Thread: Master Weaponsmith, so much I cannot make
Well, after finally Making Master WS, (I am a guild smith) I was finally to answer YES to all the requests from my guild mates to of all the questions of "Can you make this?" (well at least for an hour before the realization hit me)
I know many of you have probably been through this before, I am not whining just bored, telling my story and looking for insight or advice about getting my trade started.
So many of the high end weapons are dependant on some resource that either has not popped on the server for a while, or was very low quality when it did pop, or I just totally missed it in my grinding and now it sells for 25 cpu.
So, I am really not much better off then I was before I hit master. I have a ton of high quality steel and now I have 20 harvs on some high quality alum, but so many weaponsmiths are so rich, if a good resource does pop up on the market they buy it all up. There is really nothing to shop for. I hit all the resource shops and have paid close attention to the spawns over the last 2 months.
People in my guild are already getting frustrated and I have already heard comments about how I suck as a WS. This really hurts since I spend so much money and so much time trying to get the right materials to provide those same people with free weapons.
I so wish I had not taken the time to hand grind and I would have used some third party macroing software like friends were trying to get me to do. I just love SWG and did not want to take the chance of getting banned. I did not use the factory dupe exploit for the same reason and now I am paying the price.
Ok so that was complaining… hehe.
I really love weaponsmithing and crafting. And I know I am cut out to be WS because I went through hell to get there.
My guild is sort of an elite guild who normally will pay 250k for a weapon. (although I don't plan to charge) But I cannot do much for ANYONE because it is impossible to get so many resources that we need. I think I am just gonna do what I have been doing and watch the resources very closely, MINE THE HELL out of anything good that pops, and hopefully one day in a few months I will actually be able to make something somebody wants. Several people are already getting angry about me not being able to just POP out their weapons. They are beginning to think that I am not trying or I don't want to help them out.
Sorry, just wanted to say something about my situation. Any advice about any aspects or strategies for dealing with my predicament will be greatly appreciated. I realize this is the path I chose, and that it is hard. If given the choice I would do it again, although somewhat differently. Any encouragement would be greatly appreciated.
Ah, such is the peril that entraps the grinders. It is important to start stocking up the instant you made the decision to go weaponsmith. I will admit, it seems that some resources are hard to come by, but that hits everyone. On my server, I only by coincidence stocked up on Axidite Iron - I didn't know it was for a couple of advanced components - I just got it because it had pretty good stats for iron - so that was a double bonus - but I haven't seen any new Axidite to speak of for three months, and people are starting to cry out for it.
There isn't much you can do about lack of the right resources. Your guild should be made to understand that you are dependent on the whims of the resource shift. Those who just say you suck as a weaponsmith are obviously narrow minded and have no idea how much effort it takes to have the right materials at hand. At least the specific resource requirements have been taken out of several weapons as is.
If you have a guild board, it might be prudent to list every single resource you are in need of. Perhaps some will happen to have some around - and at the same time it will give your guildies an insight into just the sheer number of named resources you require.
250k for a weapon seems a little extreme though, I know you're not charging that, but sheesh.
Once you have your stockpiles of resources you should be ok. But as I said, who knows? I'm running low on Axidite, a lot of WS on my server have run out .... 3 month dry spell and counting ...
Thanks guys... Misery loves company. Actually I am sorry you guys are having to go through this as well. I got so depressed when I walked into another WS warehouse saw like 10 crates of just about every major weapon with stats I have only heard of on kryat weapons. I cant even make a crappy one! I guess I am just realizing this is the way the trade is. I think WS is probably the only crafting trade where demand so outweights supply.
I started stockpiling rare or high quality resources the day I decided to start my WS grind. Even so, I didn't have the resources (or in some cases theforesight) to stock up onlarge quantities of some of the materials, so I may run out before they spawn again. I got about 81K of very nice 950+ OQ Irolunn gas, but I know that likely won't last too long, so I hope it spawns again in the meantime. Also, I'm still waiting for Diatium Copper, Rhodium Steel and Alantium Carbonate Ore to spawn. Fortunately I still have a couple more weeks to finish MWS, so maybe at least the Diatium will spawn in that time.
As for your guildies, the most constructive thing to do is to let them know the types of resources you need and enlist their aid. If your guild has a website, post there. Whenever a rare resource pops up on Corbantis, I post a notice on our guild website and enlist the aid of some of my fellow guildmates. Like someone else here said, maybe some of them happen to have some of the resources and don't know that it's rare stuff (a friend of minegave me somereally nice link-steel he had been holding onto for a while).
