Thread: Drop furniture from architech and replace it with town specific buildings
Why don't we keep this simple. All this bickering and fighting about things that are easy to decide. Everyone wants to be right.
Let an artisan be the stepping stone to what it is.. Artistry. Architects are a mix of two classes anyways. More art than science, but surely both.
We know Architects as designers and builders.
We also know that Engineers are designers and builders.
Both of different value and class.
Crafters are considered people who do work with their hands(not exactly drawers of plans, but the creators of personal worth.)
If an Architect wants furniture in a house/building he either creates something that isaPART of the house/building or he has someone(who has time) to make furniture that is grand and to his/her scale.
A pilot is a pilot(not a mechanic). As with drivers of cars, they don't always build them.
An engineer might design/build major parts to a car, but who creates the modified interiors.
The original tier system is a great idea. Those of you who get on here to whine and pout about petty things... (you may never think so) need to bring about a way around your problems. It's a shady sad way to make this stuff better.
I do think a lot of people have identified many missing pieces in the Furniture branch and I can see an entire profession built out of it. Something like "plants" could have 4 entire skills for it based on the variety of plants we see in some cities. Have flags/signs/banners for another skill branch, furniture colorization for another, then more styles for the last. Probably a pretty viable profession.
The downside of moving furniture (or making another advanced profession out of it) is that many people who are already Master Architects and prefer furniture now would have to surrender skillpoints and work to get it. This could cause a lot of waves as some would argue the "missing" furniture/skills should have been in the original Furniture line.
Perhaps we'll see "Elite" professions in an expansion pack. You could have an Interior Design profession that requires the Furniture branch in the Architect tree. This would require more skill points though.
It may be too late to revamp skill trees and such. People already have a lot invested in things already and any major changes would cause a lot of unhappiness!
Shoot.. re-organizing the skill tree can't be that bad. People may complain.. but do you think anyone would really quit playing?
Getting rid of furniture is obviously a bad idea.. I don't think anyone means that in any way. Getting it out of Architect is a good idea in my opinion. I realize many people liked to be called 'Architects', but that's not what Architects do anyways.
Give it it's own skill tree. Seperate the skill trees appropriately before it's too late, or that's what I say.
