Thread: Bowcaster Crafting Change

SOE:
Look, you gave the Armorsmith profession the ability to craft Wookiee armor - they don't even have to talk to a Wookiee to find out how! Non-Wookie Armorsmiths can create these special armors unique to the Wookiee species.
So, why can't I craft a Bowcaster? I don't want to wield one, just create it. You can't tell me there's some secret method that I can't reverse-engineer, or that I lack the physical strength to build it. I have the machine tools to make T-21 rifles, rocket launchers, droids, all manner of items....and I can't make a Bowcaster?
Time to change it....make the Bowcaster craftable by all and at least light AP if it is not already. Should be medium AP, really.
Who's with me?

It'd be cool to be able to make one. I don't know that I want to see them more common with the abph/apfm duo though.

Would that be because you could put Krayt PHs, Spider Fang feed mechanisms, and the oh-so-rare looted blaster rifle barrels on them?

That might have something to do with it. Not very hard to change either.

I totally agree with you. Not sure about the AP but any WS should be able to build a bowcaster.

beats me.. no logic. a fantasy armor sets for wookies can be build by any AS but bowcaster only by a wookie WS... fair is fair let all WS make bowcasters. 2 sets of armor vs 1 weapon isn't even a brainer...

I'm curious - it's been more than a year - how come all of the sudden it's become vogue to want to build bowcasters? Are they about to become super powerful and I didn't hear about it.
/shrug - you can build bowcasters if I can also get the rodian/mon cal assembly bonuses that I voluntarily sacrificed so that I could make the bowcaster. Mm?

oh thats right even after spending all that cash to make my showpeice it still has no AP and worse stats than a +30tissue lazer

I think it would be better if armorsmiths needed to be wookie for making the wookie armor.. but oh well

You don't have to be a wookiee weaponsmith to make a bowcaster. All you need to be is a wookiee. They need to be weaponsmiths if they want to experiment on them.....but any wookiee can assemble them (even non-artisan) if they have the components. With this said....how can a wookiee non-artisan craft a weapon that a human master weaponsmith can't? I agree...this is silly.
I also agree that AP1 is appropriate for the bowcaster, but as of now...they are AP0.

How about you can have the assembly bonus when there is a Mon Calamari-only weapon? Mm?
It isn't the vogue, it's just been nagging at me. Nags me more now that there is Wookie armor that anybody can make. While I appreciate the position of Wookiee weaponsmiths, there just isn't any logic behind this restriction anymore.

Why does there have to be an ulterior motive? It's one of the more unique-looking weapons in game, would be nice to see more of them around.
