Thread: Housing prices from a Master Architect

Just tonight I reached Master Architect. Before this, I was selling houses for roughly 2.5X the amount of resources it took. I made a great profit from this because minerals cost less than 1cr per unit even on poor desnity areas. I made and sold houses to get the experince needed to get to master but now I don't need exp anymore.

I got to thinking about the price minerals go for on my server (Chilastra) which is about 4 cr per unit. What this means is that i can make ALOT more money if I never even make the houses and just sell the resources. Nobody will buy a house for 4cr per unit. That would make small houses about 14k, Meduim houses about 80k and large houses about 150k and that's not counting payment for my time and effort and does not compensate for crit fails or schematics. Counting all that my new prices are:

Small house: 15k

Medium house: 90k

Large house: 175k

Now I'm positive that nobody will buy the houses from me but the fact is that I can sell the resources and make the same money and not waste my time dealing with customers and their deals (you've heard them, "can I trade you a small house and x credits for a medium one" or "how much if i supply 500 ore?").

When more people get to Master Architect you will see more and more that house prices will go up and will stay there until the market for the raw materials drops (which is bound to happen).

People complaining about the economy being messed up may want to check back in a month or so...everything will be nice and even.

Same here. I'm master architect and I'm really thinking about upping some of my price. I'm no longer doing small houses for lower than 12k and med for lower than 60k even if I see a lot of small house 3k and med 30k. I'm think about upping all my prices to get at least 3,5-4 per ressource, otherwise I will just put all my harvester on the wanted minerals and sell it for 3c-4c since it'S wanted minerals hehe

Here is my basic pricing scheme, it works well for me

Small Houses - $10k

Med Houses - $55k

Large Houses - $110k

Factories - $35k

Med Harvesters - $25k

Large Harvesters - $65k

Small houses are a commodity - people chew through them like candy, I'm willing to reduce the price to $10k and get them 'hooked' if you will so they come back and purchase the Meds and Lrgs, which they are doing.

Resource pricing will drop in the future here, most people are buying resources now from the bzr because they want to power the exp. Once people begin to master their repespective areas, the demand will drop off and so will the prices.

Master here too on Flurry. I'm not selling another building for less than 5c per building...not a single one. I sell small homes for 20k. They are the basic level building anyone would need, so the price is a bit higher. If my prices are too high, I could care less. I'll sell my resources on the bazaar and incurr zero risk. I'm done having my heart skip a beat for a meere 3c per unit of resource used every time I press the assemble button.

I think some of the above posters missed the point of this thread.

55k for a medium ? 110k for a large ? And you think you are charging enough ? Lets look at this a moment. A large home takes 30k ore, you can make 150k on 30k ore selling it on the black market ! And that is just one component, no factory time, no risk of combine failure. A large home should be closer to 200-250k once you factor in the risk and skill cost and honestly I think that is to cheap.

I am all for this "union". I play on Chilastra, based on Rori. Though I am not quite a Master, I think that a solid effort by all of us Architects should be made to keep the prices high enough that we dont cut eachother out of the market.

Currently I have been selling to non-PA members for 3.5credits per. Roughly that equates to 12,500 for smalls, and 80-85 for Mediums, with medium harvesters coming in around 12k as well. Once I hit master, 4.5-5cr/unit will be my target pricing, justas stated, the exp will no longer be a benefit to me.

Serano,

On Chilastra here too (not a Master yet, but very soon) and I already adopt similar prices, and am determined not to undersell myself or my trade. I know of another Master Architect on Chilastra who already adopts a very similar pricing policy. It would be great to see the trade stabilize itself a little more.

I TRULY hope you're right, Serano. The market is incredibly frustrating right now. I JUST made it to architect and was out trying to sell a small naboo for 12k when I was called out on that price in public chat by a player named Lasic on the Gorath server. I told him that I had done the math and thought my prices were fair, and he made sure to make it known that he was just going to go buy from a guy who was selling them for 7.5K. I told him good luck getting there in time, becauseguy selling at those prices wouldn't be able to stay in business long.

I also sent him a tell later saying that I'd return the favor next time I saw him trying to do business. He replied in an email that he never sells anything so he doesn't really care. It would take a guy like that to not understand that it is beyond un-cool to call out an honest merchant in public chat like that. So to anyone else who might read this who hasn't thought twice about it--if you see something you want to buy, but don't like the price, send a tell to the merchant with your best offer. Don't be an ass and question their pricing in public chat at a bank. Especially if you have no idea what you're freakin talking about.

Guess its time to stockpile structural/wall modules and wait for the market to even out. I agree with the pricing structure in this thread and hope to be able to sell at those prices soon.

Why should players care how much ore goes into a small house? They don't care. They only know 2 things. How much value they get from a house and how much other people are selling houses for. The problem with houses right now is that people don't get much value out of them. They are the worst sort of luxury item in that they not only have a cost in credits, they also have an opportunity cost in that you can't use that lot for something productive. I think that once player cities are implemented people will need to buy a house in an area to become a member. Once people have a reason to own a house the demand will go up rapidly and the prices will jump.

I have resolved not to make small houses anymore due to the flood in the market. Maybe if it evens out, but definitely not right now. My skills and resources are much better off concentrating on other structures. I do have a small stockpile, maybe 6, of small Naboo houses, which I keep on my vendor at 14k. I put these up for sale two days ago, and have already sold two of them, neither of each times did I have to defend my pricing.

Also, since I've started reading and posting on these boards with more frequency, I am getting more and more business from other players who frequent here as well. Players who know what's going on, and players who understand the value of the architect skill and product.

It is a waste of my time to try pushing my products in a public market. I don't have the time and energy to defend my trade when a Building-1-trained Architect is dumping houses for 6k at the Starport.

Made Master last night. Prices are going up. Let the underlings do smalls. Not worth the time.

I do not defend my prices and I will not. If it comes up I send them down the road. If they persist they go on ignore.
