Thread: Difficulty in getting weapons repaired
Hello to all the Weaponsmiths. I wanted to comment on the difficulty in finding people to do repairs. I constantly see folks running around (myself included)trying to get their weapons repaired. I understand that most Weaponsmiths would rather sell a new weapon than just repair old weapons. I also understand the time and effort that goes into this, but give me a break. I do not like being a pest so I dont beg for repairs directly to weaponsmiths when I dont get any one willing to volunteer, maybe thats my problem. I dont see why WS's dont charge for this service. Either a flat rate, or adjusted to the quality of the weapon. Personally, I would pay a significant percentage of the orginal purchase price just to not have to go through the hassle of finding another weapon with similar specs. It also seems like a good way to build up customer loyalty.
Anyway, maybe I am just seeing a problem that does not exist, but it would sure be nice to not have to spendhours trying to find a repair.
Thank you, any comments from Weaponsmiths would be appreciated.
Well, we don't get any xp from repairs, odds are we're not repairing a weapon we made, we rather would sell a new weapon, and if we break someone's weapon they get really sad.
That's about it, mainly. ![]()
People get pissed when I break their expensive gun, and it seems like most would rather keep using it until the condition is so low the stats start dropping instead of having it repaired at 50% condition and having a significant chance of it being destroyed.
You can repair your weapon yourself. You can probably buy a repair kit on the bazaar (this is an artisan made item).
After the last patch we got some unknown bonus to repairs. But it is an open question how large this bonus is and if it even works.
Functional rating on the repair kit is SUPPOSED to affect success of repair. But there is no proof that this is the case (but better safe than sorry).
BU anyway, maybe we should start selling our repair services. Not much diffferent than slicers selling a slice (hwoever the affect of a failure is worse when repairing)
When people ask me I always repair for free. If you want to tip that's your choice.
One of the patches did claim that Weaponsmith were suppose to receive XP for repairing... what kind of experience and what use it is to a Master Weaponsmith is beyond me.
Also.. after turning Master Weaponsmith I have not destroyed a weapon... yet. The only weapon I destroyed was before I turned Master andwas a weapon that a Master Weaponsmith could craft... I don't know if thatwas a deciding factor about repairing it, but it sounds reasonable (if I can't craft it why should I be able to repair it). This was all after the patch about weaponsmiths gaining XP for repairing.
I have tried to repair 3 weapons - all owned by me - since the patch that supposedly enhanced out ability to repair weapons andtwo were failures that left the gun at 0 condition and the other reduced the condition to something like 583/583. One of the complete failures was on a nice krayt enhanced FWG that was at 50%and I was using repair kits made with the best resources and with great experimentation results.
Now I tell peeps who ask that I don't think the risks are worth it and that they would be better off just using the gun until it fails as I think that there is a very high likelihood that their gun will go to 0/0 after a repair.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I hope that people will begin to pay for your service and the suggestion that the outcome of the repair is displayed so the customer can see the outcome would be great.
For now Itry to repair my own weapon. I have already bought a second T21 so if my first one is destroyed it won't be a hugeloss. It will harldy be scientific but I will post what happends when a non-weaponsmith tries to repair his 48% T21
Thanks
if i made it, sure ill repair it, some fee im sure, maybe 2k like the smugglers charge for about as much work. If its not my gun my first question is, why wont the guy who made it for you repair it? If he refuses to repair his own stuff im not sure I want to. Perhaps if they were willing to pay the 2k and tell me theyre using me as thier smith from here on out. lol.
