I've been a smuggler for 18 months now, and for6 months I was only at slicing IV, and I know for a fact I never got any slices on weapons above 30%. Armor is a different story.

Just because you didn't get a +30% slice, doesn't mean it's not possible.

I'm not a Jedi, after a year and a half. Doesn't mean they don't exist.

That is correct and actually GreenMarine back in the day mentioned this too. 30% is the highest a non master can reach. Anything other than that and your full of Sh!t.

i dont want to argue or whatever, but i have personally seen it done, getting higher then 30% on slices with just slicing 4, probably much less fequent then what u get with Master, but can still be done

I love the arguments above hehe...

I only get my weapons sliced by master smugglers, I cant be doing with crap slices - they make more difference to the price than an extra point of experimentation. Contract smugglers are hard to come by, however, and they dont normally stay master smuggler for long (as the prof is crap generally).

I am interested in people wanting master merchant - i dont really see the point, unless you want lots of vendors for each type of weapon - i have kept master pistoleer - which, as i have no alt, means i can do combat stuff as well and makes the gameplay more interesting.

Any views on why people want master merchant other than the above I would be interest to hear....

the reason i want master merchant is for 2 reasons(i have decided i am getting it yet either)
1, for reduced maintence and vendor fees
2, i am gonna let my close friends/guildies use vendors of mine to sell there stuff hopefully

thats my reasons *shrugs*

With the powerup slicing trick gone you're not getting above 30% at Slicing 4. As for 36% slices, I've never seen a system message say 36% on a weapon, but with the hidden numbers in the game maybe a gun has 200.5 damage and the .5 goes in to a calculation.. so you'd need to do the math after the slice and compare the original damage.

So you're admitting to using/seeing the old (and now fixed) double slice exploit? Cause that's the only way you did it.

Master Smith/Master Smuggler myself, if you are gonna slice anything you sell, then go master smuggler. Otherwise just play wahtever you want, cause slicing 4 is 5% less than a master, period.

I share a shop with a Master Armorsmith/Master Smuggler. I've never seen an armor encumbrance slice below 25%. Otherwise the quote below seems accurate.

He'snever happened to get a 35% effectiveness slice on armor but 33% is pretty common and 11% is the low end. Also, I don't remember a 45% encumbrance slice on armor but slices in the low 40s are common.

Weapon slices seem to be evenly distributed between 15% and 35% with just as many slices in the thirties as in the teens. The only trend I see in weapons is that speed slices seem to be more common than damage. I count the speed and damage slices every time and only remember once having damage slices outnumber speed slices. Today it was 8 speed, 1 damage. Yesterday it was 14 speed, 10 damage. Two days ago 16 speed, 9 damage. My guess is about 60% of weapon slices are speed. I'll start writing down the daily totals so I can show the numbers a little better.

>Master Smuggler 15-35% on weapons, 11-35% armor effectiveness, 10-45% encumbrance

How master smuggler works. Master smuggler has a double fold advantage. Number one a master smuggler can reach 35 percent on a weapon sure its a one and a hundred slice. But if you hit that a top end weapons value can go up five times. That means a three k scatter can go for as much as fifteen k. Never underestimate how much people will pay for perfection.

Number two is batting average a master smuggler will get a higher level of quality per slice. A slicer four may average a 22 percent while a master smuggler will average a 26 percent. Not much but you notice it when you realize you are produceing less junk guns. I am not sure about the rest of you but when i get a fifteen percent slice that guns going on the bizarre, because its garbage.

The facts of the matter are this ask your customers do they prefer master slice of sliceing four. All the smart ones will say master. My suggestion is simple either master smuggler or master merchant anything else is a waste of points. If you do master smuggler you have some serious bonuses you can slice your own weapons that cuts out one middle man and your weapons will sell better. You have a secondary skill you can sell on the spot. Afterall you never find a person running around a city fiending for a master merchant.

Though you can make the easier choice and master smuggler and dump domestic and surveying and go up into merchant. Both those branches of artisan are not worth terribly much. You can easily get by without them, and you can easily find a master artisan to run you up some schematics for items. Its so much easier to pay a master artisan 5k to run you out some schematics, then for you to pay 2k for a smuggler to slice a weapon. A weapon that might not sell and it fact cost you a loss. financitally better move.

You want another good reason master smuggler is the good move. You are getting another full crafting profession. Plus since you are already into crafting. That means additional services. Slice spice and faction point sales. You also get some combat skills. Even with just a master smuggler I was able to handle some of the lower end dungeons. With the FD you have plenty of second chances.

Anyone telling you that sliceing four is equaling out to master smuggler is takeing you for a ride it aint true. The master smuggler is more proficent and can get higher slices.

Armour 40s% on enc and 30s% on base ,cap of 90% on base otherwise all those sets of armour would have been 91%
Weapons 35% but rarish but getting close to 30% is very frequent as master
Did a session slicing 50ish weapons as master but gave up,got too boring and doing 20 sets of armour half asleep for only 250k was too cheap, felt used
