot how much you spent making the item. He or she just wants the lowest price available (quality, in most cases, doesn't matter, since the items don't decay).

The easiest way to fix out economic problem with this class is for SOE to stop making it so we have to use so much in resources. That is our main downfall, especially in crit failures. But of course how can you build a huge structure with just a few resources like every other crafter class? Heh something has to be done or this class is going to be the dead horse of the galaxy.

Hi everyone, I'm glad to see this thread is generating responses. I've been talking with architects in game and I haven't seen anything go below 3cr a resource on starsider (i haven't left correlia though). Again I'm not asking you to sell at 3cr a resource. I'm asking you not to sell below 3cr a resource. I'm about to get buildings 2 so I imagine I am going to have a hard time with the medium houses... wall modules UGH!!!

Anyway I'm really happy that architects are responding... please next time you're in game search for the architects around you and ask them to spend a few minutes talking about this with you. Ask them to go to this thread and sign it agreeing not to sell bellow 3cpu, it works =)

Um... 3 credits per resource is just a break-even on your scale. It is too low. Try pitching it up to 5 credits per resource. That way, you can have some crit fails and still make money.

This is a huge point. This is NOT price fixing. It's agreeing to not undercut, to sell as Wal-Mart does, at a loss to generate sales. The sales are there, they don't need to be generated. All undercutters do is end up with orders weeks out and people look elsewhere anyway, and they get us and our fair prices insulted.

I had a guy tell me the other day that I was his second choice. I quoted him 105k for a fusion generator. He had another quote at 80k from another Architect, but the other guy was never on. Probably hiding from the crowd of people wanting stuff. But he chose me because I was ready to make the item for him at that moment. He had to wait a bit because of the stupid factory crate bug, but I think he was overall happy with his purchase, and very understanding of the price difference.

So stick with your prices! I will not budge below 4 creds/resource. I do specials, discounts for repeat customers, etc, but if you start out low, you can't go any higher. This economy just doesn't work that way.
