Thread: Difficulty in getting weapons repaired

Hello again, just to follow up on my previous post about repairing my own weapon. I bought a repair tool on the bazaar with about a 20 rating (not sure how good this is) and when I tried to repair my weapon it failed. Left my weapon unusable.
20 is godawful, whoever made that either didn't experiment or used really crappy metal. Max is 100, with 99 rated kits I get "minor blemishes" repairs more often than not.
I always try and carry a kit on me and do repairs whenever I can, the biggest problem for me is time...
it takes a good 5-10 minutes to repair a weapon by the time you explain to the customer about failures and reduced max condtion - the sheer volume of people wanting repairs is daunting, I HAVE to turn people down all the time just to go about my business, otherwise its walk 100m repair, walk 100m repair..this would be great if people would tip, but they rarely do, and if you demand payment in advance people get pissy and who wants to deal with that.
The other big issue is failures, i have had a few, and in one case the guy hounded me for days to replace his scatter that i blew up..of course he wanted it for free, and wouldnt leave me alone about it.
After reading this post I think ill try heading into a town with a pile of kits and just doing repairs for money and see how that goes, I think its a service we WS's should provide - maybe if I set out to do repairs when i have nothing else going on it will be a rewarding experience.
ill make a macro to explain everything so I dont have to get carpal tunnel explaining over and over heheh

so that I have plenty on me. If someone asks, and I have the time (I normally do)
I will attempt the repair. I have never asked for payment, but people typically
tip me 1-4k.
I have a desclaimer aliased that is something like this:
"When I attempt to repair your weapon, several things can happen, including
the complete destruction of your weapon. If you understand this and agree
to have me do the work, say Yes Ysal"
They say yes, and I do it.
I've failed twice so far out of about 12 repairs. The nice thing is that now
when a weapon 'falls appart' it really just ends up at condition 1/1 which
means you can at least give it back to them and they see that you didn't
try to steal they weapon.
It takes me much longer to explaing that Exper Weaponsmith is not the same as Master :-).
I haven't turned down any repair requests. I see it as advertising and hope they will remmeber me the next time they need a weapon. Actually got several tells if I can do this or that weapon. If I have no time to do repair I switch my tag to Novice Carbineer (and get tells for training instead :.)).
Have been thinking of going out and selling repairs. Another idea is to announce that I will offer free repairs in my shop to get people there.
I had repaired like 20+ weapons with rated 97 repairing kit and stand in front of crafting station, didn't fail once after patch so far.
I repair my weapons for free and charge 300credits to repair other peoples weapons..I also give them a disclaimer that I have a chance to break it,and/or reduce condition. Most people understand this and say "You have a better chance of not breaking it"..If I break it I dont charge.
6 out of 10 times the person will ask where your shop is and buy a weapon.
