this game continues to become kotor online.

let me first say i love this game and love beign a weaponsmith. also i dont like doomsdays posts but this is really starting to concern me. also let me say this is in no way directed at jedis. you guys are playing the game it is meant to be played.

jedi are set to go for the combat rebalance. all the other professions besides jedi only stand to get weaker. as of now if your a ranged profession and run into a pvping jedi knight dont even bother fighting him. you will not hit him and with no melee mitigation in effect he will do tons of damage to you. my examples come from 2 duels i had with jedi who are jedi knights.

i duled a jedi which i was fully buffed and on synth steak. my character is a mater rifleman master fecer and some other defesne mods stacked. when i was fightin the jedi in fencer mode he was only doing 150 dmg to me with his hardest lightsaber attack. when i switched to my rifle he was then doing 550 dmg to me with the same hit. now this is before the fabled comabt rebalance.also if the jedi has at least force run 2 and some heal power then forget it. he will run in circles around you and heal himself them come back and pimp slap ya with full power again. the only way tobeat ajedi without combat medic is to be a melee professions and hope you can keep him knocked down and dizzied.

my concerns is if they only stand to make all the reg professions weaker then this game is in trouble. not everyone wants to be a jedi and if they are forced to be a jedi to compete in pvp then this game is goin to be out of business very fast.

now the reason im posting this here is beacuase like i said before i love to a be a weaponsmith and if everyone is to become a jedi then what good are we. we cant make glowy sticks for people so then what. any ranged profession does nto stand a chance vers a high level jedi right now. i woudl also llike to get fellow weaponsmihts points of view about this.

i do hope that everythign i said above does not happen but the way thigns are headed im not to confident.

I never wanted to be a Jedi toon, if i need to be a jedi for not being gimped, i am out of here, even if i really love this game.

As it stands now, a smart Jedi player, of higher rank will carry the fight.

Equivalently skilled players, where their characters are on equivalent level, a melee profession will give a Jedi a run for their money.

REGARDLESS, the more material point is that you can expect to bebuying most of your loot from Jedi who will hands down win each and every single PVE encounter. Period.

Try the caves some night - count the Jedi. Kiss your shredded continuity and healthy economy goodbye, hello continued inflation.

This is, after all, the publish that drove me off in disgust.

yeah thats a great point too. i never even touched the pve weapon loot. on my server is not as bad with having jedi in the geo cave, but from what i hear the more populated servers have tons of them in there and they are looting everything in site. jedi only need to hit a geo guy 3 to 5 times to kill them so there go anyone elses chance of looting anything.

im using the geo cave as an example and im sure this will happen at every dungeon.

There always will be _some_ sales, but I see the smaller smiths being the ones suffering the most. There will always be a need for some weapons, sure, sales will be slowler, but every new players needs some weapons.

But you are right, the way thing are going, every pvper that wants to compete will need a melee professions (which shouldn't even exist in SW) or grind out jedi for themselves. So, smiths will mostly need to head to Melee Weapons and...well not much else

the geo cave on lowca is not even worth going to now. 3-10 jedi there killing everything in site. the only reasons i have an alt is for politician and to loot [and not pay some of these crazy prices ppl want for basic loots] at this rate, if our "reg" combat classes are nerfed, what the hell are we going to loot? aa'kuans??

I too see the possibility of weaponsmith becomming a profession that must be dropped except for maybe 25 people on each server. It is extreamly hard to compete with the large weaponsmiths with alot of demand for weapons, but is weapon demand drops then small weaponsmiths will go the way of at keyboard dancers and musicians. Hope it never comes to that. The whiners who wantedto holo grind nearly killed the artisin professions in general. Jedi has been a double hit to weaponsmith because 1) durring the grind they made a large number of master level weapons, flooding the marker and2) Jedi no longer need a weaponsmith ever again. AndI remember howupsetI was at the FWG5 nerf. This is like getting shot by the nerf rifle. Hope jedi need some WSeventualy.

I'm usually wary of doomsday threads, but this one has an element of truth to it. Since publish 9, Jedi have been running around everywhere. Not just the caves or on Dath hunting NS, but in starports, cantinas, hanging out in Coronet and Theed. It's ridiculous---where's Vader? Where's Boba Fett? Whatever happened to the concept of limited deaths and the fear of being constantly hunted?

As it stands now, once the rebalance hits, it sounds like Jedi might be the only profession that can do solo PvE. Every other combat prof is going to be nerfed to one degree or another, probably to the point where they'll have to be in groups to take on anything worthwhile. I realize it's ridiculous that a MS can solo multiple Rancors at the same time and barely be scratched, but I fear that the Devs might go to far and make it so that you need to be in a big group to take on evenone Rancor. Not everyone has the time, or desire, to find a group every night after work. And not everyone wants to be a leet Jedi.

Depending on how difficult the Jedi Trials are, we may see pretty much every serious player with a Jedi toon. And it sounds like they'll probably need one to stay competitive in either PvP or PvE.

Well, at this point I'll take a wait-and-see approach; the rebalance is still about 3-4 months away.Anyways, itfeels good to vent some of my concerns.

Yep its tough, i'm trying to get my last weapon exp tape and i don't have a clue why i'm searching. The end result with me will be just playing in space with the JTL. If that sucks them i'm out.

I think we all agree that is JTL is going to be either a population boom or bust

Biggens77has some valid points but as I have pointed out in other posts that the template needed for weaponsmith is changing and so is the market. Just like on this other planet that you may be familiar with called earth, the one ever-present component of human based systems is change. No, this is not the game we all started with last year and yes it will be different in the future. First, we need to accept that there will be change. Second, we need to try to anticipate the changes so that we can prepare our templates to accomodate the change.

*Template It is going to require more combat skills than in the past .... and no you are not gonna "take" a Jedi knight let alone Master. Weapons will be even weaker and creatures will be even tougher. You thought Plains Hunter cats sleeping on you harvesters was bad before, just you wait ! And yes, you are going to need the combat skills for the Jedi quests .... not because you'll wanna be a Jedi .... but if your gonna have a piece in the action as a weaponsmith you must have 14 points. All arguments about what the extra points will and will not do are meaningless to a customer who knows only that he wants the very best and has the creds to persue it.

*Market Yes the weapon marketis starting to saturate on some servers. There are "Walmart" type conglomerates that sell weapons at a fraction of their worth as well. There aretwits who think that you add up the total resource quantity useage and charge 4 cpu for a finished product that will last a thousand missions ... while paying 10K for a Doc buff that lasts only one run. Yes there is seemingly a weaponsmith under every rock all trying to grab market share. There are other factors as well. Yes to all of those things. But ...

*Did you grind out weaponsmith to make creds or did ya do it because you liked weapons and crafting them. IF you like being a weaponsmith and like crafting them as I do, then these other things are just so many issues .... noise that gets in the way of the fun of game play .... but .... don't ignore your template.

it is impossible to get 14 points. they changed the force crafitng line. it will not give you 2 extra experiment points. so if you love weapons and want to be a weaponsmith there is still no reason to chase any force sensitive skills.

ive already stated before im gald i dont play on other servers. the prices i have seen for weapons are just silly. and in terms of volume i am a walmart of weapons on my server. just without the cheap prices.
