Thread: My question to Logix, RE: Crafting nerf

Logix, being a test center combat regular, I've always kept a very close eye on weapons, quality, price, and availability.

Your post in the forums is terribly misleading. If YOU have any questions (and I cannot see why you should, you get your stuff from a terminal) then please contact Touyuan (Omou) or STGabriel (Flynn) who are actually crafting ON TEST.

Flynn just made the best curved he has in his 6 months on Test Center. Omou's weapons are a consistant 10% better than what they used to be. There is NO justification for the "OMG, We're soo screwed!" mentality.

You have to pay WAY more attention to ALL of the qualities of the resources used, and you have to be a master to get EVEN close to high quality, but (excluding doctor and armorsmith) the products on test are easily just as good, and in most cases, better than what came out before. Understand the caveats here. Most of the people crafting have been in their fields less than 1 month, and they have a limited resource base, but they're using the best stuff that test has had recently available, which will NOT compare with the stuff that some of the WS's have accumulated over the past 8 months.

Logix, come to test, and if you need the resources, talk to Omou, and if you wish to see the results of the Crafting "nerf", then come over, and help us test it.

IGNPC: We often hear the loudest cries from a relative minority. Still, it seems odd that all the comments sent our way have been negative.

Haden Blackman: Yeah, all the guys who are happy with everything are playing the game. They aren't spending their time sending you guys letters or posting on the forums.

How are the T21s, Republic Blasters, advanced ranged weapon components, et cetera, comparing to how they were pre-patch? And how about expert weaponsmiths - is their stuff even worse than it already is?

Republic blasters are amazing, Omou has made some that are the best I've ever seen on Test. T21's are not quite a determinant factor because we've ALWAYS had crap polonium on Test, so they've never approximated what I've seen on live for them.

Advanced components, well, I can tell from the Flamethrowers that we are a good 80 points max damage, 40 points min damage higher than we've EVER had on test center, and I have flamers that trace all the way back to Jeave, and that was in September.

Let me also add that Armorsmithing is now broken because of something haywire in the layer experimentation, it's not specifically because of the new patch. The doctor, I withhold judgement because Took (Leafthemedic) has had a significant drop in schematic quality, and Porag (one of the other Doc's) has been focused on blankets, and testing new dungeon material.

For some of the concerns, I REALLY think we're looking at the fact that some components just look at entirely too many resource qualities to be realistic. I know that some of the bigger armor combines look at all but one of the resource qualities, and I think THAT might be a viable, gating option. So, maybe if we were to start a petition, it might be that no final combine look at more than 3 of the resource attributes. The other side of the coin is the HUGE diference between master, and novice crafted items, even if that is as it should be, again, you've completely eliminated any market the novice crafters might have been able to use. But to blanket fail the new crafting system isnt' warranted, just because we have plenty of evidence to the contrary, that shows that this is an actual benefit to the crafting community.

What were the stats of the best FT before and now on Test?

I know on live mine are 4.6speed 840max damage currently, and over 1000 condition after experimentation.

the best FT's are 4.8, 815, I can't remember the durability, they are on Touyuan's vendor in Dragons Call, but that's because of some poor resources that just haven't spawned on Test yet.

And he refuses to test using only 10 experimentation points (Touyuan) that is... he has 12. He touted how great the new system was without fully testing how it would impact others, who on Live cannot, or will not pay 20 milllion for a + 5 experimentation tape. Unless someone tests extensively with only 10 points, and conclusively says this is not a huge step backwards, I have to go with the overwhelming majority' s opinion that this is a bad thing.

Except for the fact that anything that requires expirimentation in more than 1 line takes a serious serious serious hit from this. While it may not utterly screw Weaponsmiths, It does utterly screw chefs, doctors, armorsmiths, bio-engineers, combat medics (though screwing them may be a good thing =p).

Also, this particularly screws those of us who can't play 2 hours a day to get all the uber resources. Before we just had a little worse products and could make it up by offering a lower price. Now, if I missed the uber resource last shift...I can expect to get totally useless results. This sounds more like another Casual Player Nerf to me. Won't be the first or last, the game is based on the 15 year olds who stay home from school to play. Sigh.

Not to mention that the casual player is going to have a hard time affording the expirimentation tapes that are now going to be required.

Yes, it is something specific in the new patch. Layers have always been a mutli-line experimentation item. The changes on TC are great for single line experimentation, but crippling for multi-line.

Say goodbye to your 80% kinetic layered armor, at least the kind with managable HAM costs. If things stay as they are on TC I'm moving to electrical layers where I don't have to experiment in resistance. You want 80% on kinetic? Better hope you get a good effectiveness slice.

Go back to TC and submit more bugs! I'm sure you've missed a couple.

As for your opinion of Logix, being misleading, Ishare that view, entirely.

You bet your bottom dollar any fixis going to be for the worse. It always is. If it wasn't why would they hide the population decline numbers from us.

Yep, after working with Leaf, and Morik, and all of the information we've generated, this is the exact truth.

Schematics that require multi-line experimentation have taken a huge hit. People crafting single line items have produced some of the best items ever, but all multi-line experimentation has been demolished. I agree, WS's won't suffer as fierce an impact as Doc's, CM's, BE's, chefs, and of everybody, Armorsmiths. Armorsmiths will take the biggest hit of anyone with this patch, and that's unfortunate.

Why don't you post ALL the stats of one of those "forty points better"flamethrowers, like the (undoubtedly horrible) accuracy, HAM, and condition?
