Thread: People that are selling houses for 10K You are RUINING the market

The biggest problem (and this just isn't with architects) is that the road to Master anything is broken.

The idea that you can make master architect just by building houses & harvesters is silly. You should have to build x number (or maybe x%, i don't know) of each item in the profession before you can become Master anything.

How can you be a master furniture maker if you've never made a piece of furniture? How can you be a master artisan when you don't create any clothes? Build 1,200 muzzles and you're a Master Artisan and a Novice Armorsmith. That's dumb.

Dump the apprentice program (or make it so that you have to build EVERYTHING in the tree in addition to the apprentice points) before you can become a master.

Would this stop the 5-day Master Architect? Probably not - it would just make him the 10 or 20-day architect.

I don't have answers except to say that until things artisans build decay at a MUCH faster rate, Artisans will slowly die out until you only have the massive PAs doing them.

As a consumer, I can see his point. There's no difference between a house that has been majorly experimented on vs. one a guy threw together with crap materials (except failure rate). I'd go with the lowest priced house as well.

I've got a novice Architect on Naritus that I'm going to dump. It just isn't worth the time or money to keep him going. I guess I'll be a combat class like everyone else and just buy from the builders that are brave, powerful, or foolish enough to stick with it.

You may think we are ruining the market at the 10-15 k range I feel I am building a loyal customer base who will want to return to me when they buy med and large houses thats where the money is. I would even sell them for less to squeeze the whining out of our industry, but I am a businessman and in it for the profit only. Let the free market rule. I do NOT lose money at 10k no matter what you think. I am not part of a PA or have a million people running around helping me. I am efficient and put care into my service. Most my sales at this point are word of mouth refersals.

So you take your 25,000 credit small house build it far away from the rest of us and power level to Armor smith or Weaponsmith and rip off your customers.

Here's the solution, all you frustrated architects: Buy out your competition.

Buy up every single 10k house you can possibly get and turn around and sell them for 20k

well in the past day....in my area people are now expecting them to cost 6-7K because Joe LightRunner was selling them for that...

I want to sell for 20K...i think taht that is a very very fair price...but i am forced to sell for 15K...in a few days i will probably have to sell for 8K

even selling at 15K most people have never ever told me hey thats outlandish...usually the response is cool let me go do a couple of missions and i'll get back to you...

but isnt this problem really caused by the fact that they increased the XP needed so people are spam building houses...

I am sorry to say that in this respect, I really think the devs do not know what they are doing...everytime they raise XP it hurts the economy and the players in general since the only way to level is to build more stuff.

It doesnt really slow anyone down except causal or non-PA aligned characters.

I mean Master archtiects in 3 days...

They either need to TRIPLE UXP or lower the XP needed to advance..or jsut let us BUY XP points with credits we earn...

There now already probably exists more houses than players...

LOL no, what you are doing is setting yourself up for a big let down. Based on your theory people are not going to want to pay more for a large home, they are going to want it for 10-15K more than the small.. This is how business works, or the other scenario will be you will get under cut, and people will just give the large homes away just like the small ones..

they way i determined my prices is beta way by wall modules...

each wall module takes 10 structure modules which take 200 ore a piece...

i determined that the cost of each strcuture module was 100 credits...2 credits per ore, which i think everyone will agree is a fair market price.

Therefore each wall module adds 10K to the base price of anything since it takes 10 structure modules

so a small home would be 10K base plus the cost of all the other materials and your labor and your profit...between 15-20K is a fair and resonable price.

a factory takes 3 wall modules so those should have a base of 30K

i found that this was an easy way of explaining prices to people...most players have no clue whats involved in making anything...their mind set is that a power up takes 5 metal and 5 chemical...they dont realize that it takes over 10K ore just to build some of the larger structures...

I think if people ask to buy a house for under 10k, I am going to tell them I will....IF they supply the components. Fair enough in my opinion, since it takes alot of time to do that before you can even create the deed. What do you think?

I use 5 creds/unit myself. I think you can get away with 6 creds/unit though. Personally I feel that resources are worth 3 creds/unit. I can quickly sell every resource I have for that price. So selling any commodity you make for less than 3 creds/unit is stupid. Why put all the work into makeing something when you could sell the individual resources for the same price or more. I sell small homes for 15K. That's like 4.8 or so per resource. I refuse to sell factories for less than 65K though. It takes 13430 resources to make them. The two factories that I've made so far, I've lost at least one component. Most expensive was a generator turbine (1400 resources). To buy the resources alone would take at least 40K. Asking for a 50% markup to cover time and critical failures is not too much to ask.

There is no way an average person can do this. There are PA's out there that have 50+ ore havestors setup I would guess. Just an estimate, but I would guess that is 25 houses a day or so. No average player will be able to come up with 250k a day. Fine if you do it one day, but then there is the next and the next and the next.....

Actually 10K doesn't sound too bad after I heard there is someone on Eclipse selling them for 6k. Haven't seen him, just heard of it. 3k for a small hosue probably won't happen but it will be very close, it will get o the point that 100c profit on a hosue will be all you get. At that point I'll be switching to a fighter and buying all the crap I need at the rediculous prices. If this keeps up there won't be a single crafter left after a month or 2. I can't wait for starships to be 20k credits. At the moment I'm just planning on getting my PA hall build and a bunch of other extras I'll keep around and switch professions. Crafting turned out a lot different than I expected. Playing 30ish hours in the first 4 days basically put me half way behind, that is just nutz. I can't see how a person could start the game now and still get into it(at least a crafting proffesion).

Perhaps they(devs) could impliment something that Evenline had...If you tried to sell items at under the average market price, you were slapped with a large fine(and warned also). -my 2 creds worth...
