Unfortunately, this is more obvious to the Merchant community than to the developers. =(

I currently have the oldest registered weapon vendor on Corellia, and one of the oldest if not oldest on Chilastra server. I noticed on my char, as well as my alt while browsing even for "planetary" and "galaxy-wide" that a good portion of my weapons are always listed on the first page. Has anyone else noticed this trend?

This may hurt my Specialized weapons vendor. I have a Vendor of hand made weapons with all the Scopes and Stocks added. The mall has all the guns on display beside the vendor so you can see what they will look like. The galaxay-wide search won't show that. Hopefully those who come to buy other items will see the display.

Customers not only have to sort through thousands of crafted weapons, but also thousands of crappy looted weapons that everyone tries to sell (D-18s, DL-44s, CDEFs, etc.). I noticed that the 2-hand weapon and the Special Heavy Weapon section were only a couple of pages long (for Corellia, anyways), so my stuff stood out very well there. But for the Rifles/Pistols/Carbines, myweapons werea drop in the ocean...I didn't even bother trying tolook for themwhen I saw how many crappy lootedweapons were on the vendor search.
I was able to find 5 Gurk King Hides for 10K each from a vendor I never would have known about without the vendor search. But unless you're looking for something very specific, the vendor search will be a big hassle to use. Imo, most players will probably just keep going to their regular WS (or other crafters), who they know will be in stock, even if they have to pay a little more.
It will be weeks before we see the full impact, but based on my initial impression I think this won't be as bad as we all thought. Not perfect...but not the end of the world, either.

The good thing is they still have to come to your shop and will most likely look at the other vendors while there.
I like it so far for resource shopping to find that "Certain" resource I need or good loots.

It was so much beter before, I could go to 20 vendors on 3 planets and not find what iam looking for. As a combat/crafter player i much rather head to a vendor that i know will have the item iam looking for.

Woot - Finished my MWS Grind on my Valcyn alt!
And I must admit, I have the bazaar vendor search to thank. I must have combed a few hundred shops for 3-4 hours trying to find Thoranium steel for Heavy Warhead Mechanisms. I gave up, as I couldn't find it on the bazaar vendor listing either...until I did a refined search (where I didn't do the entire galaxy, just planet by planet)...lo and behold, found just enough to finish off MWS =)
Aside from the massive list of pages -plus- the fact that a lot of the listings get repeated due to a bug with the Bazaar...I sorta like the vendor system, BUT better search options are really needed...

As a Chef/Rifleman cruising the WS forums for info on krayt tissues, I agree on the usefulness of the new vendor search for resource buying. I bought a whole ton of godly resources for extra cheap for my own chef use, and our resident Armorsmith was OMGing at some of the stuff he was finding too. As far as a Chef that sells food in crates, I'm not holding out much hope on selling extra food unless the vendor search gets revamped a little.

I dont agree, i think vendor search is great. I spent weeks trying to find resources and loot items i needed. Each vendor that was advertized on forums or under Ctrl+v search werent always stocked and barely had what i needed.
Day the vendor search came out i found almost everything i needed and wanted. Also got to look at prices and found the cheapest things i needed.
As for weapons, i am not a well known WS on my server. 90% of the time when people refer WS's my name wasnt named. No big deal i can respect those that have been around a year plus making weapons. But once vendor search came out my sales jumped through the roof. My weapons are good, and match or beat any ws on my server ( some are a little lower- lacking a good platinite copper ). Now with the vendor search people can judge for themselves and not have people refer them to half stocked vendors just because someone bought a uber weapon from them 6 months ago.
I like the vendor search, it helps many people out and makes shopping so much easier. You also can advertize your goods and not have to bump a post on your local trade forum every day.
Example i needed corellian deciduous wood and a good quadranium steel. I went to every known resource vendor on my server- nothing. I have looked for 2 weeks for this.Hours upon hours wasted. Day vendor search came out i found what i needed within 30 minutes. And you think this is a retarded feature?
Any day i need something and can just go find it and get it within a few minutes to half a hour is a good day. Get price, and waypoint right to that vendor. And a waypoint to a vendor you know that has what you are looking for is priceless!

And i would figure your custom and named weapons would stick out more on the vendor search than say a weapons with stats next to it. I saw tons of custom items on vendor search- you are having trouble selling your custom items?
