Thread: Are Weapon Powerups Worth Anything Anymore?

I am just restarting my long dormant weaponsmith andI noticed that powerup stats are different from what they were pre-CU. Are they worth bothering with anymore? It almost seems like all they do is raise one stat and drop another.. therefor meaning you might just barley get an over all positve bonus with them. However, since I have heard that they cause more wepon decay then they used to it seems like a waste. Any data or guides or opinions on this topic would be appreciated by myself and I imagine the community in general.

My guild and myself have found that they are MORE useful now. Reasons being that 1) Power-ups can be experimented to 500 uses now, so less time spent messing with them. 2) With ADK's being abundant, Decay is not an issue with your favorite weapon.

Of particular use are the -SAC power-ups, throw a 500 use, -20% power-up on your big fat gun, take a hit of accaragam and Spam specials to your little hearts content.

i use +34% damage +14% speed pups - (that effectively have a -SAC mod as they lower the speed.. - also as a twielek i dont seem to have to many action problems) +34% dam gives my elite carb a max dam of 1220

that doesnt make sense

pups that increase dmgmake gun slower

pups that reduce sac make guns less accurate

how can that pup you mention affect sac?

that +14%speed you are indicating is a penalty, not a benefit

and pups affect only 2 stats, one benefitand one penalty, like a seesaw......speed and dmg will affect dps tho if you are looking atdps

I think mastersheep means that because the gun is a little slower, there's less drain on the action/ more time to rebuild action, effectivelyincreasing the special-spamming ability.

I've found that using a speed-lowering powerup really puts a strain on action even drugged-up. I alternate between Damage power-ups for medium-length fights and SAC-lowering power-ups for long grinding sessions.

Thanks for the info. My Alt is a Master Rifleman/Ranger and when I make powerups for him I want them to be for big nasty solo fights with the highest end soloable critters. I assume that a slow gun doing high dmg per shot and a low SAC would be the best choice? Speed doesn't seem like it would matter alot since I use traps and special shots to keep them away from my easily broken body. Does this seem right? I have not played much since CU. Thanks

I use SAC powerups (28% SAC drop, 13 accuracy loss) religiously. Asa master rifleman/MBH/master marksman, losing a minimal amount of accuracy is completely insignificant, and allows me to spam specials. Rifle is ADK'd, so no decay worries.

I know that accuracy levels can effect the amount of dmg a rfileman does to his opponent. Having never really tested this I am unsure of what amount of accuracy loss is insignificant. Any other riflemen of WS care to throw out some data or experiences on this?

It is possible to build powerups with almost no negative modifier. The bonus will not be that great but you wont have to worry about lowering speed/dmg/accuracy.

At work now but I think I got the negative down to like 0,05% and the positive to 10-12%.

Just another note, my accuracy (including ranged accuracy from FS) is 302, I lose about 13 pts of accuracy. I havent noticed a bit of difference in damage, or misses.

Because I don't have any ranged skills or ranged professions I use speedpower ups lot on my trado hunding rifle just in case I get rooted and pull out my rifle as an alternate attack. They help a lot.
