My response from the DE forum:
I personally love this idea.
It would not only make our lives easier (though to a smaller degree), but it would make Armorsmiths and Shipwrights lives a TON easier (full armor sets and full ship component sets), not to mention Tailors and Architects (full outfits and furniture sets). Heck, even an artisan could get in on it by selling resource combo's. Granted the usefulness decreases for the other crafting professions, but it doesn't detract from them in any way. Plus in the future it'll allow them to utilize it should the occasion arrise.
5 more stars for you!
[and it actually let me this time]

not to put a downer on this but.....
as architects can make chests and such with item storage, we might be stealing their thunder a little.
However, the ability to just pull an empty 5 or 10 item crate out of a factory, and be able to put things into it might be better.

what about getting crates that can hold more than 25 items........say 50, but only on certain items so people dont walk around with a crate of 150 of everything just to save space................

see im torn between having the item a object that can have things placed into it, or to have the items crafted into it. i see the point in the crafting the crate with the items so the names of the objects within show up when you put it on the bazzar. this in turn would make those with ideas of hording needing to find a artisan to make the items in a crate.

You could just as easily say that the architects are stealing our thunder, since we have been using backpacks for storage all along... But this isn't so much about storage as packaging and transportation, since the crate poofs once it is opened.

find a tailor and get some crates of backpacks, or an archetect and get some chests, works fine

tool chests would fit metal crate description perfectly methinks, even look skinda like a crate if you look at it from behind.
Tho I'm sticking with backpacks 'cause they can be renamed, and are relativly cheap.

true those would work but my idea is for a one time use box that you could sell things in on vendors. example: you get10 sets of composite armor together, you start loading them up to drop them off at vendor. but your vendor is a shuttle ride away and your invintory isdecently full with resourses and loot. well you could drop most of your stuff at your home or workshop, and carry all your armor with you, or make several trips. with my idea those 10 sets of armor only take up 20 compared to 90 spaces in invintory (8 pieces armor and 1 backpack or container). which way sounds better to you?
