Thread: Factory crates

Just to look at it a little more closely, it costs 2000 units of materials to make 4 crates of synthetic cloth. Selling at 1500 per crate is like selling the resources at 3cpu. This certainly seems low, and I could have made 4cpu just selling the resources on the bazaar. It takes 3000 units of materials to make 4 crates of RFPs. Selling at 3000 per crate is like selling the resources at 4cpu. This is a bit better.

The truth is that I sell far more RFPs than SCs, so I don't really mind taking the hit. I'm still making a small profit on them and it gets more people into the shop. That is the real key. If you can sell a SC crate at 1500 and have that same customer walk out with a flight suit then you have had a big success.

I sell crates of Synth Cloth for 2500 on the Bazaar, 2000 out of my vendor.

Ok the problem im having is that Factory crates inside factory's dont work, i hear of every other proffesion being able to use factory crates, inside there factory's but structuralmodules dont work inside factory's makes me very annoyed. It takes for ever to craft walls and so many walls are needed to make structures.

I have a crate containing 84 structural modules that won't unload, and I've had it for 3 weeks. Everyday I try it, everyday it won't unload.

I have not yet seen my factory unload structure modules. I've been very careful with my schematics... the factory simply stops after producing zero structure modules.

One thing I noticed is that, even when made I made the wall schematic with identical structure modules, when I loaded the schematic into the factory, the ingredients list said 'structure modules []' (square box). Perhaps the fact that it wasn't remembering the serial# of the structure modules is the cause of this problem; perhaps not.

Has anyone actually seen a factory unload a structure module? Has anyone noticed this bit with the schematic not including the serial # of the structure modules? Anyone have a clue? Its REALLY important that I start being able to load up my factory for big production runs.

No success with using crates of structural modules in a factory either. It's very annoying, because it would be easier to build the walls by hand rather than load them in the factory. But of course, the schematic requires factory built walls, grrr.

I've had items stuck in crates, which was fixed by logging, too.

I don't believe there are any more schematics that require identical walls.

Isn't it impossible to produce more than 9 identical walls? You can only make 100 identical structure modules max, 10 go into the wall schmatic, leaving 90 left for the run (producing 9 walls). Or am I missing something?

If the above is true, then they removed the identical walls requirement when they changed the factory/schematic limits to 100 because it would be impossible to make a pa hall (which usse to require 15 or 17 identical walls).

Could be wrong.

Different factory runs using the same schematic will produce items with the same serial number. However, I've been playing my creature handler in the past two or three weeks, so I don't know if they have changed this. If so, hooray!

You can produce 1000 structure modules off the same schematic by manually setting the count to 1000 (and, if they change that, then architects are TOTALLY screwed).

You can only produce 9 walls at a time because the input hopper only has room for 100 items - 90 structure modules + ore + metal leaves no more room.

Has anyone actually seen a factory produce walls from structure modules that are in crates? It looks like the answer is 'no'.

I've created crated walls... but I only did it once. I had to sit and babysit the ingredient hopper and continually add struct modules to it so it would have them there to create the next wall. It was a total pain in the ass. SO no wI just make my walls by hand until they will pull out of crates.

yeah that is a great question... has anyone made wall units by putting crates of structure modules in a factory without taking all the modules out of the crates first?

I'm afraid to put the crate in there and get nowall unitsand the materials get eaten. I would have 5 simultaneous heart attacks.

but unloading 100 structure mods by hand and dragging them one at a time over to the factory is almost as bad as just making the wall units yourself.

Factories will not uncrate structural modules.

I've encountered this bug as well. My workaround is this:

Cross a server boundary. How can you tell you've hit one? If you have a pet, when it stops following you for no reason, then you've reached one. It's a bug, but it works for this.

When you cross the boundary, don't be alarmed when the picture of your components turn into generic organic pictures. It will still craft your item normally and you will be able to pull those stuck items from crates.

Also, factories will not remove structure modules from crates. I have tried unpacking 1 to see if it will pull the rest, but nothing happened. I have yet to try unpacking 10 structure modules...

Good Luck,
