ok i have a story for you all. it's not directly Smuggler related, but it is about some newb idiot bothering me (a Smuggler).

i just made a new toon on a new server (Starsider because i needs the RP). so i've been grinding him up this past week.
i'm grinding outside of Mos Eisley this past weekend. minding my own business, when a V-35 pulls up with a driver and one passenger. being that it's Starsider and in Mos Eisley i prepare for some Roleplaying. what i got was an awful experience...

so this V-35 pulls up and two guys get out. and i wave to them and say hi.
without a word the driver challenges me to a duel! (i'm level 5 at this point haha) so naturally i Roleplay it.
i say what's the problem pal?
his friend says "DULE HIM!!1!" so i know i'm not dealing with the kind of people i came to Starsider for, but i'm very laid back so i have a high tolerance for this type of behavior...
anyway the guy who challenged me to a duel says "I'll pay you 100000 if you duel me!"
i ask why should i? and they say something about him cancelling his account so he just wants to have fun before he does or some BS...

being a newb to Starsider, i have nothing to lose but grinding time, which i figured i could use a break from anyway. and an easy 100k didn't sound bad either (although i should've known better )

so i accept the duel. and we start fighting. he's a level 14 or 15 and his friend is level 8 i think...
the duel isn't going anywhere fast but eventually i'm incapped. he didn't DB me so i thought once i got up i'd get my 100k, but instead i get told to keep attacking him. so i did.

then his friend challenges me and says "ILL GIVE U 6k!!1!1!! DULE MEE!11!11!"
so i figure, i'm in this deep, why not let the kiddies have a little fun?

so i accept, and get incapped and DB'd. no big deal. i clone in Eisley, and ride back out to the spot where i left them in my Flash Speeder.

i see the first guy i was dueling and demand payment. he says he'll pay me if i let him "hook up my car"... i know where this is goin so i play along just to make sure.

sure enough he starts telling me he needs Artisan XP, and he needs to "hook up my car" to get it. he tells me he can add more seats, weapons, and make it go faster. haha. all i have to do is trade my "car" to him.

i'm sitting in my FLASH SPEEDER mind you. a NON-tradable JTL pre-order reward.

obviously this guy is attempting to scam newbs (he must've thought i was new to the game) but was mostly a newb himself.

anyway i want my damn 100k, which by this point i realize he does not have because he's telling me he needs to get it from the bank, but then wants me to jump in his V-35. when i tell him no thanks i'll follow in my own vehicle. he starts off in the opposite direction of the bank and tells me he needs to get the money from a friend who's 400m in that direction and that i should follow him...

anyway i'm growing tired of his crap so i want to wrap things up and be on my merry way, but he and his friend begin to follow me demanding that i trade my speeder so he can get his Artisan XP by hooking up my ride.

then the foul mouthing begins. his friend starts making rather rude and vulgar comments, and then resorts to calling me names which have to do with race and sexual orientation. you can use you imagination. then the first guy joins in with his friend.

i see this is going nowhere and i'm far past tired of the two of them so i tell them to stop following me and that i'll be reporting the both of them. which i do.

i did the quick /report (name) at first. but they continued so i wrote a harrassment ticket detailing the experience.
unfortunately i got a error message from the ticket saying that no chat log was recorded in the last 10 min for the main player name in question.

i took screenies of the full dialogue just to be sure.

anyway. i'm a very laid back guy. usually foul language doesn't bother me. but these two knuckleheads somehow managed to push my buttons.

i think the main problem was that they were trying to scam me out of my vehicle. i can only imagine if it was some actual newb they were trying it on with a swoop or AB-1 or god forbid their BARC! i was quite sure that some poor newb would fall victim to these jerks, if they hadn't already. so i felt justified in reporting the two of them.

i hope their accounts and all accounts associated with their names and credit card numbers (probably their parents' anyway) are permabanned from this and any other SOE game.

anyway... just thought i'd share that little adventure with you all haha

I found a (former) guildmate of mine on Corbantis trying to scan a n00b out of his vehicle.

I proceeded to spam the area with tells, saying that he was getting ripped off.

I am no longer a member of said guild. For more reasons than just that.

Hehe, funny thing is, that sounds as though he actually thought you were gonna report him for something.

Imp Officer: Will you slice my weapon or not? (Gets up and starts to leave)

Me (via /tell): Get back here and hand me the damn weapon! I will do it (He comes back and trades me the weapon and I slice it, /tells him the results and trades it back in exchange for 5k credits)

Imp Officer: Thnx M8

Me: Haha! You just completed an illegal trade, man. If I turn you in now, your bosses in the Empire will surely have your fancy rank, maybe even discharge you.

Imp Officer: Umm... What?

Me: I might choose not to tell them though. /grin

Imp Officer: Don't report me! I will pay you 20k!

Me: That ought to seal my lips...

He didn't pay me 20k right there though, and I didnt really expect him to either. He left the cantina and I thought I had just had a good time with some decent RP for once.

A few days later, when I log in, I notice I have new mail. One is a notice about a bank transfer of 50k from the Imp Officer, the second is a mail explaining he didn't have 20k a few days earlier, but that he had worked hard the last few days doing missions to be able to pay me with interest. He also thanked me for not reporting him yet.

1 Just finished f/p trade, totally forgot I was Special Forces, wandering through Theed I hear someone shout my name, turn and ask how I can help - 2 dark Jedi and a trooper attack and db me before I even realise whats going on. Sent a tell to the one who bd (a jedi) and give him a laugh at the fact I thought he wanted a slice or something. We meet at sp and he heals me. Hey I am a smuggler - no allegiance except credits

2 Have a customer ask if they can get a bunch of slices, I say sure but out in wilds on Talos setting up a new house / town, no shuttle yet. Customer moans all the way to my place, turns up, offers me 4 weps. I get a range of slices and ask for my 40k and customer goes ape. Yelling about fact they had such a long drive, crappy slices, too expensive etc etc.

I explain that my policy is - I ask once, you don't pay I destroy the weps. They offer to duel me for the weps, sheis lvl 54 I am 80 - I asked if she was sure, but was told "yeah gonna beat you into dust". I offer duel and then she realises I have all of her weps. Being a sporting chap I give her one wep back and we duel.

Lasts maybe 3 secs and she is on the dirt, no db cos I was being charitable. After she heals more abuse ensues and now I amjust annoyed. She pulls out her speeder, and offers me another duel - no idea why she pulled speeder, maybe hoping to run if things got bad.

I accept, incap, db, then get an evil idea, target her ride and disable it too. Then I destroyed the three remaining weps of hers I still had.

Send her a mail to explain what has just happened and slam her onto /addignore

I'm only lvl 54 and I've been wily enough that people who have challenged me to duels before - just dont anymore.

I have only been once in a pvp setting - when I got ganked by 5 jedi -trying to sell some faction. I managed to root 4 - but the 5th the root missed and down i went. Then I got they typical disrespectful tell and DB
