Thread: Slicing 4 or Master Smuggler?

i know that slicing 4 can only get to 30% slices, and master can get 35%, but i want to know if it is really worth getting master smuggler, instead of something like master merchant, with slicing 4?

Master Smuggler makes a huge difference.. but Master Merchant and slicing IV is probably a better way to go

The master smuggler thing getting better slices is broken from what I know, slicing 4 can get higher than 30% I know because I've had many of them, they are just infrequent. I'm sure it's all gonna change with the Smuggler revamp which is to be soon from the amount of new people at SOE. ALso in slicing, the quality of the WUK's and Molecular clamps and Laser knives means nothing, don't wast good metals on these. Guildy made that mistake, man that was a waste of 997 Cond copper. i used to pay for a master to slice, way easier if you can just do it yourself. Also much much cheaper.

for some reason it mght be wrong but i remember getting a few 40% slices

Get Master Merchant and Pay a MasterSmuggler to slice, Miles easier and you dont spend 3 hours sitting at your PC slicing hundreds of weapons.....some 1 else does it for you CHERISH YOUR SMUGGLER

i just talked to a friend who is a good WS in my guild, and has slicing 4 and he said that Slicing 4 and master merchant is the way to go, since u can still get higher then 30% with slicing 4, so thats what i am gonna do, since i dont have any smuggler friends or guildies

Back when I was a smuggler, I hit 35% speed on a weapon. I only had slicing 4. So, master smuggler just adds to the frequency of higher slices, it doesn't raise the limit at all.

Master smuggler is definitely worth it. I don't actually have any, one of my guildies does it for me, but its a noticable difference in slicing regularity. When he had just Slicing 4, he could get a 35% slice maybe once every hundred or so, with the majority being in the 20-30% range, now he's likely to get at least one 35% slice per crate, sometimes more and the majority of slices land in the 25-35% range (Except for dxr-6bs. He just has really bad luck with those. Go figure

When I was playing on the Naritus server (about a year ago) a couple of us Smuglers got together for the one purpose of testing this. We didso until we had ruled out all possible statistical anomolies. The result: Didn't matter at all. Slicing IV and Master yielded the same results.

Master Smuggler/Master Weaponsmith here...
Slicer (Slicing 4) 10-30% on weapons, 5-30% armor effectiveness, 15-40% encumbrance.
Master Smuggler 15-35% on weapons, 11-35% armor effectiveness, 10-45% encumbrance
With slicing being random, I'd have to say that you're better off getting Slicer and Master Merchant, and saving your high end items for a Master Smuggler to slice. Of course contracting a Smuggler would be the best bang for your buck since as stated above you don't have to sit at the keyboard slicing everything.

I'm going to go ahead and call both of the people out. I believe you both to be liars who say that you've gotten +30% slices on weapons.
I've been a smuggler for 18 months now, and for6 months I was only at slicing IV, and I know for a fact I never got any slices on weapons above 30%. Armor is a different story.
