Thread: Thoughts on the limited schematics

to an extent i agree with you, i liked them when they came from quests as everyone could get them, since they started makeing them loot drops i really dislike them, looted components and enhancements i like, gives something to hunt for, components arnt usualy overly expensive so arnt a big problem, enhancements can be very expensive, but arnt required so arnt a problem... but currently theres a geno pistol on ahazi start 4 mill buyout 12 mill.... thats just over the top, if we all had to only get one schem, then the powercubes woud still be needed, but they wouldent go for quite this much...

The reason for 1 use is to just give that player one reward...but I guess it critical fails you are worried about, or bad experimentation results...Thats the downside, but if they just gave weapons as loot, people would end up getting good ones and bad ones so some people would getmessed overin that system
It seems your whole arguement and opinion is based on "they will either dolimited loot schematics or loot weapons." Let's call those options A and B. Do you realize A and B are not the only options? There are plenty of other ways things that can be done and good loot given.
You know, if they want to give 1 reward (and I suspect you are right) then any unique item would work just as well. There are more items in this game than just weapons. How many uber loot droids, armor, clothing, furnature, harvesters, houses do you see? How many components are looted for those?
In every big patch recently the weapons we have worked hard to produce get trumped. I'm getting a bit tired of it quite honestly. Why be a master weaponsmith when you can't make the great weapons unless some super loot fighter desided to give you the "privilege" of making him his next super weapon?
Oh, and btw good player crafted quality weapons DO in fact get looted. They are rare atm, but they do drop. But a constant trend that is seen in mmogs is... what is rare today will be comon place tomorrow.
Is it just me or is the real fun in crafting. Say crafting a better weapon. These limeited schems really turn people into manufacture monkeys. There is also an easier solution for the weapons, and simple too. They are the loots. The loots are hard enough to get anyway and we are limited on how many guns we can make based on the loot.
Not to mention livelihood is based on selling weapons. If your a manufacture monkey then you have to be on alot more of the time. Otherwise you will miss out on the customers. It is not a great system, and as it is not trying to make a scapegoat at all, but it even more hobbles novice and beginner weaponsmiths.
Maxx its nice to hear that you are rich. Personally I am not I prefer to provide my customers with the best on price and quality, and I make a minimal profit on my weaponry. Your logic is that of the typical fat cat. Who is willing to spend a million to sell something at three million. I do not have the money to buy a new schematic every three days, or to spend 100000 a week on loots to provide for my customers. I am trying to keep the prices low.
Temp schems are an expense that can get very high. Loots are more manageable. This system is spiraling smiths into one form of service fat catting. Overchargeing the public at up to a thousand percent. So they can buy and stockpile schematics. This is just a rotten idea anyway you look at it. This can only limit the options that customers can have.

If you don't want to handle loot weapons then don't. There are thousands of weapons purchased weekly on any server. Loot weapons are a tiny fraction of those. Just because loot weapons make the big headlines and bring the highest prices for individual weapon sales doesn't mean that they're only viable sales items. The reason they do cost so much is because of their rarity. Be thankful for that rarity, otherwise we truly would just be loot assemblers.
Don't be too selfish and demand that loot weapons, schematics or components be removed. Without something interesting worth hunting for, fighters have little reason to fight and if they don't fight, then weaponsmiths make no sales at all. Zero, zip, zilch.
Besides, I would imagine that the hunt for loot components chews up more weapons through usage than they end up producing through schematics and components.
I for one think the system is perfect as is.
Do you see my point though? As the types of limited schematic weapons grow in numbers, they will soon outnumber the regular types and its quite possible their demand will outweigh the demand of the weapons we can mass produce. Well, we have to supply the masses with weapons and lots of them. If what they want are the limited kind, we will be completely turned in "manufacturing monkeys" and our factories will start collecting dust besides make the unlootable components. I believe that most of us sell enough weapons that money is not the driving force for much of what we post here. So, we don't really need additional incentives or motives for folks to wear their guns down any faster than the current rate.
Sooo, I don't see it as being selfish to ask for folks to see where this current trend of limited schematics is taking us and what those implications are. Nor am I saying that loot weapons, schematics, or components be removed. Just bringing up some points that I think should be thought about before we drive off any bridges that are out...
p.s. no system is perfect ![]()
To be honest, I like the idea of loot components (themepark barrels, form-fitted stocks, etc) more than I like the idea of loot schematics. I also really like the idea of loot component enhancers best! Still, I think loot schematics are good too, I just REALLY REALLY hate the 1 and 2 use schems. I also hate losing components when you get a crit or cancel a crafting session (network loss, client dies, ro you jsut canceling it).
