Just ask yourself this though.... "Why is furniture in the architech tree?"

There is not one architech in real life that i know that has ever designed/build a peice of furniture.

This is the best opportunity to replace something that shouldn't be in our profession with something that should. If you can't/won't see this then you are being far too closed minded.

Frank Lloyd Wright, one of the most famous American architects, designed every stick of furniture, every window, every door, every cabinet, every clock, every decoration, etc., etc., etc.,in many of the buildings he built.

Ok, that makes more sense than. I was wondering why you were jumping all over me. I gave a good reason why not to do it.

why drop it from architect? just add those things into the construction

i mean, the construction line is lame. you can't even experiement until you get like level 3 or 4 without still having 1 skill point.

Actually many Architechts is real life design furniture, or at least used to. Frank Lloyd Wright (sp?) designed his homes and often designed the furniture for the style. This is not uncommon practice for many of the more prestigous designers. They also designed things like lighting fixtures and switches etc.. to go with thier home ideas.

Of course they did not do the actual hammering on the building, that is left to Construction crews.

I think I'll have to change my opinion andagree with Braan

Personally I hate furniture. I hate making.I hate selling it. I hate they way most furnitureis just buttugly in this game. I hate people that think they are doing me a great favor by buying furniture from at at really stupid low prices. I've stopped taking orders for it save for those put in by friends. I'll make some and put it on the bazaar, like those hidious torches everyone must buy. Those are factory made however.

With all that said, furniture should stay in the architech line as it doesn't fit anywhere else. Some furniture can and should be moved to artisan, as they can make harvestors, food, clothes, guns. Though all the ugly furniture should be moved there, ie most, and a lot of good looking furniture that can be customized should be brought in for architechs as a replacement.

The city structure idea for the construction branch is a great idea and looks to be in the works. Guess we'll have to wait for that to come out.

I see some potential problems with the city building idea. Some buildings would be good but others like cloning facilities and starports could cause problems. Depends on they would implement it. If you can just build them and place them you could have them all over the planet. Next thing you know the planet could start to look like Coruscant (sp?). All buildings with no areas to check out for the newbies. Unless you want to relegate a newbie to the no build planets of Dathomir, Endor, or Yavin. They would be quiting in frustration real quick. A lot of this of course will depend on how the player city system is set up. Can they limit the number of starports in one? Can you build one right away? Or is there going to be some size of requirement? Twenty houses until they have a cantina. Forty to med center. Something like that. Also don't forget about the space expansion. Someone will have to build those ships. So it's either going to be a whole new profession. Or if they incorporate it into an exisiting profession architect is the most likely.

I think when they still planned on having player cities in on release you would be able to build new things depending on how many residents you have.

For example, the following numbers are pulled out of the air:

20 residents you can build a shuttle port

50 residents you can build a starport.

Something like that is what I think they planned on having.

That's a dumb idea. Why do you have to drop a tree from architect? We already have an entirely worthless tree that you can replace. Keep furniture (add more furniture) and replace consrtuction with something useful like this.

Not to mention this shift would also make the Artisan class much more viable.

So far they have what thats really worth anything... powerups, and a couple of components that the elites need. Is this really what we want a whole class making? the same few things out of an entire profession?

Good to hear. Was hoping that they would have size requirements. Any idea if they are going to have no build zones around them like existing cities? Wasn't sure if that was even possible. Would rather not seen a bunch of harvestors and wind generators sitting in the middle of downtown *insert town name here*. Still not sure about the starport thing. The rest of the buildings I'm ok with. Just not with starports. Not sure why though.
