Thread: I knew that was coming....

I was waiting for the posts to disapear.

Although it was not the wise thing to do, I don't blame Mor'dan for his posts - the issue needs serious attention before it is pushed out live.

Maybe if a "Red Name" focus thread or Feedback thread had been started then people wouldn't feel the need to raise the issue in other forums.

I actually think the worst thing is the animosity (spelling?) that has risen from this.

As I said before it got deleted we and the entertainers should stand together as we are both a minority.

Im sure if we stopped yelling at each other we could work a new kind of buff out that was needed (essential?) but didnt ruin our profession and its endgoal.

Animosity

I agree - there needs to be productive communication between the entertainers and the crafters about this.

This sort of thing needs to be discussed at the concept level really - not when it gets put on the TC.

But since we are there now, if any of the Devs are reading this - please can we have some input from yourselves and 2-way discussion before this goes live. There is definately a need to look at the specific crafting professions and their current situation and how this will effect them.

first step is making people understand this is bad at all for any one of the crafting professions.

even that point was lost on 99 percent of the people discussing it.

Yes this should have been discussed at the concept level cause as it stands now I can understand why the Entertainers feel we are trying to steal content away from them by battling the resource buff.

As it stands now we are being put against each others. Had we gotten the notion of these before they went on TC Im sure we could have come up with better ideas taht would have benefitted both our professiontypes.

Just for the record: Im still very much against this buff

I just wanted to pop in and thank you folks for the effort you all have been giving in the entertainer/dancer/musician forums. Since the first hint of this was brought to my attention I have been (mostly silently)devouring the expansive discussions posted there and here.

In particular, I want to thank the people who have already responded to THIS thread, as you all seem to have been presenting cogent &comprehensivearguments to the entertainers, whether they have been well received or not. In many cases I would have a reaction to a post, but a few posts down I would find one of you had responded with exactly my concerns in a much more clear manner than I ever could have.

Thanks for helping educate the populace to our concerns.

it seems most are not looking at the long term effects of this change, fine it's something that the entertainer profession needed for the longest time, but please understand that this will have dire consequences for the game as a whole...

and really, we're not trying to take away from the Entertainer profession, we're just trying to stand up for something that affects ALL crafters not just Weaponsmiths

My main character is a part time entertainer i have always had dancing skills. And since bf is gone i really feel for the entertainers since i do enjoy entertaining people. But my first profession is weaponsmith. And this buff just hurts me to much. All the time i invested in my resources i don't want to get that wasted. Because right now that 10% is just to much. Believe me i have plenty of entertainer friends i do not wish to steal any content away from you guys. I wish they made an entire publish donated to quests and content for you guys only. I love entertainers swg wouldn't be the same without them. And i don't mind having to get a buff or anything. But not like it's right now.

Entertainers need love so do the new players that are starting. But i do believe that something most of us have worked so hard for shouldn't be changed like this. And personally i invested over 50% of my game time in my resources. Sure these buffs are great for entertainers but not like this. Different buffs is great they will have to work and will be able to charge for buffs. But that 10% buff that's just a no-go. Because of the negative impact.

And to the people who are not crafters i'm sorry but if you don't understand how the crafting process works how can you reply. You might know how entertainers work or jedi or rifleman. But crafting is a whole different game. I don't whine or post about jedi stuff or rifleman stuff whatever. If you don't understand that this will hurt the crafting profession you don't understand what those resources mean to a weaponsmith and how they work.Let me try to quote something i saw in another post.

If a resources has a 60% quality the 10% increase will be 66% that's not a big difference. That's correct but a 92% resources + 10% = 100. Most smiths have resources that are above 95% that means that all resources will be the same. You can justuse your biggest stack of resources available. And believe me do a search on some resources there are a lot off resources that are at 92% and higher on every server. I have over 3 different stacks of every named resource i need. Stuff like axidite iron steel copper i have even more.

To say this in short it's not that the buff is a bad thing. But after so much different resource spawns the quality are just high. If this game wasn't so "old" allready that wouldn't be a problem. But it's not that the 60 to 66 increase is a problem the 90%+ resources are the problem you will take away over 50% of the weaponsmith profession. If a new player posts in the weaponsmith forums to ask what he needs to look for and that he is starting the grind there is a common reply to that: Resources Resources Resources. This profession is based on resources because we need so many different ones it's a fun challegen to improve them all. Without the buff i don't think we will ever get to 100% that's just something that keeps it fun for me.

just because we do not have a viable developed alternative does not mean we do not have the right to object to one aspect of the buff (resources of course) that is damaging to our crafting professions while still supporting the rest of the proposed buffs.

Okay fair enough. But how many objections are needed? 10, 100, 1000? When asked for options and alternatives and responding with continued objections surely you'll agreewill cause frustration, for both. Had the "objections" been kept to a minimum, perhaps the other post offering alternatives wouldn't have ended up being deleted. The end result is that dancers felt they were again being attacked and crafters felt like they were being ignored. Both sides lost. Can we work toward something other than that now?

I'm willing to work on a compromise to suit both our needs i could live with using a resource buff every time i craft. But the 10% will just have to go one way or another. 1, 2,3,4 or 5 at it's max should be workable. As far as i know all use smiths are damn proud of our resource collection. Like you entertainers are proud of the dances and combinations etc you can make and shows you can put on. We can work towards a better solution but would i would really like to see is a post from a dev because without them we can't do a thing.

Btw i love your signature it's just great.
