They could make them non-schematic-able ![]()

The way around that is you go to create the prototye item, and while it's crafting in your tool a lightning bold comes down from the heavens and makes your weapon uber strong.

We should never be able to craft weapons or armor better or equivalent to the best droppable items through PvEing. Weaponsmiths craft weapons that are better than 99.99% of dropped weapons. This should be enough.
If you give them the ability to craft equivalent or better than (Exceptional) drops then the entire high-level PvE aspect of the game will disappear and it will just become a cash-farming exercise until you have saved up enough money to go to a Weaponsmith and pay them to craft and craft and craft until they finally get an exceptional weapon. This is what happened in DAoC for a while and I for one hope that it never happens in SWG.
I hope they neverallow Weaponsmiths / Armorsmithsto add DoTs / reactive DoTs, craft exceptionals, or mods to their items.
Well, if they make it as rare a chance as looting an exceptional or legendary, I don't see any weaponsmith, for any amount of money, willing to sit there and craft and craft and craft until they get something exceptional. Besides, you speak as if cash farming doesn't exist now, all the difference is you're gouging your fellow cash farmers and paying wads of money to some other loot slave who got lucky on a roll against a loot table. And no one here's said take away exceptional loots from NPCs and make them Weaponsmith only, have they?
It just comes down to being us being stiffed as is. It doesn't matter if 99.9% of our stuff is better than the junk that drops - it's the small tiny percentage that has a big effect. We were meant to be the masters in weapon crafting, and player items were always meant to be the best in the game. I was on guild voice over IP chat and it was slightly disheartening to hear about where to get the good weapons from NPC drops - it felt like my entire profession was devalued. Yes, I realise it's not totally devalued and that yes, we will remain in market as exceptional+ drops are rare, but that's not the point. Most of us don't care about raking money in, it's about professional pride and our place in the community. You don't hear as much exceptional armour pieces drop. I've never heard of any legendary food. What about an exceptional Probot? Looted weapons are just the tried and tested, easy route out.
Exceptional+ loots were a slap in the face as far as I am concerned as it was a cheap and nasty way to shore up the fact that the combat system is poor, it's too easy to master professionsand the GCW is non-existent. High end players who are classified as 'end game level' were both prolific as it was easy to get to end game inside a matter of weeks, or perhaps even days, and were clamouring for content - and SOE needed to give something so they stuck around.
If there was a real end game, continuous content - if the GCW had a point - do you think so many people would have been upset about being 'bored' and therefore needed placating with such 'loots'?
Anyway it's an old flogged to death issue.
