I assume everyone has noticed the increase in spawn rate of all of the IRON types ... ran some quick research and noted that the change has occurred on all of the galaxies.
With the increase in the numbers of Polonium, Plumbum, Colat, Axidite, etc spawns - I have also noticed that we are getting far fewer coppers, aluminums, and steels than normal.
At first I assumed "maybe it's a JTL thing, and a lot of iron is needed to make spaceships" - then sanity returned, as nothing Sony does turns out to be a favor... what I am fearfull of is that it is a NERF.
Why? Simple, Iron is the only mineral in the weaponsmith area that typically only benefits a single weapon. (exceptions being plumbum which has 3-4 weps, and polonium with 2 weapons). If you think about how long it took you to amass that complete set of Weaponsmith materials in sweet quality (for me it was one full year) and then assume under the new system they have reduced the total of steel/alum/copper by 20% .... then I fear for the new smiths, it will take them that much longer.
Any thoughts on this matter, lads?

I've noticed the heavy iron spawns as well. Not sure what is going on but right now on WH its 2 steels total and more than 20 irons!

I think its just a coincedence. What i think we are going to start seeing is Multiple spawns of minerals all with differnect statistics. Look at the iron for example. I have seen two or three Kamiris Irons pop up all with different stats within the past couple of weeks. I think all of the resources wil start doing this.

same problem on bria, at this rate a specific spawn - say mythra copper may be MONTHS apart - this is a serious nerf, and no one is even seeing the full ramifications yet. We have gone from 5-5 steels and coppers to 2 each.... I hope everyone has large stockpiles of the good stuff because you are going to need it.

I sent in a bug report on this hoping I would get a response since I doubt CSR's know much about it
Logix, can you fill us in?

It does seem pretty unbalanced. I can't think of any good reason why we would be getting so much Iron. A nerf to reduce the spawning of aluminum/copper/steel would be a bad thing , but why spawn all that iron? Why not just a reduction? This makes no sense really.
Did you post about this in theCore Systems forum? It does effect all the crafters directly and everyone else indirectly.

You can also see that the spawn time of most mineral resources has been increased from 7 days to 10 days. I think the reason why we get so few copper, steel and aluminum is just that we get the same number of new resources in 10 days now instead of 7 days, so the spawn rate has slowed by 50%.
Why we have so many iron is a mystery, I assume a bug in the spawn systems that was changed with publish 10. Also note that before pub 10 the resource shift was an instant shift, so from one second to the other you had the new resources available and the old vanished. Now the shift is asynchronous: the old resources will vanish and then 30-60 minutes later the new ones will appear one by one...
Things will change again with the new resource types introduced with JTL, maybe that will bring back things to normal (maybe the spawn system is already updated and just the new resource types spawning are withheld from the live servers, reducing the amount of spawns there). But this is just a speculation, we have to wait and see.

i disagree. corbantis had not had a good polonium iron or pumbnum iron spawn in months, i cant even find anything more then 100 conductivity anywhere on the whole server
I know, it sucks. There are some weapons that I would like to make and I can't find decent conductivity iron either. On corbantis we have copious quantities of crap iron that is of virtually no use whatsoever.
Why would you need iron to make an enegry weapon anyway? Steel and aluminum I can understand, but iron? And why do so many of them need iron? Maybe one or two odd energy weapons I could understand, but half of them?
I won't be making those Jawa Ion Rifles any time soon I guess...

I go to SWGcraft.com every morning to check the spawns. Massive Iron spawns, but only 3 or 4 of the others.

same on farstar
there isn't a massive influx of grade A resources atm, unlike 2-3 months ago, where I had to hire a lot more miners to cover all the different and high quality resources that spawned