It also may help to let your guildies know that you are interested in skill enhancersthat increase weapon assembly/experimentation, so they can be on the look-out for them (assuming you want to use skill enhancers, of course
). Explain to them that this will help you to make them better weapons in the long run.
Hope this is helpful to you.

Greeting fellow weapon smiths,
Ahh I love to hear the frustrations of the Weaponsmith. I was there at one point also. Currently I am still out of Ostrine Carbonate Ore and thus cannot make advanced power handlers. That kind of kills the oppurtunity to make anything decent. But alas, this does not cause me woes. In fact it lets me get out and have fun. In the 2 weeks I have been out, I have managed to make over 1 million creds running Imperial faction missions on Talus. In addition it allowed me to acheive Rifleman and Sniping 2. Also to get 2 Atst's and a holocron. When people ask you to make a weapon just take a second to tell them :
" I can't make you a great weapon right now because X resource hasn't shifted in." most people will just ask you to email them when you can make it. If they get obnoxoius thats what the /ignore is for. I have to compete with 2-3 well known smiths on Bloodfin and still have no lack for business. Enjoy the rest of the game and don't focus on just crafting...trust me it gets old checking harvs all the time. I have built a decent client base and numerous folks like the name and quality I provide. But a word to the wise, do not spam advertise! If you do, chances are you get /ignored. Answering /tells personally and word of mouth are the best advertising. Maybe this will help and maybe not but in either case remember that people will always need weapons of quality. And 250k is kinda high priced. Although I have seen krayt enhanced try to sell at 750K (outrageous) I don't think I've ever sold a weapon for over 40K for the fact I am trying to make freinds and get repeat business.
As for resources, I am curently just stockpiling anything good and enjoying my time getting FP. Only 6K from a third ATST! Soon I might solo some Krayts. Good Day all....

Yeah some resources can be a real pain to get, and looking to other servers just make it even more painful as of course they all get what we need *sighs* and we get what they need ![]()
a comment on krayt weapon price, a weapon can easily be well worth 750k or more if it's krayt enhanced with really high end tissues, now depending on the weapon and stats it can be outrageous but imagine a DX2 made with 150+ max dmg tissues, each tissue could easily sell for 150-200k on any server, u need 5 for a DX2 so for tissues only it worth 750k to 1mil, this weapon would be kinda unique so it'd worth it imo
now 2-3mil for an holocron, that is outrageous ....
I didn't do nearly enough research before I started out on weaponsmith, and I'm paying the price now. Everyone wishes the rare stuff would spawn more often. Maybe SOE will feel our pain.....
And Ciiiry, maybe I can talk to you about buying enough irolunn for a couple 5 or 6 weapons? Please? Gotta feed the family you know......... ![]()
When I worked my way up, I found the list of resources and if I saw them, tried to grab some. I
ground some, but didn't go insane until the last few days. As a result, I had at least a few hundred
units of most of the resources. They don't last long, but the do help the frustration.
Of course I missed ostirine, and now that it hasn't been around for 2 months, everyone misses it.
I had one novice WS who wanted training, and I said sure. Then I told him to make sure he
got some rare material that was out (class 3 solid or something similar). He said he wasn't
going to, and if it wasn't there when he got to Master, he'd just make other weapons.
I simply said Ok and walked away. The good news is that I know he won't be a competitor if
he does make master.
Rev ill give you alittle but i strongly recomed holding it for Krayt weapons your guildies want you to make them
Hi all i am jst starting out as a weaponsmith on the valcyn server and i would lke any help i can get regarding what resouces i should try to stock up on while i have the time
Snoso Hemid: Valcyn server
Current place of residence: Corellia
Weaponsmith 0-1-0-0
Smuggler 0-0-0-0
Marksman 1-4-1-3
Brawler 4-1-0-0
Medic 3-2-3-3
Artisan 4-1-3-1
I would wager that it took me the better part of two months to gather everything I needed to craft everything in the WS tree. Even then, I'm just about out of decent quality polonium iron and brythosis gem, which hasn't spawned in 3 months. Oh well, at least stun batons aren't in huge demand. =)
It takes time. Perhaps the most frustrating thing of all is stockpiling something, and then having some better quality version spawn right after. But oh well, that's the business.
hold the travel packs with my WS materials in them. Have to store some in another house.
Especially if I'm doing big factory runs, for say rocket launchers (ie proton grenades) where
I need to have temp storage space just for the factory runs that the end component requires.
You end up having to use the output hopper of the factory more often than not. This is
ridiculous.
