I say No to Both, or any Kind of Decay -

ONE -- you will screw it up if YOU try --

Two - Furniture become Heirlooms and priceless antiques when older -- So they go up in value NOT DOWN -- unless some fools break it --

Three - Mining installations already HAVE your nerf on them, with Resource Rolls Every 4 days - Forcing Movement of all Harvesters ---

Four - Well made Structures Last 1000's of years - So to make it right!! your decay rate, would have to be so slow, I would in Reality be Dead (or found a better game) Before my Structure truly Fell apart ...

Five - I am tiredof thinking for YOU ...

Ok IMHO

Wellone thing that should be looked at is giving the Architectsspecial schematics for house and harvester repair parts. That way they can be "contracted" to perform Housing and Harvester repairs. And really it wouldkeep theArchitect a viable profession over the long run.

Houses should only decay when the owner lets the maintance pool drops below zero. And this would be a on going effect, otherwise each time the pool drops below zero, thehouse wouldlose 10%. And when the house reaches 10% viablity then the player gets a auto-game mail, saying they have a set amount of time to retrieve the items from their house or get the house repaired.

If anythingharvesters could have a decay rate per hours used. For example for every 1000 hours run the decay would be 5%, and once the decay reached a certain point then the harvester wouldn't be as efficent. Personals could have a decay rate based on running time and not repairable, since they are fairly inexpensive to replace anyway.

I think a better way to handle this.

Have a portion of the maintence pay the homeowner pays goes into the pocket of the Archtiect who built the house

Or an archtitect could come to your home and make any repairs for a fee. But the idea of having to tear down your house and rebuild a new one would be a buzz kill.

/agree With introducing structure decay
/disagree With introducing furniture decay

Comments: /agree with furniture decay if it has a MUCH lower rate of decay. ie. 3-6months

this poll is too generic....

/disagree with structure decay - structures already decay. we pay maintenance and sometimes power. however, if an architect-made solution is to replace the need for maintenance money, then i will agree vehemently.

/disagree with furniture decay - no point. think the entire tailor profession. just give us color.

/disagree Furniture Decay

I disagree on in place structures decaying. We already have this in the form of Maintenance fees. I'd like to see re-deeding decay, but that isn't what the question was for.

I just flat out disagree on furniture decay. With the current house limitation people will do without furniture and for that matter houses if they have to replace them over time.

From what I've read, people who are in favor of decay are trying to ensure that architects will always have a job. People who are not in favor of decay are afraid of being overburdened with maintaining all of their structures and furniture.

It seems quite obvious to me that they are both correct. We must have item decay, and it must not overburden the players with maintenance.

Everyone should be voting in favor of decay. The real debate should be about how decay will be implemented.Itneeds to be simple to understand, simple for devs to implement, and not overly burdensome for the players.

Even if you've been voting against decay since day 1, list the arguments you've made against decay, and then find a solution to each argument. Most arguments that I've seenare valid! But, I haven't seen an argument yet that I couldn't come up with a solution for.

Examples:

Argument: "I already pay a ton of maintenance! Now I have to worry about decay too?!?"

Solution: When decay is implemented, the devs must ensure that the overall cost of keeping structures/furniture stays about the same. This will mean lowering maintenace rates.

Argument: "I don't want to have to keep checking all of my items all of the time to see if they're about to go poof! I've got enough on my mind!"

Solution: Decay for structures and furniture should be a very slow process, similar to real life. Here's a few ideas: 1) Furniture decays, but to keep repairing it from being a hassle, taking care ofall furniture decay is done through the structure management terminal that the furniture resides in. 2) Artisans can build Structure repair kits. Architects can build better ones. As long as you have one in your inventory, a Repair Structure option will appear in the radial menu every time you click to manage a structure. 3) Structures and furnitures never go poof. As structures decay, maintenace rates increase to a maximum of x times its normal cost. As furniture decays, its color fades and/or becomes uneven.

Even I see a few flaws in my own solutions, but to keep this post from being ridiculously long (too late!), I'm not going to write out airtight, detailedsolutions. But do you get the idea? And can you find goodsolutions?
