Thread: Thoughts on the limited schematics

As each new dungeon comes out, the new weapons, all requiring looted components, continue to multiply. I'm wondering what my fellow WSs think of this growing trend??

Not to bias your opinion at all but let me ask a few questions and make some points. Feel free to comment on them as well as expressing your opinon to the above question as well. Someone tell me the point of including smiths in the process if each schematic is going to be only 1 or 2 uses (as I've heard the new ones are on TC). This precludes any mass production or distribution of the weapon and limits it to pretty much customer by customer special orders. These are very time intensive. If this trend of limited and very limited schematics requiring looted components continue, all customers may want is one of the "new" weapons. All WSs will then be inundated with custom order requests for single schematic weapons.

When you really think about it, how stupid is it to think a weaponsmith "learns" a schematic to make a new weapon and can only remember it long enough to make 1-3 weapons?? What are we, a bunch of weaponsmiths with incredibly poor short-term memories? Do we all have amnesia of some sort? It would be more realistic if the devs dropped a X34 landspeeder on our heads after we use the last schematic use and posted a note saying,

"An X34 landspeeder just landed on your head. It really hurt and has affected your memory. You have forgotten how to make New Weapon XYZ."

These limited schematics arealmost as absurd as the "magic" clothing attachments that improve our intellect so we can experiment more on a weapon... but that's another topic for another day...

If they're going to limit schematics to 1 or 2 items, I think they should just make them looted drops. What fun is it to hold you're breath waiting on a crit failure when you only have one chance on the weapon? What fun is it not to be able to tinker around and experiment with different scopes, stocks, or characteristics of the weapon?

Enough from me... what do you guys think?

I think you have a very valid point, I'm not a weapon smith.

However Since I just looted the schem for the nightsister lance, I read this topic and agree with you 100%.

Devs at least drop the speeder on them

I agree 100%. I don't like the loot trend at all. It is slowly making us more a servant class to the holy loot fighters (sarcasm!).

Also have any of you guys been following the corellian corvette feedback thread? I've noticed a few people comment that the loot weapons they are getting are "comparable" to player crafted.... why are we crafters again?

agree 100%

the fact this game wasnt loot based is the main reason it apealed to me so much, crafting was actually usefull, but as it stands now its getting more and more of a loot hunt, all you need the crafter for is to put your loot drops together for you, personaly im starting to find it more of an insult the way were included in all this more than anything else.

I don't like the limited schematic for new higher end weapons (scythe blade, DXR6 Rifle, etc) because the people who come to you know that the schematic is limited and they want all the uses for themselves. I don't mind doing that for guildmates, but not strangers who just looking for the nearest weaponsmith.
I always charge at least keeping 1 use for myself or thecost if I were to be selling one of the weapons.
Some customer don'd mind the cost- but you always get the rude customers. These customer feel that we're doing them the favor and honor of making them their weapons.

What kind of incentive is that to continue to make weapons...

The devs need to give the weaponsmith some new perm schematics as they did for the armorsmiths and upcoming patch for droid engineer.

Disagree 100%

We needed better loot drops. We needed also to keep crafters in the loop. If they just had great weapons dropping from mobs then the weaponsmiths would shout about how the stuff they make is now useless, absurd yes, but that would be the general sentiment. This way they keep the crafters in the loop as the ultimate weapon makers, but to get that magic loot the hunters bring it to us. AND by making it so you need genosian sword core or power cubes or whatever you limit the special loot so no 1000 factory runs are made.

I believe this was the almost perfect solution. I think the only thing that would have made it better instead of making a component necessary make it so we could not make schematics from these special weapons...we just get the 3 uses to make standard.

Yes always teh chance of crit fail...but thats life. I messed up on a Krayt republic with powerhandlers made from +129 krayt tissues...it hurts, but it happens.

I agree lets keep this thread going maybe the devs will take the hint. Why be a master weaponsmith, and get choked out by uber guilds. You arent includeing us in the community, You are makeing the craft we are doing more of a pain then a pleasure. All they are doing is what they have done for months widen the gap between the haves and the have nots. All this nonsense does is make a weaponsmith jack up the prices, and spend more time wheeling and dealing for loot. Anyone else think its asanine to give a crafter a ton of weapons to make, and then cut the demand off at the knees.

Customer how much for the geo rifle

me 20000

Customer wow thats alot

me tell my about it, maybe you can talk to the guy who charged me six k for each white cube, and the guy who is selling the schematic for thirty k

Customer can you make the geonosian pistol

me no sorry I do not have twelve million credits to spend on a schematic.

me I do carry a wide line of modified republics featherweight fwg5s

customer no I wanted something real good.

I have never beleived in ganking the public of funds, but the suppliers feal perfectly okay with ganking me of funds. If this trend continues I will have no alternative but to raise my prices on my weapons, or worse the number of weaponsmiths will continue to decrease stagnateing the market. Do the devs really want this only twenty weaponsmiths per server. If I buy the schematic then it should be mine for good.

I hear three more limited schematics are comeing oh goody this is the dumbest thing I have heard. Nice to hear the droid engineers are getting treated like kings. They do not have to haggle, and wheel and deal to build their stuff. I hope more people post on this thread. The devs really need to get the hint.

Yes the 3 new weapons on the test center are all 1 use schematics-- using special looted components

Lord I can tell you have a large pa watching your back. Nice pet Nice. Some of us do not want to be pets, or to be tended like a garden. Some of us have to take what fate delivers to us. Maybe I am a bit more democratic then you I think everyone deserves to have a good gun. Without being shaken down at the door for schematics and loot.

It is a stupid system makeing new weapon temp schems that eclipse most of what else is available at master. I have no problem with the loot system that makes sense. Temp schems do not. Schems should be viewed as an accomplishment. This crafter has the ability to craft these more advanced weapons. In other words when you get a new schematic it should be a way to improve your character not chain it.

the majority of people seem to be behind this, and for those that say we need some rewards and loot to hunt, there are still components, everyone could have the wep, if you wanted to make it better then you can hunt for enhanced components, thats the way it worked up untill these schems and personaly i liked it that way.

They seemed to listen to us on the crafting change a while back, mabey if we got a petition going for this we could get schems changed to be permenant.

I guess you were talking to me. My name is Maxx and I purposely did not join a guild until after I was established master weaponsmith on chilastra. I joined a guild for fun and hunting and continued to mine my own resources after that. I then used my profits to buy better components like tissues and such and offered better prices than my competitors to become rich. BUT the point of the matter is, Im glad that people have to go to Master weaponsmiths to have these special weapons made, instead of the BEST weapons in the game dropping off a genosian you get a schematic and have to go to a crafter to MAKE the BEST weapon in the game.

This is not everquest great loot drops are important, but we should not cut out the crafters. Like i said the only better solution would have not used these components like genosian power cubes, just dont allow these schematics to be used to make schematics for factories, but that may have been too hard to code.

I don't have a problem with temp schematics... I actually like them... That aside... I dislike not having at least 5 uses per schem... If the new schems from the Corovet are only 1 use, then I'm gonna join on the complaint wagon about them!
