We pay maintenance correct? Whats that for? Are we just renting our own homes? No, we are maintaining them so they dont decay. Decay sounds to much like work, if you Dev's really want to work on something fix the Bugs, and add some content to this game! It has amazing potential, but you seem to be missing the bus.

I vote NO DECAY!

None. Work with experimenation. Make that the key for good things. Make decay happen if you DONT pay maintenance.

I do think that architects definitely need a way to guarantee return business. Unfortunately the way that it is now does not really lend itself to that. They need to implement new furniture at different times, color options so people can change the look of their houses, and maybe customizable house colors, and maybe customizable furniture.

If you give architects the tools to make things that are different and unique people will continue to buy new things.

Eventually architects will die out, for the most part, because the market will be flooded. New architects will have no chance to survive and make a living.

Considering how hard it is to place items in houses as it is right now, I would give up having a house altogether if I had to buy a new one even every month or two. Decay on houses and furniture is just a stupid idea.

/agree The structure should decay and if it gets below 50% the maintence rate should got up. The fix should be a repair kit for the house that you drop on the house terminal. These can vary from a minor repair ket that can restore 10 unit of damage to a structurem to the ones made by Masters that can restore 100 units. Now this is figuring a small house has a Structure rating of 50 and a PA hall at around 500. Now these numbers are just off the top of my head so things can change.

/disagree Furniture is not something I would do till we can better control placing and moving it around and in any case I would do it like I suggested for structures. That way you don't have to move it just when it starts to get down drop a repair kit on it. No maintence fee for them just repair kits.

First off I am a non-Architect but I agree on they need something to create a reoccuring source of income for you guys and gals. The only trouble with decay on furniture is that its not an essential item and many might simply not want to buy for they don't want to have to repay again and again nor have to replace thier house that they have lived in and on the same spot forever.

Perhaps decay on harvesters and factories though since there is little attachment to these as a player and they are essential or simply how about coming up with ideas to 'add' another way of getting income to flow into your proffesion.

Instead of taking away from a class lets add more to others. This means more options and more power. Instead of taking away from the game lets give.

I disagree with more decay of any kind. "Playing" this game is already beginning to feel like a job. I spend the majority of my "playing" time maintaining the junk that I have or getting together the credits to replace stuff that's past maintaining. Now you all think it's a good idea to make me do even more of this? I already feel like a dang pixelated custodian/harvester babysitter.

4 personalharvesters/extractors, one week's maintenance = 20,160 credits and 16,800 units of power. That doesn't include replacement prices for when the resources shift, or the price to re-deed if you don't replace every week.

2 plain old wind power generators, one week's maintenance = 20,160 credits.

1 small house, one week's maintenance = whatever, for some reason small house maintenance doesn't seem overboard.

1 non-NPC vendor, one week's maintenance = who knows it costsway too much. This depends on the value of the items for sale? Why? We don't have to throw enough credits away yet or something? I'm sure adjusting the NPC vendors is high on the list of priorities so that they're the same as the terminals.

1 factory, one week's maintenance = haven't figured that one out, but it seems to be close to but less than 10k credits + however muchpower.

Throw into this the fact that if you aren't a master weaponsmith you can forget about actuallyselling anything. You all should let me put my house on Vreni Island since that's the place I see for about 99% of my playing time.

I don't have a problem with harvester decay. That sort of makes sense. Afterall, its a piece of machinery hard at work.

I have a MAJOR problem with housing decay. This should never happen. These structures are already a money sink and are central to the creation of player cities and PAs.

Furniture decay? I really don't think you want this. Furniture is un-necesary. If you make it decay, then most people will never buy it.

I think structuredecay is quite possibly a necessary evil in order to keep our profession viable. As for furniture, I don't like the idea of having to replace an entire house full of it, but if decay is not implemented on it, then something else needs to be done to keep a demand for it. What puzzles me is why so many people accept that sinks are necessary for things like credits and resources in order to insure they maintain value, but they fail to see how easily that equation translates into structures.

I also like the concept of using a structure deed to count for a large amount of the maintainence on pre-existing structures. This would mean that you could use a small house deed to pay off about 12k or so of house maintainence (somewhat higher than what the deed should be worth), which would help establish reasonableprices for structures and create more demand.
