Thread: Good news for WS concerning slices?

I have not thoroughly tested this, but in my experience with slicing, the constructed caps are higher than slice caps. Can any other gunrunners confirm this?

I'm guessing that the Featherweight constructed damage cap is 966 -> and the slicing cap is 935.
and that the constructed cap for High Capacity Scatters is 948 -> and the slicing cap is 916.

if this is true, it is terrible news, not good news.

That's what I'm talking about... Weapons that are crafted to higher levels will be more valuable than weapons sliced to cap. I would say bad news for smugglers and good news for WS. Capped weapons will be worth something. It is better than weapons being able to slice to craftable caps, which was what I was trying to accomplish. It's not too hard to craft 894 max damage featherweight with 130 damage Gorax bones, you have a lot of points to go into SAC. Pretty Soon everyone on the server would have a 966 max damage 62 SAC featherweight if you could slice to the craftable cap. I made the weapon to slice to 955 and lowered the SAC instead of maxing the damage first. So, there is a reward to crafting the the cap.

What really throws me for a loop is that all the smuggler components are rare and worth a lot of money. Slicing will be beneficial to unenhanced or low end enhanced weapons. But, the people that use those aren't going to pay 500k for a top teir slice on a weapon that costs 20-500k.

can't it be that it stops at 4% and u cannot get any percentage between 4 and 8? or just not counting the decimals...

Oops, sorry this is what started it. I posted this in another thread and then decided to make a new one.

...I built a Featherweight to take an 8% damage slice to get to max with 69 SAC. I applied my Illegal Booster Core to a 919 max damage Featherweight (already had the previous 2 teirs of slicing that appeared normal - started at 855 max damage) and it turned out at 935 max damage. Not exactly a 4% increase... hmmm. I ended up with 2 Featherweights with max damage 935 after slicing, although the other one only required a teir 2 slice to get to 935.

Next I applied a Illegal Booster Core to a 70 SAC High Capacity Scatter (same scenario) and it went from 893 to 916.

I can confirm that slicing 'caps' are lower than crafted weapon caps.

I've made several Krayt Scatter Pistols that upon slicing would not exceed 916 damage. There have also been similar reports regarding DL44XT pistols, although we are not sure whether this is a slicing 'cap' or a bug involved with enhanced weapons (using krayt tissues etc).

Although I am inclined to believe that it is a 'cap' because if you attempt to put a powerup on a weapon and slice it, you will get a message saying 'this item has exceeded its max damage' etc even though you are not at the crafted damage cap. Again, I tried this with a krayted scatter pistol that was around 920 after the powerup and should have still allowed a 2% damage slice without a problem but it did not.

So... slicing high-end weapons seems to be a thing of the past... unless you care to simply increase the speed ridiculously or slice for critical hit (which is reportedly broken)

haha and smugglers were hopin' the new slicin' system will let 'em slice above the caps. apperantly opposite has happened(bug?) and slices are capped below crafed caps.. ouch

I'm getting strange results myself w/ my 75 SAC 918 max dmg HC scatter. I'm trying to apply two damage slices to get the cap of 948 dmg, but after the initial (2%) damage slice, I receive the following message, "This weapon has already surpassed its maximum power output and cannot be sliced." What gives? The stats on my scatter are:

361-918 dmg

75 SAC

2.2 speed

Hi there!

As a smuggler I have found that speed is a more valuable slice than going for max damage in that you get more DPS. If the slice cap is less than the high end cap then it may make more sense to do 3 speed slices followed by a damage slice for a small boost to over all damage. It won't make for the most Uber max damage gun on the server but definately give you respectable DPS.

But also, as a smuggler, having a system that makes slicing worse than just crafting a nice weapon kind of silly.

Dont slice Damage then. Go with speed or my favorite critical hit %
