Thread: is your bussiness dead on your server?
I just made master architect last night and I seriously have to wonder if I have been wasting my time.
PROS
I can make houses/installations/furniture for my friends and PA mates
I have met a lot of nice people
It fed my desire to tinker with stuff without having to grind so many small items to go up in level
CONS
No one buys anything anymore (everyone is a one time customer in effect)
I have met a lot of ill informed people (resource pricing)
Sucks up 2/3 of my exp. (Master Artisan for me. I know I don't need it but some items require it.)
Yes, business sucks right now. 2 weeks ago I had 3 tells going at once whenever I logged in. Now I get inquiries on my prices once a nightand thats it.
I feel for you guys. I hope the devs do something about it besides cities cos that in itself will just be a bandaid on the overall issue.
While I am not actively persuing new business right now, I have definately noticed a slow-down in the houseing/installation market. I too enjoyed having several orders for medium houses every week, and now am down to one small house and 2 large harvestors on my to-do list for this week. Rather than lament the sagging housing market, I am looking to diversify. Originally I intended to sacrifice Master Artisan so that I could get my Master Architect. But now, I am holding off on Master Arch, and using my Master Artisan and Medics skill to diversify my buisness. I have a decent business in electronic components and stim/wound packs running now and intend to support that business for the time being. I still sell my architect items houses/installations/furniture but try not to focus on them as my sole line of business.
Cheers!

Only guy selling is selling everything at 1 credit per unit used. and everyone is buying from him. All refuse to pay more than that.. Basically get lauged at as they walk away.
Have been selling some furniture though.. but that is slowing down as well..

Yep, before big pitch last week I was selling between 40-80 items from my vender and about 50 items on the bazaar every 24hrs without fail and had 600k in bank and about 500k in stocked pre made products. Doing so well I was subcontracting deeds from other architects, marking up and selling out on my vender. I was on top of the world!
Tipping medics and dancers 1-5k a pop. Spending about 50k a day on friends when they needed weapons or training. Buying droids a dozen at a time to help out our fellow DE's. Buying all non architect stuff from novice crafters, instruments, meds, clothes etc.,and selling them through my vender helping them out to. I had about half dozen peopleon the payroll. Everyone was happy. Then comes the patch.
1st day after patch I sold about 4 deeds and 10 items from vender and about 20 items on the bazaar. Over the next few days 1 deed, and 4-5 items on vender and about 10 items on bazaar, last 24hrs 0 deeds, 0 items from my vender, and 2 torches on the bazaar. I have less then 100k in bank, have shut down half my harvesters, I felt bad so Iordered one last shipment of products from my subcontractors and notified them I am closing down the shop. Marked all items on my vender down to less then 50% of the low price I was charging before, and payed up 2days maintance on everything. After that the shop is comming down and I am untraining all but some furniture, medium harvs, and mediumhouses, and laying low till player citys come.
It is a shame, as hard as it is being an architect I had still managed to get by and helped others manage with there professions as well and then the economy is destroyed in one massive shot, 5-6 days was all it took.
Well theres allways Weaponsmith 8o) gotta go where the love is I guess. /lol
Take care all,
Drew'Nylundson - Formerly of Drews Bazaar -323 -5712,Straight south of Coronet on Chilistra - (12)small houses 8k, (24)Medium Mineral Harvesters-Water Harvesters-SolarGens 15k, (1)Wearables+(1)Food Factories 35k, Medium Corellian House(50k), and a bunch of furniture all marked 500c and below. (Amounts last I checked.)
We should get a small influx of business when they fix the harvesting mechanism and we can make medium/large floras, but that's not much.
It doesn't concern me too much; although I'd like to keep a steady business up, I also want to explore combat/PvP/factions for awhile. Hopefully decay will be implemented while I do that
The other problem though, and this affects other professions like DE is that faction pets and faction buildings should be made by faction based crafters not some magic faction point economy. The GCW is only just getting started. I would not be suprised to see it be the dominant game mechanic in 3 or 4 months. We architects should get to play in it too and not have to pick up a carbine to do it.
The faction point system is a huge short circuit and effectively prevents most crafting professions from participating in the GCW.
Architects in combination with weaponsmiths and perhaps armor smiths should be the faction building makers. DE's should be the faction droid/pet makers.
The faction point system should be modified to allow architects to make the turrets and other defensive structures. If they want to leave faction pts as a cost that is fine, but give faction UXP for turrets. However no TEF flags for turrets killing stuff since the architect probably will be no where close. Each enemy a turret kills is X faction points to the architect.
The schematic for the turret can then be X faction pts + Y resource + N sub-components. This is for the final combine, it would be great if other architects can build some of the sub components without requiring faction. For example power cores. Also there should be a "turret repair kit" made by architects to repair damaged turrets. No faction required for these, it could even be rolled into a generic "building repair kit". A user of the repair kit will get TEF.
I think it is plain unfair that weapon and armor smiths get to fully participate in producing products used in the GCW while the rest of us sit on the sidelines. Especially since faction buildings and bets obviously should be craftables.
I still do not think housing decay is the answer but being able to build structures that can be blown to bits? Definitely.
As a side note I have seen a small drop in demand for housing inquiries but I still get 1 or 2 an hour when I am in a town. I myself no longer make houses but I do direct the inquiries to a collegue in my PA who does build them.
However I am a little unique in that not that my gf has ramped up as a master weaponsmith I am in charge of resource extraction and therefore mostly build installations for myself.
Whoever posted that he thinks houses are TOO EXPENSIVE needs to get the hell out and get the freaking 37k of resources for a large house! Find out exactly how hard we work for that house! So many players are so very ignorant of what it takes that it's incredible.
I'm trying desperately to hang on, I sell about one fusion generator every three days, which is just enough to cover my harvs with a few missions run. Decay on structures really is the only option. We need a renewable resource.
It's no longer fun. It is now work. Devs, when the entire Architect profession tells you this, something needs to change. I doubt any of us are going to sell back our skills and try a combat character. We're just going to quit.
To the one who said houses are to expensive... It will take weeks to get the money for one.
How long does it take to get the money for a rl house?
Okay here are my 2C to this.
I have never sold that huge amount of structures or other artisan and architect items, I usually make arround 15k per day. That keeps me alive with a little extra so that I make profit, and I can buy items from other classes. So I havent seen a drop in sells, but I can imagine that this is going to happen, since the market is flooded with archs selling their stuff. (Sometimes for prices, I couldnt survive with).
So what is happening right now? Every one is getting their house and harvs and other structures, and as soon as they have it, you wont see him again. I dont think that structure decay is a good solution.
I think that crafting structures for the GCW will help in longterm. RL has proved that a war is always good for the industries. So if factioned buildings (also personal houses) are destroyed within a battle, this would be just as real as it gets. And it will keep the arch tree alive.
I also think that customization of houses and furniture (coloring) will help, at least as a mid term solution.

