ive attempted aboutten, first level dmg slices on guns.....9 of them would not carry out the damage slice beacuse the gun was already too powerful....


it walks you through all the windows then once you attempt to apply it....you get the message... lame

only slices worthwhile are damage slices IMHO unless you are capped. I sliced two gorax enhanced feather FWG and the one with 100% speed slice was .02 faster and 20DPS less than the 85%sliced for tier 2damage/tier2speed. So Slice to damage cap first then slice for speed or critical.

It's true the slicing caps are lower than the crafting caps


I've just been making highest dmg and lowest SAC and then slice the hell out of speed...lol

It's true. After testing it repeatedly, I can unequivocally confirm, slicing caps are lower than crafted weapon caps.

Though it's been mentioned on the smuggler forums that if you slice for damage (assuming it gives you the option) and the weapons max damage is capped it will stil raise the minimum damage. Sorta nice. NOt that it counds for very much in the post CU world. But still. For the most part it looks like the way to go on damaged capped weapons these days is hit them with a speed slice and critical chance. As for the prices of slices. Yeah it's totally nuts. But thats what happens when you make something loot driven. That was a VERY poor choice in my oppinion. Crafted components kept slicing cheap and easily affordable by anyone.


Now slicing seems to be only something the wealthy can afford. Which is sort of silly as it doesnt really add -that- much to high end weapons to begin with. But you see it all the time. People will loot say a 9 min 10 max damage barrel and want 50k for it.


Or they'll loot a 320 armor segment stack and want 100k for it etc.


The real problem comes that they made the high end slice component drops so rare. Mostly from things like Krayts, nightsisters etc it seems. I mean personally I like the current slice system itself. lets you pick what you want to go for etc. The mods are reasonable. But the subs are NOT. Really really shows the EQ team driving things here. Loot this, loot that. And to hell with the crafters as a whole! Dont you know they ruin the economy?!?!

Untrue, it wont let you slice for dmg at all if you're capped.

I think level 1 and 2 kits should be craftable, and then the level 3 should be loot. Makes way more sence.. and in fact while im ranting about this, why even BOTHER with 2 stupid levels you can make, just make it so you can do like 8% with craftable, and another 8% with the loot.


Would make slicing with a crafted item worth it, and make the loot worth it to.

This is NOT true.


I was crafting an ALR and I purposely stopped my dmg experimentation on a laser rifle to just crack 1119 and made sure the sac was at 82 and then went to work on speed.


After crafting, I handed the rifle to my alt (the smuggler) and he promptly sliced it for damage 3 times (he had an illegal core booster) and next thing ya know, I'm at 1183 dmg w/ an sac of 82 and pretty nice speed.


I went right to cap (well, it should have gone higher, but it stopped at 1183 in lieu of 1184)
