Thread: Spraysticks and Control Units Question

I did some experimenting with some Spraysticks. On 4 separate runs of these, I tried the following:

1st: No control units used

2nd: 99% Quality Control Units used

3rd: 50% Quality Control Units used

4th: 60% Durability Control Units used

In all 4 of the above, the results were utterly and completely IDENTICAL.

Can anyone tell me what the intention is here? Was this originally supposed to do something, but never worked? Is it broken? Does anyone know what it IS supposed to do? Is it just for looks?

I searched through the FAQs and didn't find the answer to this question, so I thought I'd go ahead and post my question here...

Thanks much!

As your tests show, quality on the CU won't matter.

Right... but, the first one I made didn't have any CUs AT ALL. And the results were still identical...

That was my question... not about how Quality of CU affects the Spraystick... but rather, about how a CU affects the Spraystick at all... ?

your tests have proved what the answer is. And it is good that you did this experiment and asked for a second opinion. obviously the control unit is completely and utterly unneeded and won't affect the stats of the gun, it will just waste CUs.Although i don't know what it might have been originally meant to do, maybe increase accuracy? who knows, what could a control unit do to a weapon besides make it heavier, lol.

Interesting... I have never tried not using control units, but did in fact use the worst materials possible to make them.

So you say they can be made without any control unit at all right? I'll have to try that

Yah... just looked at the schematic again. It says:

"Firing Mechanism Component (optional)"

I'm reporting it ingame as a /bug. I'd like to see them fix and implement this... maybe it would increase damage, at the cost of more HAM? Or else just remove it from the schematic completely.

Nope, control units do nothing in anything they are required. Never did, never will.

Hmm... why have them on the schematic as an optional component if they don't do anything? Something about this sounds like a bug. Either they were meant to change the stats but never implemented, or they were meant to be a required component insetad of optional. Either way, it's a bug. hehe.

Yup. I frequently switch between it, my DXR-6B and my T-21. It was my favorite close-quarters weapon when grinding Rifleman.

That's interesting data. Guess my customers will be getting a price break on my next run since I will not be using control units in them.

Just to be specific, there were no differences in Speed/Damage, Range Modifiers, Wound % (big deal), or HAM costs between the different versions your made?

I recently started using a damage sliced spraystick with a 32% speed powerup while starting my rifleman grind (for the 2nd time) before you can use the dxr6b they hit much better (for lower damage) than a laser or a t21. Overall you might kill something faster with a spraystick at closrange than a laser or t21 unless you get a few lucky shots. Those rifles do suck hard at close range.