I'm noticing the same trend the rest of you have.
The "Master Architect" title used to insure that I would be bombarded with tells. Over the last 2 weeks that's not the case any more. The title just gets me tells for "Can you train me in <X>?" or "Know where any good ore spots are?" I'm making several times more in selling resources than I do in making anything. The only people who are asking me to make things are fellow PA members.
There are already great solutions to this problem (and some I'd like to propose):
- More schematics
- Aesthitic customization of crafted items/deeds
- Allow architects to build for the GCW
- Introduce deed repair kits so we can repair damage to deeds from being picked up and moved repeatedly
- Make the experimentation we do mean something instead of just increasing the complexity of an item
- Modular approach to house deeds where the architect can place where each room goes on a design board and then add the schematic to the datapad. This will give more diversity to houses of the same style. (I know this is probably hard to program in, but we need something! We got nothing in the last patch...)
I'll hold on to the profession for now... Hopefully we will have a system for continuing revenue in the future...

Master Architect
We all need to start charging higher prices. I have. I know others have. Not everyone will though. Those who grinded this profession only to serve their own or PA needs will probably get bored once that goal is accomplished and switch to combat. There are a few, like myself that like what we do, despite the hardships.
I only build structures on request anymore... Im not a master yet, but I have more than enough resources to grind it out if I so choose. I am just getting the exp as I get orders for things. Business is slow, but not dead for me. My prices have gone up some, but are not unfair.I still get that "well this other guy is selling a factory for 30k" I am currently charging 50k. I simply tell them to go buy it from the "other guy" I do not care.
Fewer architects would help. They should make it harder to level up. Its actually not that hard to get MA. Its a pain to get started, but after you do its easier, just takes time and alot of walking.
Combat Medic here
Sorry to hear about the troubles with your profession - decays of some sort seems to be the answer, my resources certainly need constant replacement!
I've been trying for a week now to find someone to build me a small factory. As business is so quiet for you guys, tenders are being accepted on Eclipse ![]()
