Thread: Identical Power Core Units---- HOW IS IT DONE?
Hatton, it's got to be a bug; Everything was done exactly as you specified, and correctly, except we were loading up for 5 units rather than 10.
after some additional experimentation last night we learned that a) it eats RANDOM resources and b) still gives me the XP for the craft, even though no product was generated.
Oh well. I'm going to try again after the server resets and see if it works. Otherwise I'm going to have to start from scratch because I'm just about out of turbines which were made in the last resource shift.
I see nothing wrong in your description, so cant help you there. But my guess is you are overlooking something simple. Try again, and do it slowly and carefully, double and triple check every item and stack. Write notes on paper, include resource names and serial numbers. When you do all this, you might find something you done wrong before.
I love and hate factories. I use them every day. I have something like 300k industrial exp, just to give a hint on how much I use them. I have a structural, a generic and a wearable factory. I make complex things like data terminals, master furniture, house deeds, etc etc. I even made a run of 12 fusion reactor deeds. I like the fact that factories never critical fail. I plan on the assumption that anything will critical fail 1 in 7. Instead of failing I might as well make a schematic, and get guaranteed successes of the whole batch. Therefore I try to save up orders untili have 8 or more items, and run it in the factory.
I hate factories becouse they are slow, and have such a clumsy interface. We should be able to open both hoppers WITHOUT stopping the run in progress. I hate structural factory becouse it takes up 2 building slots. I hate that we can not place crates in input hoppers. I hate the baby sitting of manually moving crates from output hopper to inventory, manually pluck all items in crates, and manually move them one by one to input hopper. I hate that factories eat surplus items, forceing meto calculate and split EVERY stack. I hate that factories continue to run when i go LD, forceing me to feed parts from inventory to input hopper in sets, and cross my fingers i dont go LD while moving parts. There should be a setting for not running factory when owner is not online. Somestimes I want to make things whenI am not there, but I often do NOT want that to happen when I have expensive parts and schematics.
I have not yet made guild halls in factory, but some day I will, just becouse I can.
Abbi's Furniture Shop just 1 minute north of Moenia, Naboo, Eclipse(/waypoint 4660 -3948).
got 10 identical (factory created) items u need for the power core (master artisan items)
then i put in resources for 3 units. got 1
put in again resources for 2 units. got 1
...
after all i used 10 of the 2 artisan items and 12 generator turbines and lots of resources but i got my 4 power core units *G*
bugged as hell ...
yea, it was a nightmare.
My problem was that not only did the power core units get chewed up by the factory, so did my generator turbines! After a LOT of trial and error, and more resources then i care to mention, i seem to be able to make 5 or 10 generator turbines. Only those numbers exactly, or it gets wacky. And the power core units.. I just put in enough for 2 and got 1 until i had what i needed. When i tried 3 i got none, and lost all resources. Tried 5 and lost all of 1 resource and got nothing. It was really a mess. But when i put in enough for 2, i got 1 and all resources were gone, except the Master Artisan Items.
Major Factory madness. Glad im done with that PA Hall. geez.
I hope the devs are taking a good look at those correspondant posts.
I heard someone say that if you babysit the output hopper, you can remove the 2 items before the factory chews one up. Just start the factory with the output and input hoppers open. When you see the input hopper change, be watching the output hopper. It takes about a minute. Then it will show up. You can scoop when its made and not risk it getting eaten. I havent tried it with power cores personally though.

It is a total pain I just kept running PCU until i got 14 i could use. Took a long time. The minute i had them i started to make more it took a week to get the second run out.
keep at it you will get it to work

I've been losing resources like mad for two days now trying my damndest to make 3 identical power core units...
How in god's name is it done?!? I got 2, but in the process I've lost almost 10k worth of resources! I've submitted CSR tickets, but by the time I get a response it should be mid-April.
Anyone who's every succesfully made a PA Hall got a tip?
Make enough identical sub-componets for 20 Power Cores. Then put in enough components and resources for 20 Power Cores in your Factory.
I got 14 Power Cores back.
You will not be able to make only a couple. The factory will eat your resources. You must mass produce in order to get back some of your Power Cores.
nice to know its not fixed yet.
Don't worry it's not just you man.
We've spent the last 24 hours just trying to get TWO .. can you believe it TWO darned power cores. So far we've lost about 150K worth of resources.
Just like you said.. skip the replies that say I'm not using factory run identical items or the wrong resources, I am.
The cost were having to pay to get new conditioners etc from a Master Artisan is getting out of hand. I don't have the resources to start a run of 20, I just want two dammit.. two lone power cores for a PA hall and this bug has cost me more than what we'll sell the PA hall for.

The only thing i can add to what you have already said is to make sure and unload every item from the crate before starting the run.
You are probably going to say you know and are doing that but i am just trying to help
.
I was making wall units and the factory ate everything because i put the structure modules in the input hopper in their seperate factory crates.
The next run i unloaded everything and it worked. I had 2 spare structure modules but it ate them.
Come to think of it the factories eat all unused components I would try making a schematic for 100 but put only the ingredients for 1 run it do it again. It might at least cut your losses.
I have made 20 power core units and did not need to put extra or any of this that im reading here...is this a bug that seems to happen sometimes....here let me tell you what i did to make my power cores and not fail one or lose any or anything else im reading here.
1st make yourself 11 Generator Turbines in your factory....next make the other 2 master artisan items(names evade me yet again on these)in a equipment factory or buy them....bought 20 of ea from a friend.
Next is you make the Power Core schemetic....take one of those generator turbines yah made in your factory from the 11...you now have 10 left..now take the other 2 items needed and use the proper resources you will have enough off to make 10 more in your factory. Now take that schemetic for the power core over to your factory....Load it up with 10 GT , and 10 of ea of the other 2 items(make sure the serials of the components match the schemetic serials)and x10 the resources yah need to make one core , put all this in the ingredient hopper...start manufacturing. When its done you should have 2 crates with 5 a piece....i have done this 3 times now and now have 30 identical power cores...no failures , no extra resources were added in or anything else.
Unless this is a random bug...i have yet to experience it.
I have had the same problem. I am a master architect on Intrepid, and I have been making things in factories for some time. Kindly skip all of the "you have to use identical ingredients" advice. This in know. I always put in exactly the amount of resources I need for the number of items I want to make, plus 1. So, if I need to make ten of something, and I need 10 resources per, that's 100, and I put in 101. Call is silly, but it works for me. I have found that whenI put in exact numbers, it sometimes eats the last one.
Anyway, I was trying to make 4 identical power cores, put in the right stuff, double checked all serial numbers, etc. It gave me back 3 and ate the stuff for the last one. Then I tried to make just one, and it ate that one too. I am guessing that if I make a big enough run,I might get a few workable items. Not sure.
Bottom line, you are not imagining it. Sounds like it is happening to a lot of us trying to make PA halls. I guess we will just have to raise our prices . . . .

identical powercore units.
make some identical generator turbines.
have a master artisan make you identical pieces for the parts needed from master artisan(or make them yourself if you're a master artisan)
you must use a factory to do all this.
then make a schematic for using the identical items then you are good to go.
