Interesting idea and a GREAT write up.
Personally, I'm not sure if I buy it or not. As a roleplayer I understand 100% that it would make sense for some former imperials or rebels to keep their old ships, but I think most if not all of the time, when you see a factional ship, a member of that faction should be flying it. Otherwise it would just be confusing to most folks.
Also, one of the aspects I like about JTL (and SWG in general) is that ... we define ourselves in the decisions we make. Leaving the Empire (or Alliance) is a life defining decision for your character. There needs to be some impact to that decision. Having the opportunity to keep your old ship would be like having your cake and eating it too, imo.
From a RPing perspective, one good way to explain your inability to fly your ship anymore is that ... all ships of the Imperial Navy are sent a pulse signal from central command. Once you retired from the Imperial Navy, standard procedure was that your ship computer was sent a deactivate signal, rendering it no more then a shiny lawn ornament.
Nice excuse...but from an RP point of view, it is just a load of crap. You know full-well that Rebels have been able to get their hands on TIEs on several occasions. It happens all the time. And if a Civilian on the ground can learn to be an Imperial Pilot, why the heck can't an On-Leave Rebel? I mean, if you're On Leave, you're essentially a civilian anyway. Its only when you're a Combatant or Special Forces mode that you "look" like a Rebel. If I can dance with a Stormtrooper NPC without getting spotted as a Rebel, I should be able to at least *try* to become an Imp Pilot.
Maybe they could make it so that, when you Master a pilot profession, you're able to take extra Quest missions that will get you to a filled Tier 1 in the other Pilot Professions. From an RP point of view, that'd mean that "civilians" and Imperials could get their hands on the basic Rebel Fighters that should be on-sale to anyone. It also means that Rebels and "civilians" could by the very basic (and presumably older) TIE Fighter models, which are being retired from service. Maybe they could have slightly a reduced mass capacity, or something like that, because you get them from a fighter reclaimation place.
The fact remains though...my Imperial character *should* be able to get his hands on a Z-95 for messing about in, and my Rebel character *should* be able to fly the TIE Fighter he was originally trained to fly...and my CorSec pilot should be able to fly a Z-95, just like the CorSec Pilots I flew against on the early Black Epsilon missions.

After reading both the Jedi and the BH forums and the constant flaming and whining and also after a few drinkies I came up with this Idea.
First off get rid of the investigation line as such, still keep the droid bonus's etc and maybe add some new combat specials to that line.
Instead of Investigation xp you have " Reputation faction " only accessible to BH's. You still do BH missions but you earn reputation instead of Inv xp.
As you get more Reputation you get the better missions etc.
Also at the terminals there could be like Base missions which get you a low amount of Rep but are going to be reasonable to do and maybe a challenging type that gain you more Rep.
Now if you get killed by your Mark you lose Rep.
my Idea is that if Jedi are supposed to be 1.5 times better than a standard elite Prof to make BH a 1.25 prof with the extra specials in the Inv line, now to balance this and to stop everyman and has dog going BH make it have an extra Requirement like you need Marksman xx44 instead of just xxx4
Just an Idea
Feel free to Flame away
Probably won't remember posting this anyhow

Not a perfect solution, but you're thinking! Drunk even!
Which is more than most people can say, myself included, hehe.

I'm a new jedi and I was thinking about solo grinding, i know not the fastest method, but much safer. Obviously i can't take a lvl 80 with my novice lightsaber and skills...so i was thinking that maybe i would drop all my other skills which would lower my CL to like 1. Then i could actually kill things, i know the experience would be less so the grind would be longer but once again i could do it myself and be safe from the BH boards. Think this is feasible?

A few more points to consider. Not only does a lower CL for your character bring about lower XP, but it also lowers your max Health. Also, you can not use Stim-Ds if your CL is below 60.
If you have Center-of-Being, you can still use it and get the benefit of incoming damage reductionl. The only trick is that you can't have your LS equipped when you try to activate COB. I used COB from TK and would just un-equip the LS, activate the COB, then equip the LS and continue fighting. I can remember the duration of COB right now, but it cuts the damage you take in half. Very nice to have as a young Padawan.

HEY UP: Ows about this then...
A few ideas (new ones too)
A possibility to SAVE the game
Plan:
Introduce more unlocks but not force related
Imp Elite Stormtrooper : Elite Unlockable Prof
Pre req: Master two ranged profs. Master Marksman
50000+ fp
Do Unlock quest for imps ( Ie Loot, Stuff, Things)
Rebel Elite Sand Rat: Elite Unlockable prof
Pre req: Master two ranged profs. Master Marksman
50000+ Fp
Do Unlock Quest for Rebs
MEchanic (for Crafters):
pre req : two Master Crafting profs, Master artisan
Do Mechanic unlock quest
Next:
A new mid level combat system Think clone transports on ep 2
Abilty to get a mechanic to customize rides(eg lights BOOSTERS guns roofs extra engine etc)
new ship in JTL Carrier.. Able to carry 8 ships and deploy dropships from space (AGAIN THINK CLONE TRANSPORT)
New group system
Fleet commander commands 8 group leaders. his system messages are readble by gls, or all teams
tel us what you think
Erroneus Flint - Adventurer
Finite Flint - Shipwright constantly spending horribly large amounts of money

I do not at all mind them releasing more "ultra elite" professions.
Don't see it happening though.
