Thread: Introduction and Thoughts

Greetings all!

Some of you know me, some of you don't... so allow me to introduce myself. My name is Felton Kel, and I'm the new Weaponsmith Correspondent. My Station.com handle is SeaRaptor. I've been an active weaponsmith on the Tempest server since it went live on 1 August 2003. It took me about a month to master the profession back in those days, going the cost-effective route by grinding on projectile rifle barrels because cheap steel was easy to find on a fledgling server. I was a master for six straight months before I took about 5 weeks off in February and March of 2004 to do some hologrinding and try other professions. I returned to full-time weaponsmithing in mid-April 2004 and opened up my website. So that's kind of how I got here; I've been doing this a looooong time, and like anything else, if you practice long enough you eventually get good at it.

Following in Logix's footsteps, it's my job to present our issues to the developers and do my best to see that they get addressed. Logix submitted a Top 5 just before announcing his retirement, so I don't envision having to repeat the task in the immediate future. To be perfectly honest, I anticipate that several of the things on that list will be addresed during the forthcoming Combat Upgrade (Berserker barrels, stock experimentation, useless components, Beam Rifle certification, etc.). I don't KNOW that they will, I simply THINK they will because they're wrapped up in that all-encompassing thing we call "combat".

I don't know if I'm going to be allowed to bring in another tester to assist in the Combat Upgrade closed alpha. When I learn more, I will let you guys know.

I have some things I'm hoping to see addressed in the Combat Upgrade myself. Many of you have probably heard me comment on the current state of munition crafting; this is one thing I'm hoping to have addressed. I'm also hoping to get our schematic placement re-examined so that we earn weapon schematics more logically as the various combat professions advance. These are goals, however, not gospel. So take them for what they're worth.

Let's see...what else? I'm a very active poster on a variety of forums. The Tempest galaxy forum is my unofficial home here, but you'll also find me posting in the Weaponsmith and Merchant forums pretty frequently with the occasional smattering of posts in other places. Yes, I do have a Jedi. I hardly play him, though. The Jedi grind is mind-numbingly boring. =) You'll also find I can be rather long-winded.

On a final note, expect to see some of our perma-sticky threads getting re-arranged or re-organized in the coming weeks. I haven't decided precisely what I want to do yet, but I think there's probably a better way to handle them.

Feel free to ask any questions you have and I'll do my best to answer them. As a rule, I don't answer every single inquiry made on the Weaponsmith forums; you guys do a pretty good job of that already. However, if you have something you'd like to ask me specifically, my mailbox is always open.

I look forward to working with you guys through the Combat Upgrade and beyond!

Congrats and your welcome. Anyways nice to see this post up, and I wish that I was as organized as you are. I currently only force myself into using Fooman's Crafting tool to organize my 40 million resources that I have in stockpile and to see what I need to harvest, but that organization of puttinga stocklist on the web and news and updates and stuff like that, now that is devotion. In regards to my earlier comments on whether I have seen you before or read your posts, well I made a comment of not really knowing who you were, but now after looking at that website I know that website. I looked at that website months ago(I think), memories can be deceptive.

Also a note on your website... Do you not stock geo weapons or actually newly introduced weapons, or have you not gotten around to updating your stock list?

I'm not at all a crafter or weaponsmith, and I can't say I know anyone from any other servers, but I can't imagine a better pick than you Fel, congrats!

Woot Guildie! Nice job!!

First the Nazis came for the Communists, I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. After that they came for the Trade Unionists, I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. And then they came for me, but there was no one left to speak.
