I'm curious - it's been more than a year - how come all of the sudden it's become vogue to want to build bowcasters? Are they about to become super powerful and I didn't hear about it.
/shrug - you can build bowcasters if I can also get the rodian/mon cal assembly bonuses that I voluntarily sacrificed so that I could make the bowcaster. Mm?
How about you can have the assembly bonus when there is a Mon Calamari-only weapon? Mm?
It isn't the vogue, it's just been nagging at me. Nags me more now that there is Wookie armor that anybody can make. While I appreciate the position of Wookiee weaponsmiths, there just isn't any logic behind this restriction anymore.
That argument doesn't work for you.
At character creation there was (in terms of races with any weaponsmith related bonuses):
Mon Cal = +10 weapon assembly
Rodian = +10 weapon assembly
Wookiee = bowcasters
I'm not asking for the bonus without any kickbacks like you are. You're wanting the only kickback a wookiee weaponsmith gets (in this context). If I said "I want +10 weapon assembly" and then you said "Give us a Mon Cal only weapon" then you'd be absolutely right.
I'm not however asking for the bonus. I made the sacrifice to make bowcasters. You want to make bowcasters, fine, then assign the +10 weapon assembly bonus to wookiees. Then all three races with any weaponsmith related bonuses will all be even - same bonuses and no one has access to schematics the others do not. The way you want it set up then there's absolutely NO reason why wookiee weaponsmith would be a choice (in terms of sheer production). Why be a wookiee weaponsmith when you can be one of the other two and get the assembly bonus AND still make bowcasters?
If you truly appreciate the position of wookiee weaponsmiths, then you'd not be asking to rob the only weaponsmith bonus they get. Bein' self centric here sure - but I knew about the +10 assembly bonuses and I still chose bowcasters over it. If it was bowcasters for everyone I would've been Mon Cal or Rodian. So that's why I said, if you want bowcasters, then give the assembly bonus to wookiees - then it'll be even. Heck, that would suit me fine.
Besides, it's a very small and tiny niche, bowcasters aren't that great (which is disappointing) and your assembly bonus applies to all weapons that all races use, not just bowcasters which only wookiees use for a) levelling to Rifles 2 b) wookiees that have no marksman c) Purely for show.
A reason behind letting wookiee armur be made across the board is simply one of supply. Before wookiee armour, not many wookiees would be an armoursmith - they can't benefit off their own work. To restrict it would mean a very, very limited supply (to non existent) or resulting in the need for people to begin armoursmithing as a wookiee, which puts them even further behind the ball. There is no way you can convince anyone that bowcasters have nearly the same utility as wookiee armour. Every wookiee would benefit from the armour - it's relied upon to bring things even. The bowcaster? Well, you do the math on rifles.

Yes, I'm asking to have your only 'kickback' 'taken away' from your species. Except for all the OTHER Wookiee bonuses you get....
So yes, the argument works for me just fine. I'm disregarding the position of Wookiee Weaponsmiths completely - as you stated it's not a very useful weapon. There's no logic behind keeping the restriction. It won't 'harm' the Wookiees out there to have the restriction lifted, therefore there is no need to 'compensate' the Wookiee species.
Bowcaster schematic != +10 Assembly Bonus
Bowcasters have an actual history, and the fictional history for the bowcaster states that only Wookiees use them, and only wookiees know how to make the ancient weapon.
SOE would be changing documented Star Wars history on an already existing item if they allowed more than Wookiees Make Bowcasters.Not as if History is being changed too much the way it is. There is no benefit from making Bowcasters, and I like the fact that only Wookiees can make them.
These weapons are not meant to be Mass produced and sold on vendors. Historically bowcasters are crafted by the owner and used by the owner.
In game to simulate that I craft a bowcaster and name it after the owner. I have yet to make a factory of bowcasters as I dont believe a wookiee would use machinery to craft this weapon.
I would be against this request, there isnt some supe radvantage Wookiee weaponsmiths have over non wookiee weaponsmiths (even combatwise wookiees dont have any advantage)

Sure, they are a traditional Wookiee weapon. But don't try to tell me that I couldn't take an existing Bowcaster and work out how to mass-produce them. It's a fairly straightforward weapon, after all.
Combatwise, Wookiees have plenty of advantage...just not in PvP. PvE all those extra stat points are right handy.

Ok, so a WS should be able to "work out how to mass-produce" a Lightsabre as well then... (of course not).
It's a legendary wookiee only weapon and should remain so. Only reason to become a wookiee WS is the Bowcaster. You get no other benefits that others get.
The extra points are meaningless. When fully buffed it has almost zero influence.
On topic: What I would LOVE to see though is a Wookiee-only "Heavy Khashyykian Bowcaster"... with the EXACT same stats as the T21... with the same Cert... same resources to make... but looking like a bowcaster.
I hate seeing all wookiees runnning around with T21s when they should use Bowcasters!

you have obvioulsy never played a wook otherwise you would not try to argue such a silly point. Wooks get extra Strength ( a secondary if you dont nkow) and we all know that buffs health and action 6 stats up well past the point of not mattering anymore if you have 100more here or there. however the mind stats are what does matter and wooks are limited severaly on those with there main inherant bonus rendered irrelevent witht eh CH nerf way back in november.

since we're on this topic answer me this
How do MWS forget schematics?
Well.....that's a great point!
The Answer:
Devs think we're stupid!
There is a very good reason why after making the mistake of creating a wook main toon ALL of my alther chars are humans

I have played a Wookiee. If you are not buffed, it's nice to not have to really do anything but drink some Brandy and eat some Canape to jump right into a fight.
Like I said, in PvP I'd hate to be a Wookiee. In PvE it's nice to have the extra points if you're not online long enough to waste money on buffs.
And thanks, I know how the stat system works. I wanted to have a rational discussion, not trade jabs with condescending, angry Wookiees.
