Well, in all fairness, I warned people that I had a chance to fail when opening containers. That way they understood the risk that they were taking. It only seemed fair.

I meet all the morons.

On Eclipse, I have a few Entertainer skills picked up as my extras, so I can heal my own mind wounds and battle fatigue. It's also great when we're out in the wild in a camp, because so few people have them. Anyhow, I went to play in an awfully deserted Cantina on Talus the other night, only a few people. Someone was already there with a new character (still had on the default entertainer clothes). So I set up and start tooting away on my Fanfar when I am suddenly engaged in the most absurd /tells of my life.

Newb: hey r u entertainer?

Me: Sure am.

Newb: iz dancing broken right now???

Me: I don't know. I don't have dancing, I have music skills. But as far as I know, it's fine.

Newb: this sux ive been dancing for like half an hour and i didnt make any xp

Me: Well, if no one is watching you, you won't make healing XP, you you should make dance XP either way. Are you sure?

Newb: yes im sure! i would know if i made xp! duh!

Me: Okay, sorry, just trying to be helpful.

Newb: uh huh whatever.

The dancer then proceded to stand up and start dancing again. I sat there, stunned in front of my computer screen when I saw what he was doing. I considered explaining to him that you don't make any XP off of the /dance emote. . . but I decided I had better things to do, like go chew on some glass or pee on an electric socket.

Can't we put an IQ test on the front-end of these games? Seriously?

ROFL!!! I needed a good laugh today...man these stories are awesome. I have been lucky, I made it all the way to Master and managed to avoid twits like the ones told about in these stories. Worst thing I deal with is 500 failed trade attempts before it finally goes through.

I had a kind of funny experience with myself being the dumb one the other night. I thought in all fairness I should share...

I'm a Trandoshan. I'm grouped with another Dosh and a Wookie. This newb human comes up to us and asks if he can group with us. We discuss it in group chat and agree.

We invite the guy and he joins. He starts asking typical newb questions. How do I auto-follow? how do I trade? Nothing out of the ordinary.

So we start out for some missions and switch tospatial chat.

We're still going on explaining the basics of gameplay, how our team approaches the missions so everyone gets XP and no one gets killed (especially the newb), that sort of thing...

Five minutes later this guy says "Why don't I understand what any of you are saying?"

We then proceded to teach him Dosh and Shiirywook comprehension.Wehad all completely forgotten you don't just start out speaking all the languages.

Well, all he really needed was Wookie, cuz you (being a trando) should have gone back to basic
/basic I'm in Basic now.

But that is pretty funny.

Never grinded containers, but I did grind dropped weps. Since I let my Guild know I was going for smuggler I told them collect all the dropped weps they find and give them to me when I get on. Safe to say, I was able to muddle through slicing 3 & 4 with them, before they smacked down the item limit on houses. I musta had over 500 weps in various backpacks. Yeah that was fun *sigh*.

Well smugglers we will finally get an overhaul, about time! Thankgod we are finally getting noticed weee!

Pretty funny stuff. I haven't been bothered by random n00bness, I s'pose I've been rather lucky

Funny stuff! Unfortunately no experience I've had can compare to those. But how many people have gotten requests to fix things while you've had th "Fixer" title up?

Heh.. no "Fixer" tells, but I got plenty of "Fence" tells from up-and-coming fencers wanting training! They were all nice, and I explained that they wanted a "Fencer", not a "Fence". I told them that a "Fence" was a maker of spices. Several times the conversasion then went towards Chef foods. lol.

At one point, I was talking to one player for10 minutes asking me how to be better at melee. I thought he wasjust a newb who had lots of questions about unarmed. So I told him what I fought, armor I'd wear, macros, and such. Basic melee things. I even gave him some free NP.

I didn't realize till the end that he thought he was talking to a Master Fencer when he wanted to know what sword I used!

My "pusher" came back on last night. He's been making a great name for himself. Buying spice for 500 cr on my vendor and selling them for 700 cr. He's saving up so he can buy a bunch.

Pusher: "Do you have a pistol I can borrow."

Me: "All I have is an old FWG5 I bought as a newb on my vendor. Selling it cheap for 1000 cred. thinking some aspiring smuggler will find good use for it."

Pusher: "What are the stats for it?"

Me: "I don't remember."

Pusher: "I think I'll buy it. I don't have the skill to use it but I will in the future."

Me: "Great, sounds like a plan."

Pusher: "What shape is it in?"

Me: "Not bad, I only used it to kill grandma's on Sundays."

You know in the cartoon where you have the big bulldog Spike and the little dog Butch?

Well, let's just say my new name is "Spike" in the game right now.

About 5 days ago, some guy comes up to me:

(guy) "Hey, how do I do business in smuggling?"

(me) "Huh? You want to know how to drum up business for smuggling?"

(guy) "No, how do I train business to get smuggling?"

Turns out he bought the strategy guide which has printed in it the old requirements for smuggler. I nicely explained to him that you need Pistol Specialist and Unarmed Master.

Every day, he asks me yet another question about his advancement, and last night I get this:

(guy) "So, do I need to get Pistoleer Novice before I can be a smuggler?"

(me) "No, you need PIstol Specialist and Unarmed Master."

(guy) "Oh. So do I get to be a Teras Kasi Artist when I become Smuggler?"

(me) "If that's what you want to do."

(guy) "I want to master three professions."

Some people just never get it. I think the next time he asks me a question about levelling, I'm going to tell him to read his strategy guide. <grin>

Evarn Terallis - Master Smuggler on Kettemoor

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04
