Thanks for the input.

Well the resources I have covered. I've been harvesting and selling resources for long enough to have most of everything I need. i'm hesitant to start on WS because while I enjoy the craftng aspect, I don't want to spend my evenings talking to everyone who want to know the speed on my latest run of scout blasters.

For me there are3 things that take up almost all of my playing time.

1) I hand makeover half of the weapons I sell. I do factory runs of comonents - power handlers, blaster barrels, etc. and factory runs of weapons without scopes and stocks, but my stock & scope weapons are very popular because they just look darn cool aside from having nice stats on them. Since scope and stocks dont display if you run them through the factory, its time consuming making each one.

2) I sell every type of weapon, including grenades and rocket launchers. So much time is spent setting up factories and then waiting on factories to finish.

3) Dealing with customers. This is probably the most time consuming of all. I try to (as much as possible) be a high customer service merchant and spend alot of time in my shop answering questions and educating my customers. Its amazing how little people know about their own weapons. So education, and of course dealing with the kids that think that since you reply to their tells means you are their best friend. hehe But overall, though it can be frustrating at time, dealing with customers is probably my favorite part of being a weaponsmith.

Resources, I buy

but time is to get vendor stocked. Esp when my vendor is located in a very popular area ( a lot of traffic) while I like to craft in a city with Research bonus

I often here comments from weaponsmiths about how time consumming the proffesion is. I was wondering, does this come more from dealing with the customers or the making of the weapons. I realize that it does involve both to some degree. But I was wondering how much of a difference it would make if a WS worked through a reseller to avoid the customer interaction, and custom orders.

This is mainly just out of curiousity. Thanks for any input.

two things.. Harvesting and factories.

Back in the day.. I would argue that factories should give xp... but this was before we had macros...

now I think factories should be FAST.. and give no xp. It can take 5 days to do a run of 1000 items easily.

Harvesting... finding the resources, planting harvesters, waiting for the shift to end, moving harvesters to new resource location..etc, etc.

Gathering the huge variety of high quality resources is the most time-consuming aspect. Even if you only want to make a select few items (say you want to specialize in melee weapons) you still may be waiting months for the specific resources you need to appear in good qualities on your server. Unless you can buy out a weaponsmith who is going out of business, or have a dedicated resource supplier, there is no way around the resource gathering wait.

I'm not sure it's the most time consuming, as harvesting/surveying is, but the most annoying is clicking on all myresources to find the correct resource for a schematic..... can we please have something a little more descriptive than "Steel"?... please... please... please... ahh go on... its a minor code change... make ita switchable option if you think the noobs will be too confused.

Amen!

I have all my resources separated into backpacks, categorized by: Rare/Expensive, Copper, Aluminum, Steel, Iron, Ore, Gemstones, Chemicals/Gases.

This goes to help alleviate the pain somewhat, and the new view that we can choose since the last publish (the 'built-in' examine window in the inventory/backpack screen) helps a bit as well.
