Heyo,

Been a master weaponsmith for a while now. Not only is the grind a pain in the ass, getting 12 points really expensive, and as well theres a billion types of resources I need for every different weapon.

I have a decent pile of resource I've been stocking up, but when I got to make something I find even if I do have the type of metal, it's not the proper stats wanted. It's like an impossible mix and match game.

Sorry just rantin my frustrations of finding it hard to make any ranged weapons. So much stuff requires stats opposite of its type, and specific steel/alum/iron good CD and a specific type of copper with SR is not easy for me to find.

Welcome too the most confusing profession in the Game.I too feel your frustration I had gone to the trouble of makeing thousands of advanced componets and had them on two different factories had a little bit of money in the factories. Then there was a bug where they charge more money than they were suppose to.I was gone for awhile out of town I come back and they had deleted themselves. No factories + thousands of components lost....I started another charachter on another server after this he doesn't craft a thing.

prob take ya 4-6 months to collect all the top resources ya need,as for the capped ones ,well we all in the same boat so as long as yer final stats are comparable to other smiths you'll be ok.

Try concentrating on melle weaps at first, much easier to get top resources for them

Do you have to make every weapon in the profession, specialise on melee, ranged, etc and cut the number of resources you need..

No offense but, as it should be. I will agree that it is much more expensive than it should be. I honestly don't believe that it should be for everyone. If so the market gets muddy and there are those that just don't put the effort or are as dedicated crafters.

Sorry again, but I like the complexity, if it was easy everyone would do it. The people that are good put major effort into it. I know certain things are a pain in the butt and its a bit confusing at times and there are definitely annoying issues to be dealt with. I still think WS is a pretty decently overall profession.

Yeah but try to keep in mind everyone on your server has access to the same resources you do, so unless it comes down to a profession start date, there isn't much of a difference. If it does come down to that, then you just need to put in the time the other competing smiths have to acquire the resources equal to what they have.

I think am about as dedicated as you can get for a WS. Most of the money I spend goes back into the business. Thats kind of how you have to look at it. Every credit you spend will come back to you in the long run. The money you spend on resources, maintenace fees, skill tapes, everything. It takes time to turn it into success.I'm not knocking your path to WS, I just believe if you pick a profession, be as dedicated to it as you can be and it will present its returns to you.

I'm one that needs to be able to make everything, and I have houses full of resources. It helps me greatly to have a quick refrence on each resource. So I made up an excel sheet that has each resource on it, what stats to look for, and what weapons they are needed for.

It does not include the CURB's new weapons

But if anyone would like it, I can email it to ya. It has helped me more than anything else. When I'm looking on vendors or the trade forums I can quickly rule out the bunk stuff.

hmmph, i dont think it will take me 6 months to get the resources i need

I been a weaponsmith for i dunno 2 weeks or something now, ive already got 50 plus resources, and worked out i will need between 520k and 10mil to get the 26 more resources i need (assuming that i can reuse them all for other parts, which of course i wont, but it should only make it 40 resources, assuming NONE can be reused). Thats an advantage of being willing to waste money on resources cos you really dont like harvesting.

Once i get the 10 or so resources i need to craft the components, i can craftmost of the weapons with what ive got.

I really love the complexity of Weaponsmith. Thats one of the reasons I chose the profession in the first pace. It gives me great pleasure to accumulate the knowledge it takes to make topend weapons. I see it as a kind of jigsaw where you need to find the right resource each time to make the perfect outcome and Im loving it

My goodness know we know it is a bug, solid petrol for VK's hasn't spawned on Sunrunner in so long weaponsmiths may kill each other for it. I have been a master for a really long time and have never seen it spawn. I was told it did spawn once for 2 days. You can make a good living selling gas too. Took 3 months before I could make weapons after I made master because I didn't realizehowhard it was to find things. It takes lots of resources with annoying caps. I use a database with tables and queries on a second computer to make things. How anybody can just use a spreadsheet beats me. One of my tables is just requirements like 3 types of some steel and the 50 50 in various columns for what I need. Then there is the inventory table and the table with products and the table with requirements by weapon and the current resource table and the real estate tracking table and the pricing table and stuff currently for sale table and the stuff sold table, you get the drift, he he. Then you need queries to find the stuff in the tables. I spend more time mining than making weapons, but people do like what I make.

Complexity is king. This is the best profession in SWG !

I spent the first 6 mths of this game as a Master Bioengineer funnily enough, reckon i got to No2 in the galaxy - now that was a crap grind - sticking needles up rancors butts, unarmed, getting some dna then getting db'd all in a couple of seconds !! Boeng was pretty damn complex - developing 10k HAM Level 10 pets - now that was tricky. Breeding and crossbreeding etc etc.

So I thought, whats the most complex profession, the one that would keep me hooked - WS was the one and it has kept me hooked for over a year now. The few million I had from BE helped me to enhance my resource stockpile to begin with - but it took months to work it all out. And I am still hooked. PLaying with enhancements of all sorts, trying to price things properly, tweaking the rest of my template to see if i can go loot some geo myself rather than pay for it - its great.

Gotta say all the complexity is what I love!

I really hate the shopping.. but finding a resource that brings your wepon up a few damage points gives me a bigger thrill than any of the creatures I've killed in game with my combat toon (well exept when I loot WS components... I love that part too hehe)

I think I have been a Master weponsmith for almost a year now. and I still cannot build all the wepons avalible. I Pick one wepon at a time and find the best stuff to make that wepon! once I have that wepon up to speed with the rest of the server I move on to the next. I started with melee as they are the easiest. then moved to gernades to make money to buy resources to make gernades to make money to buy resources to make gernades to make money...... uhhhhh

I feel I'm a pretty sucessfull WS with out having to spend billions on tapes. I am a 10point smith, and honestly don't see the need to buy tapes. I think alot of people use the 12point tag as and excuse to charge more. And frankley I've seen 12point smiths that don't have a clue about their proff.

And I used one of my Resource kits to get Class 3 solid petrol cause I'm tired of waiting for a dammed spawn!! Lowca did get lucky with a recent Skevon spawn.. wich i assume has all been grinded in Force XP.....
