Thread: is your bussiness dead on your server?
My business is actually doing good. I'm on Chilastra, currently located in Tusken's Bane on Tatooine. It's a player city (well, what acts as a player city until they really put them in the game). So, there is always a need for furniture and plants by all these people. Houses.....now they don't sell too often. And I'll tell you my opinion about the drop in business everywhere. It's the missions. Missions don't pay out what they used to. Nobody has money anymore and the economy is going to flounder very soon. Those with money buy things from us and then the money they gave us go into our harvesters and so forth. That money is now out of circulation. It's dead money. No one will ever see it again. And there isn't enough money coming into the economy (via missions) so that people can afford to buy things from us. The economy as a whole is dieing, not just our profession's economy.
Not sure exactly how the economy works, so this may not be a good solution, but I know as a *consumer* of buildings, etc. it would seriously piss me off if my stuff decayed. So, why not do this...
The more 'stuff' (regardless of what it is) is in a building, the more maintenance it costs to keep it.
Maintenance fees go to the Architect who built the structure.
Just a thought...

Different things off of different houses go wrong, novice archs could only fix certin things, but masters could fix them all?
And it actually took resources to fix them?
Ya that would be cool, something else for us to do, plus it would make us do a bit of fighting, seeing as we would have to defend ourselves out in the wild and all. =)

I'm on Starsider also, and I can attest to the fact that something has changed in the last few days. I'm not a crafter, but I run a mining operation selling bulk resourses out of my vendor near Bestine. For the last couple weeks I was having my entire inventory cleared out almost every day, however, starting a few days ago, my sales have almost completely dried up. I think there are several reasons why this might have happened...
1. As has been pointed out, people are able to share houses, and thus not everyone needs a house anymore.
2. Medium houses, which demand more resourses, are not worth what they used to be because of the lowered limit on items in houses.
3. Crafters, who usually have most of the money to spend, are either quitting the game or moving to other servers because of the lack of a resourse shift on Starsider in nearly a month.
4. Combat proffessions are making less on missions and now can't afford as many big ticket items.
5. The lowering of the difficulty of faction destroy missions means that a lot more players are now focusing on earning faction points in order to get cool faction perks, rather then spending their time earning money for houses and such.
6. All of the duping, which might be stopped now, still had an effect in that it created a bubble in the market where housing sales were extra hot for a few weeks, but have now dried up.
As for the problem with structures not decaying, I think a better solution would be to just keep adding more types of schematics to the architect tree. There is tons of NPC furniture in the game that is not craftable, and it wouldn't be hard to start taking some of the generic buildings and towers that are in the various cities, giving them interiors, and then making them craftable by architects. Sure, there will always be some players who will stick with their one style of house and never move on to anything new, but I think there would also be plenty of players who would desire to upgrade every month of two to whatever new cool house was now craftable. Player towns would also start to look a lot more interesting if there was a wider variety of houses available. Seeing a field of identicalSmall Tatooine Houses arranged in a perfect grid just doesn't seem all that special.
Wow, that's too bad...takes weeks to build a home?
**edit**, too bad it's so difficult...wait, what am I saying...
You know what...this gives me an idea...devs should add rental properties in cities and Architects should be allowed to build rental properties. The owner can then rent out individual 'rooms' in the buildings.
Just like in real life, it SHOULD be difficult to afford a home.
Then people could rent a small space until they can afford to buy a home.

LMAOROFL, this is SO true.
well..i wouldnt know...i kind of gave up archtiechet...i am probably the only Master architect who never builds anything...i havent built anything in about 3 weeks
It is just too much of a hassle dealing with the low yield ore fields....if i find a decent patch ever i will mine it and build something i guess...i never have enough of 1 type of ore to make a factory run practical...and i hate building structure modules by hand...
the best way to sell i have found is to go to build all the componets before hand and then take them into town with your droid and wait for someone to yel "I need a ______" and then combine them on the spot...
the sad thing is that it is more profitable to just mine some metal for a few days and just sell that..it is also much easier than clicking and clicking and failing on combines...
also take into account that with many of the devs ridiculase changes many many people have given up crafting and are just giving their factorys and what not away...and now that admin privlages work, many people are sharing houses and finally using the PA halls...
Most of our customers are just other crafters...we really need some destroyable military type structures to sell combat types becuase we have sold all we can to the chefs and tailors
no no no...
The DECAY SYSTEM is not supposed to make buildings disappear... But rather raise the structure cost of maintanence... So eventually people will want to have a new deed made.. However you should be able to feed the deed into your old structure to reset it, so you wouldnt have to do all your furniture again in a house for instance.
This is the best solution to our problem.
