Thread: Galaxy-wide vendor search: Retarded
We'll see what happens.

With the huge volume of items on the bazaar people will prolly end up going to the normal shops rather than trawling through 000s of items. I name everything like you, random names though I don't use Mono-Molecular etc, something like Desparate Inference

- Each vendor owner can decide whether to allow his or her vendors to be searchable in the market. There is an option for vendor owners to turn on/off the search option on his or her vendor. The vendor owner will be able to find current search option settings for each of his or her vendor(s)
- When a vendor owner turns on the search option, a player should be able to go to any bazaarand list all items owned by this vendor
- When a vendor owner turns off the search option, the vendor is no longer listed in the galaxy-wide network search. With this search option turned off, vendor owners have the ability to conduct private auctions. Players will need to physically go to the vendor and click "Use Vendor" to list items from this vendor.
If they would have implemented this the way it is worded that would be really nice. I guess they just don't see it that way though and chose their wording very poorly. If they would have done it this way instead of the way it is comeing out it would save a lot of hassel and time going from planet to planet, city to city, vendor to vendor just to find them empty. Now you can just stand in one spot and spend the same amount of time looking through zillions of items, page after page.

The new search options are going to be interesting in how they pan out on live...you may very well see more reputation and people going to your uniquely named weapons first.Message Edited by StarNick on 03-24-2005 09:02 AM
Could you explain what "maded" is?
Oh grats on becoming correspondent. I used to be a commando and accidentally clicked on my bookmark to the commando forums and freaked out when Garvin's name was dark blue
My prediction is that many people won't use the system since it's just too damn hard to find a specific item of high quality. At least if you go to someone who you know to be a good ws's shop you know you'll get top notch stuff however the stuff on the bazaar is likely to be junk.

Nick does good work. =) With luck, he and I will be able to bring some sanity to the munitions crafting line.
I'm not a big fan of the global vendor search function, but the Merchant community has pretty well been ignored on this one. Dunno what else to say.
