I have been selling droids in kits recently expecaly with JTL. In order to sell everything together i needed to put them into backpacks. and since i dont have accsess to a wearables factory and those who did were using them. I started crafting them as i went loading them on vendor, which is fine i dont mind it but for the resourses they cost and for what they hold it was overkill for my needs. On the way into work this morning i came up with this idea to make a craftable crate, that those who wish to sell package items on bazzar or vendors need not have loads of backpacks lying around to use. These crates are a one time usable item that is renamable but only individual items (no factory crates or filled containers allowed) can be placed into the crate, to remove items they must open the crate which destroys the crate and dumps items into invintory unless the persons invintory is full. The crate would count as 1 item per 5 items contained in personal invintory only everywere else the crate counts as the number of items in crate, to prevent storage problems. The crates would also be helpfull if a person wishes to move his house, so he can pack all of the house and carry everything to new house in 1 trip maybe 2. There could be several types of crates for instance:
Small Wooden Crate (5 items)
- 10 Wood = Container
- 2 Metal = Fasteners
- 6 Chemical = Packing Peanuts
Large Wooden Crate (10 items)
- 24 Wood = Container
- 8 Metal = Fasteners
- 12 Chemical = Bubble Wrap
Small Metal Crate (15 items)
- 25Metal = Container
- 15 Chemical = Packing Peanuts
Large Metal Crate (20 items)
- 35Metal = Container
- 18 Chemical = Packing Peanuts

Why don't simply buy a crate of backpacks from a tailor?
- Cause like i said before its just a waste of resourses unless you are going to fill the backpack. I put maybe 5 items into my kit.
- I am not rich like a lot of players are, i struggle everyday to keep my credits above 100k cause i am barely a combat class.
- Whats wrong with new stuff to make?
- Couldn't find any with crates avaliable.

/sign good idea. only thing is if they would implement this ithink if the crate would count 5 items=1 item in the crate SOE might want to raise the resource costs a lot to make them more expensive to sell but it is a good idea would solve storage problems to a degree

From a "buyer beware" perspective, the only way this would work is if the items you place in the crate are identical... same serial number even. So - in essence - you would be "re-crating" them. Still a good idea that has floated around for quite some time.
If the items aren't identical, this is a moot point... as the crated items would then work exactly like a backpack and count as separate items in an inventory. If that is what you're after, my suggestion would be to craft a bunch of Chests and simply name them "Crates" since they function like backpacks now. Same issue would be problematic - the buyer couldn't see the contents... simply the number of items.
In other cases there are opportunities to add new schematics that would alleviate the need to employ crates. For instance, armorsmiths could have a new schmatic titled "Full Suit" for armor types, and the components would simply be one of each piece of armor. In that case, stats would be averaged so the resultant product was a crated full suit of armor with identical stats.
...just my 2 credits....

I think the real solution would be to upgrade the vendor system so that the buyer can look inside containers. The crate idea is great, but from a database standpoint the items in the container would still have to count against your total items. On the other hand, if the items were "similar" ie. identical properties, we could then "stack" the items or recrate them to count as one item and relieve the "bloated databace."
