Thread: Housing prices from a Master Architect
My formula is
total resources(3.5)+6% that puts a medium house at 77.5k. I think people are finally starting to realize that a medium house for 30k it a total joke. from the seller standpoint why lose money and from the buyer standpoint that a house isn't a disposible purchase in the long run. I will take a sample of cr/units on resources and adjusting my prices to match. Just like in real life...supply and emand
Some of you may have misunderstood the point of this thread
My prices are not set for the better of the economy. My prices are set for the better of the economy of me and my PA. I really dont'care abotu undercutting and actually encourage it in all markets. it makes for fair trade. I know that if I sold a small housr for 5k and a medium for 25k that I'd still be making a profit and so would anyone else who mined their own resources. This is not about making a union or getting people to set prices at a certain level.
There's nothing wrong with people making a smaller profit to sell in volume when they want to build more items to make it to master. It actually really erks me to see people bashing others for exercising their right to a free economy.
The point that I'm trying to make is this:
"Why would a Master Architect ever sell a house for less money than they can get for the resources?"
If you are a Novice Architect then, by all means, do whatever it takes to move items. Sell for 1cr per unit if you can make a profit doing it! It won't affect me if i can just sell the resources for more money. You need to build more to get exp.

I will not sell any structures for less than 5:1 on Corbantis. I'm tired of feeling like im being ripped off while Armorsmiths bring in 100k for a suit of armor.
People don't like it then fine I'll sell my resources in the bazaar
Well if you actually think about the state of the architect all prices are to low. Not even basing prices on resources needed or what lvl you have reached is right in my opinion.
Let me elaborate a little. In our current state all items we build once built are there forever unless accidently deleted. So what does this mean do you ask? This means once we sell some one a house the furniture to make it cozy and harvesters to help them out and factories to make there goods we are not needed any more. If just for this reason alone all prices are way to low. Our buy once and forget items should have high price tags if for no other reason Than once they are purchased they never go away.
100 k is nothing for a fighter to make in 2 days of doing missions. But we sell a house for way less than this. houses are luxury items. They should carry a price tag that requires days to obtain not hours. i know this is not feasable now as no one will get together and make standard pricing. But if the devs do not change the way our items work we are a dieng class. I will always remain a architect but the way i see it i will be building less and less as the game progress.
For these reasons i sell all my items for 6 cr per resource used then rounded up to the nearest thousand or diviser of 5000. I sell enough to keep me going and have friends who help me when needed. For those who dont like my prices i usually do a search and refer them to the next architect on the list.
Well thats my 2 cents, my prices and thereason behind them
It's also against the law to own mining, manufacturing, and distrubition of a product. What do you think happened to Standard Oil?

Anyway, I suppose in this type of "economy" you can't punish people for price collusion like you can in real life, where it's against the law But there will always be someone to undercut you if you try to "fix" prices.
ISN'T THIS IRONIC:
For manufacturers to band together and set prices on items is actually very immoral and to top it off, it's illegal in the real world.
The ironic things is that the people who try to band together and set prices are acting like the people who practice fair trade and competition by setting their own prices are the ones who are immoral.
Go figure...

Thank you for posting this, it was needed to be said.
Now if we can just show people a schematic of how much resources it actually takes, we can prove it to them (even though some people do know and still cry about it)
Make an afk message that tells a person right away what you want to say to them, so they know what they are getting in to.
Joe Lightsaberwannabe: Hiya , i heard you make houses....
Solen afk message: If you get me all of the ore, i will make it for you and charge 5K, period
Looks to be around 50% overpriced on each item. 'Prices' for resources are out of whack, because so little is sold. People are still grinding and so using up their own stuff or trading it for structures (which is a great deal for any struggling architect, and always will be).
Example - power often sells for than 2 credits per unit, however, my Solars make 65% * 8 * 60 * 24 = 7500 per day, and that costs me 1440 maintenance, and I really only have to visit every other day. Valuing Solar power at 1 credit means I make 6k profit every day, which means they pay for themselves in 3 days tops. In other words, the 'proper' price for power ought to be less than 1 per, probably more like3/4credit (at which point I make7500*.75=5625 minus 1440 which is over4k/day). Even poorer spots wouldnet me around 3k day.
So if power is 3/4 credit, then the cost of producing resources, using mediums or personals (since mediums just double everything) is (asuming 60% efficiency, and I currently have a few 80s) 3500 resources per day (for a medium or 2 personals), at a cost of 1440 maint and 900 credits on power(1200 power times .75 credits) or 2300. If resources are worth 1.25 credits then you make 4375 minus 2300 or 1k per day. Call resources 1.5 and you make 5250 minus 2300 or nearly 2k per day per medium. At 2 credits per resource you're making 7k-2300 or over 4.5k per medium harvester, which are cheaper than solars!
In other words, I just don't see how the true value of resources, even assuming a decent return for the effort and cost of the unit, being more than 1 credit per power and 2 tops for 'normal'minerals(not rare on that planet at that time).
Which means your houses are about 50% overpriced ![]()
You are right they are over priced! As I said in the original post "I probably won't sell any houses at that price" but the reality is that i CAN sell resources(does not particularly have to be ore) raw for more than I can sell a finished house for.
Therefor I have no reason to produce and sell houses out of my PA for any less money until such time as I can no longer get the amount of money i'm getting now for the raw materials.
It's all in how you look at it:
Glass is half full / Glass is half empty
Houses are underpriced / Raw materials are overpriced
Either way my time goes to the highest bidder. When things change then so will my marketing strategy.
ahazi tatoonie silmaril
small houses for 9k (if you provide the material its 1k)
medium houses 55k (10k if you provide the resources)
medium harvesters 15k (3k if you provide the resources)
uhmm...havent decided on factories
made one, the guy provided all the resources and he tiped me 3k
woot!
sil
as far as the guy charging 25k for medium harvesters.. i assume you've never failed on a wall module before. you do know that you are getting roughly 2 credits for your trouble right? even if you dont have failure rates.. this sounds really off.. or you love running missions for your customers.. heh..
i haven't double checked the rest of all the numbers.. but some of the math on this thread is way off..
