Thread: Crafter's Alliance Fix the economy once and for all!
Thanks everyone! I'm going to bed (work in a few hours) but I'll check back before then... goodbye!
Naufragus - can i count you in?
Agreed!
Right now the situation is ridicolous ... most resources are sold for 3cr per resource unit, but people expect us, who invested lots of time and resources into our profession to sell our finished products for less than 2cr per resource unit! That's just inacceptable. The problem we face though is, that people won't buy for 3cr p.u. and thus we're forced to drop our prices again in order to keep our harvesters running. I simply can not afford being out of business or my harvesters will crumble. As long as Architects don't agree on the 3cr p.u. prices nothing will change.
Heres a thought for you masters out there. Next time you see some novice spamming cheap prices offer to buy all the walls he can make for 3cr a resource (9k a wall).
You can always use the walls, and he gets harvester money, xp, and more profit than he was making before which will stop the spamming in its tracks.
I started a tread on a Fair pricing scheme for architects,I may have to remake it with more precise numbers.
Selling at cost to build? why even bother to be in business? every crafter especially weapon/armorsmiths price their goods to make a profit, so should we.
There are many master architects who are broke. You can keep selling cheap and stay broke or barely scraping by. I wont. Only people who can get away with selling large houses and harvesters for THAT cheap are either duping, or they are getting duped resources from their friends who naturally give it to them for free.
hey, Ipasa,
The problem is not creating an alliance. I've stuck to pretty much a 3 cr/unit ruleon most of my products. The problem is that there are high school kids out there with no idea how an economy should work decides that as long as he gets to keep his harvestor going, he's happy to sell his work for table scrap. This is a dead issue. All of us on this forum can participate in this alliance and there would still be some architects out there trying to lowballing everybody else.
Yes Rath I do think it should be viable to not have to mine.
Thats why I say that the general price of ore is too high.
And my price has been set to 2 per resource since experimenting in beta.
And while Architects pay more for it they will find it hard to compete.
The problem is that my deeds cost a lot less than someone who has paid 3/4/5 - more ? for resources.
The prices of deeds will onlyjustifyably behigher than say 2.5 - 3 per. when you have the ability to make a deed better than the base quality - lets be patient
Renthead:
Your initial post encapsulates the problems for architects: "There are dozens of architects out there..." See, that is the problem. There are too many architects and not enough demand for structures. And since structure experimentation doesn't really work, the only way for architects to differentiate themselves is by lowering their prices.
Other crafting professions have talked about forming co-ops and cartels to control prices, but it will never work. There will always be someone out there who will be willing to price lower in order to get the extra business.
The best thing for architects would be for structure experimentation to be implemented. That way architects could make structures with varying stats, and it would give players a reason to upgrade their existing structures (thus increasing demand).

One of the reasons we nerfed ourselves is because we HAVE to be miners to get the amount of resources we need to make even the smallest house. We HAVE to pay for those harvs because we can't start out buying resources off the bazaar. And you can't find 20k of ore on there either. Most of us are basing our prices off what resources are going for not what we have to buy them for. If you can get the resources to make a house at 3 creds, why shouldn't a house made OUT of them where an architect took the time and crit failed and had to make parts in his factory, why shouldn't that house be MORE than three creds a resource? IT JUST MAKES SENSE!
There should just be a level that architects do not sell under. 3 creds a resource should be that level.
